Charlotte, NC – March 27, 2015. – Axiom eSports, a premier StarCraft II eSports team, is excited to announce its year-long partnership with SanDisk, a global leader in flash storage solutions. As the official storage provider for Axiom, SanDisk is outfitting the StarCraft II team with its latest high-performance SSD, the SanDisk Extreme PRO® SSD, as well as supporting the production of upcoming SHOUTcraft Invitational online gaming tournaments.
Axiom and SanDisk began working together in 2014, when the company became the premier sponsor of the SanDisk SHOUTcraft Invitational last May. The event received more than 250,000 unique viewers over its four-day run and drew a number of high-profile matches for fans to view. Through this extended partnership, SanDisk will be a member of the Axiom team through 2015.
“We're pleased to welcome SanDisk aboard as a major sponsor for our team,” said John “TotalBiscuit” Bain, Founder and CEO of Axiom eSports. “We pride ourselves on working with companies that are as serious about performance as we are. Based on my previous experience with the SanDisk Extreme PRO SSD, I am very excited about this addition to our hardware line up. I look forward to SanDisk’s positive impact our team and the greater gaming community.”
“We understand that hardware is a critical part of the gaming experience, and believe SanDisk Extreme PRO SSDs offer the 24x7, real-world performance and responsiveness required to compete at a high-level,” said Jared Peck, product marketing manager, SanDisk. “We’re excited to provide the StarCraft II team with reliable, high performance SSDs, and look forward to supporting the organization throughout the year.”
The SanDisk Extreme PRO SSD comes in capacities of up to 960GB and offers professional-level read/writes speeds of up to 550MB/s and 515MB/s, respectively. The SSD also comes with a 10-year warranty as a testament to SanDisk’s long-standing commitment to performance and reliability.
Good to see SanDisk found the numbers from the shoutcraft to be worthwhile in sponsoring the team. New sponsors entering the scene is good for everyone
Awesome to see a SanDisk sponsorship! All of the thumb drives and SD cards we sell at my shop are SanDisk. Glad to be buying from someone who supports SC2.
Awesome the scene needs more sponsors and Axiom is a team that is really good at using their sponsors well and making them happy. TB is a very shrewd businessman.

Glad that it is mentioned that they are supporting another possible Shoutcraft Invitational
This. The tournament was by far by favorite non-premier tournament of all time and I hope to see a second.
I know I'll probably get shit for saying this, but I wish TB would sign worthy players. Axiom is one of the most well funded Korean teams, yet it has one of the weakest rosters.

Sorry we're too busy 2-0ing Jaedong to worry about being a team that just hires players based on results and not on who they are and how well they gel with our roster. Maybe other teams just cherrypick the best players and run them into the ground at foreign events, but we're in Starcraft for the long-term and we develop our roster.
Oh and we're not even breaking even financially so if you have more expert business advice and insight into our financial state then by all means please keep it to yourself rather than spreading around uninformed nonsense.

When you signed GoG as a Sponsor, you said you need 2-3 more of these kind of big sponsors for Axiom to get out of the reds. Damn either I heavily like that you pay your players fair incomes, have a good teamhouse and all these expensive stuff. But on the other side, I would like to see your team catch some fresh faces.

Why is that? They were late to SC2 but they have been good for SC2 haven't they?
Awesome to see Axiom still up and running! Could we by any chance see another Shoutcraft in the future? One of the best online tournaments I've ever seen!

Completely false. We have no problems with KeSPA what-so-ever. We don't join Proleague because it's a big commitment for a very small team that vastly restricts what other tournaments we can attend. Our players elected to participate in other tournaments rather than play Proleague this season. We have not ruled it out for future seasons.

There is a special treatment rule though
...we will give preferential treatment to site members who have been with us longer. This doesn't mean they get to do whatever they want, but they do get the benefit of the doubt. The same goes for "known" professional players or personalities.

Great news, time to renew my SSDs! I really do buy stuff from companies that support eSports, specially SCII, and I will keep on doing it since it makes me feel like giving back for their awesomeness! :D
How do I tell Sandisk that I am happy with their decision and that I have decided to purchase their products because they support Axiom, SC2, and Esports?

Grats TB. I didn't tune in to SanDisk Invitational live last year, but I definitely wouldn't make that mistake again if you get another one going, that tournament was off the wall.

it's always funny when someone with no experience or clue about what they're talking opens his mouth. You should go bury yourself in the desert for several years until your shame goes away (can it?)
Monetarily, we are now breaking even on regular month to month costs. Flights and hotels are still expenses which aren't covered by sponsorship dollars, we'd need one more major sponsor to be in that state. We're in the best financial state the team has ever been, that's the main point. We can afford the house, all the costs associated with the house (electricity, gas, food budget etc) and the teams salary, on sponsorship dollars alone. Flights and hotels are still coming out of my pocket.
As to the question "Why not hire more players?". Well for one, why? Where are all the team leagues to justify a larger roster? We have practice partners in KeSPA that we work with, so its not like all practice is internal (one of the advantages of not being part of Proleague is that Proleague teams want to use our guys to prepare for matches, you'd be shocked who we've beaten in secret ). If we went for Proleague it'd be with another team anyway, we'd never bolster our roster that much to go it alone, it's just financially irresponsible. There's no reason for a non KeSPA sponsored team to have a big roster anymore. Anyway, our house is at capacity, we have MMA, Patience and TRUE playing in the house plus our 5 guys, we're full. Axiom to me is about long-term roster development. If my players are slumping, its our job to get them out of that slump, not fire them and replace them with whoever is winning at the time. That's not how you maintain team morale.

Thanks for being so open about the business side of thing TB, it's great to know a little more about what's going on behind the scenes. As always, your attitude regarding your players is awesome, even if they do have to farm dilythium for you 2 hours each per day.

I dunno about SSD-s (I have a PC and a notebook running the cheapo kingston ssd-s and they have yet to dissappoint), but I can confidently say from professional experience SanDisk really is the shit when it comes to high performance CF and SD memory, good job TB.

Okay, but there's a difference between a player slumping and a player just not having it anymore. It's clear that Alicia has nothing left, and that Ryung and Impact are Code-A-dropout level at best. It seems like you have some personal connection to these players, and that's fine, but it does hurt the team's results. You can talk all you want about your philosophy for a successful team, but right now it's your marketing, not the teams results, keeping it afloat

There is also a difference from a spectator and someone who works with these players. You may see Alicia absent from tournaments and no real attempts at qualifying at tournaments and chalk that up to "nothing left" but you don't know his mother is seriously ill and we've given him permission to take a break in order to return home. His focus, that we fully support, is on his mother's recovery.
Lots of factors are in play here that spectators don't know or understand, but that certainly doesn't stop people from summing it all up to "they just suck now." This applies to all pro gamers.
Superb work, the silent majority truly appreciate this. Please keep at it!!
P.S. I recently bought a 1/2TB SSD from sandisk for the lab and we're loving it! Curiously, we study biochemical signatures that are believed to be involved in the genesis of cancer. That's the circle of life, Simba

Lots of factors are in play here that spectators don't know or understand, but that certainly doesn't stop people from summing it all up to "they just suck now." This applies to all pro gamers.

You managed to make me laugh and angry at the same time, gj

I look forward to seeing you in this season's GSL/NSSL

Not at the moment, though I'm sure they would appreciate it is you tossed them a message on Twitter to let them know that you bought Sandisk because of their sponsorship.
