On Dec. 2nd, Kim Dong-hwan, former coach of Prime, announced the official disbandment of Prime.
He stated, "I`d like to say thank you for all the cheers that fans gave to us. Also, I`d like to say sorry. I hope there will be no more innocent victims like me. I want to keep working for SC2 scene as long as circumstances permits."
Edit:
According to his post on DCinside Starcraft Gallery (Korean SC community), He was nominated as a new head coach of 2016 Prime.
He said Prime was going well before the scandal erupted; new uniforms, recruits (planning to ally with foreign teams), rebuilding, new sponsor and so on.
However, after the scandal, Shiycoms canceled it`s sponsorship and everything went wrong. - that`s how Prime disbanded.
Prime's death has been so dragged out, and so tarnished by scandal, that this feels more relieving than anything. At least things can't get worse now. No, there's just no possible way things can get any worse.
RIP Prime, you were my first team flair. Your sons Maru and Polt will carry on the best of your legacy. And maybe ByuN. Heck, possibly even Creator!
Well this was bound to happen, whatever sponsors PRIME did have must have clearly jumped ship as fast as possible when details about the match fixing scandal broke. Was the only logical conclusion to close down the team imo.
I hope to see a new KESPA 8th team get revived for next year's proleague.
...this was to be expected and it was dragging out way too long but it's shocking nonetheless, and not only for a possbile 7-teams only Proleague next year... reading "Team Prime disbanded" is so weird and sad...
It's insane how long they lasted compared to some other old school SC2 teams. oGs(T_T), IM, TSL, Slayers, Startale, fOu, ZeNEX, NSHS... Only MVP lives on.

MVP got that Chickenmaru power. Now they'll never die.

was inevitable, but sad nonetheless. gerrard always seemed to try so hard, but in the end all he could do was taint his team's legacy and throw it away.

Not sure of ST should be on that list :D
Don't think so, SBENU is basically a direct continuation of Startale.
Quite expected after the big blow they suffered. I'm still impressed by how resilient Prime has been, I think many teams would've disbanded a long time ago, had they been in a situation comparable with Prime's.

Must've already disappeared, used to settle a debt to shady people.

with creator gone and without a regular coach, prime was a beat-down team comparing to any other team. the team was a sand bag for any team to gather their winnings. It was really ridiculous and boring to watch their matches tbh.

why? there was no guarantee they would win since ST is the biggest bunch of team league chokers all time. it wasnt the ace match
Would have been PartinG (who would've been hot coming off three straight wins), Bomber, Squirtle, and Curious against Byun and Creator. Surely you can concede that Startale would have a CONSIDERABLE advantage had game four played out properly
I hope, NaJin or some very new and financially stable team comes in. i would like to see a new formed team more than just reincarnation of old teams. I am also curious about new players.
It was fun while it lasted, Prime will always have a place in my heart, but now let's look, what's up ahead of us!

sorry, but that's incredibly rude to fans of the team. A team that was around since 2010 and was at one time a championship organization with lots of talent

while the memories are priceless the actual value of prime post scandal is nothing....but really thats just me and I don't justify what he said either.

Even so, that's not something to say in this thread. It's insensitive. (referring to Ctesias' post)

Remember when I said "considerable advantage" rather than "guaranteed victory"?

Bring back EGTL!
Yes please, I want to see everyone's favorite foreigners gets massacred week after week in the most creative of ways!
Back on topic, goodbye PRIME, I'll chose to remember the team not for what it became, but what it originally was a long time ago. Thanks for the memories!
It is actually surprising it took so long to disband the team after the fixing accusations. I hope the accusations dont splash into the good players in PRIME.

I was just providing support for my rationale. I never guaranteed a victory either. People just always seem to ignore that Prime wasn't dead even if MarineKing was out

Thanks for that trip down memory lane. I haven't thought about some of those teams in a long time :/
gg prime. It's sad, but for the best I think. Any word on who is getting picked up by whom?
MKP will always be remembered, as will Poltimus Prime, Creator and even B4 he was so cuuute. And lets not forget the latest god to grace the prime banner, Maru, the MarinePrince himself.
That being said i am happy to see MVP surviving and still thriving. Their Dota2 team is doing quite well in some recent tourneys these days, and their SC2 team is doing quite well, despite the players they have (see ''best coaches''article)
Huh, somehow I thought they had disbanded right after the scandal, but I guess they were hanging in there for a while to see how things go.
Can anyone confirm - my understanding was that the Prime pro team was kinda an outgrowth of a larger clan of amateurs on Bnet (I would assume that's how they kept getting all those new players for their team), is the clan still around at all?
Anyways, RIP Prime, a team with some of the most idiosyncratic and passionate players to ever play SC2...a team that has been here since the very beginning of SC2....a team that stuck around deep into the new era when others were hanging up the towel...a team that wasn't afraid to give newcomers and young players a chance... I'll remember you (especially in my comfy Primezzang hoodie)

Why would he trust MarineKing with carrying on the good parts of Prime's legacy at this point?

startale would have won if they played virus. that is all.
on topic can't say this isn't expected. sucks for the people effected though
I'm pondering what's going on with the proleague season coming up, paricularly in context with what's happened in the lol world regarding broadcasting rights for lol champs.
I'm assumming negotiations are ongoing in figuring out the answer to what happens with tv scheduling and even team rosters with all these trades/retirements
They should've disbanded a long time ago. Seeing them in Proleague this past year has been a sad state of affairs. Now Prime can finally die in peace. RIP

I don't understand how we're supposed to read that things were "going well before the scandal erupted." Before the scandal erupted, Prime's coach was pressuring Prime's players to break the law, over the course of God only knows how many months.
Is this guy saying that "during those two weeks that the bad guys were in jail but no one knew why, things were really looking up"? "It's a real shame we couldn't just sweep this under the rug"?

I think he means for next year. Obviously they didn't know about the dodgy stuff, and had written off this year and were just focusing on when the new coach was gonna take over and was sorting out the new sponsors, partnerships etc.

Yeah. I just strongly disagree with the way this coach expresses himself, saying "things were going well for Prime." Things weren't going well. Things actually couldn't have been worse. You just didn't realize it.
I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume this was lost in translation.
Prime lived on so long, and weathered so much, before the decline.
Marineking leaving Prime should've been a giant red flag - he put a lot of effort into keeping the team alive through tough times and was personally and emotionally attached to the team. Byun disappearing is another one.
I'll always remember Prime as the team they were before, not as how they fell.
Also, that GSTL trophy is probably sitting on Choya's desk.
with all the big amazing plans Blizzard has outlined for SC2 ESports in 2016 and the hundreds of billions of dollars in prize money that will be up for grabs i'm surprised Prime disbanded.
