The third day of KeSPA Cup saw two more Protoss move on, as Stats clawed his way through a tight series against Solar and then had little trouble with Trap.
MarineLorD was unfortunately eliminated 0-4. A long macro game on Frost went in favor of Trap, who then shut down a proxied 1-1-1 and the eventual all-in followup to take the series 2-0. MarineLorD's series against Solar played out similarly, getting outdone by Solar in a macro game on Frost, then failing a 3-rax reaper build.
Trap went on to eliminate the Starleague champion in two convincing games, one a blink/disruptor macro game, the other an adept attack. Solar, having just come off a map 5 loss to Dark in the Cross Finals, will definitely be disappointed with himself after today, losing twice in his preferred ZvP match-up.
KeSPA Cup concludes its group-stage tomorrow with Group D, featuring Maru, Patience, Nerchio and Classic. Classic and Patience are directly competing for a BlizzCon spot. If either of them advances while the other is eliminated, that secures their spot at the Global Finals.
I think Mlord was nervous bit and couldn't perform his best, and I knew Stats would make ro8 easily, but Trap beating 2-0 best ZvPer Solar ez was another unexpected one :3
When did we arrive at the conclusion Solar had better PvZ than Dark by the way?
at a moment many people said so, but you are probably right, Dark is Dark I had no doubt about he has best ZvT in the world, but Solar was also really good in ZvP for a while, so losing to protoss this easily is unexpected.
everything went as expected.. MLord 0-4 and both Protoss advance.. im getting soooo sick of SC2 lately.. these Adepts make me wanna not watch this shit anymore
I feel like mlord played very well in every again, but his opponent was always a tiny bit better. And he did some misjudgements. Would for sure have deserved taking 1 map.
Anyone surprised that Mlord went 0-4? I'm not. I've been saying it multiple times on Reddit that he wasn't going to take a series from anyone. He didn't even take a map! Exactly what I was expecting.
Best ZvP in the world goes out to 2 Protoss Best Terran goes out to only Protoss.
It's just like HotS :D Not gonna lie yesterday's was the only group I've actually enjoyed. Just seeing Protoss outing everything reminds me too much of what happened for most of HotS with Protoss being too strong, but not too strong "enough" for anything to actually change. >.>

So you propose a protoss buff as a setup for a major nerf afterwards? xD

Ive only seen one game against Trap where he went proxy everything. It looked weird and not even close to succesful sadly
So funny the Protoss hate is real :D The Adepts didnt even win Trap the game vs Mlord and solar lost so close to stats u cant even hate on him also Stats is the best ZvP Player since halft a year but i guess the Toss hate will never change
Rofl all these foreign apologists saying Marine Lord deserved a map... StarCraft is a game where all wins and losses are equally deserved, no matter how much effort you put into it or what your Cinderella story is.
Classic is top 2 protoss form with Stats now, and even in Korean community, people say his PvZ is probably the best right now. vs Classic will be probably the toughest match for Nerchio in this group.
And also vs Maru, people talk about in shoutcraft but KR distance is farther than EU to NA, and even worse ping actually. (I am not trying to be biased at all. I really don't care who beats who, but what I said is really true cuz I have experience while traveling Europe.) Maru is someone who has least experience among pros to play in online events with playing in bad latency, and everything really can be happen in online events more often than in offline events. I just saw Dark beated ByuN 3-2 in crossfinal and then lose to code B terran KeeN 0-2 right after in online event. So, by just watching online results, we can know someone is a great player, but we really can't know how far he's good.
I am 100% sure that Maru will be a totally different player from shoutcraft if he vs Nerchio again in Kespa cup main offline event.
And Nerchio has already proven that he is probably almost near top Korean level. If he takes down this group by 2 wins in a row, we really gotta say he's another foreign god hope. But, so far by just watching shoutcraft? I am still not sure. But I hope Maru or Nerchio makes RO8 cuz if both can't, then 6 protoss in RO8 ResidentSleeper. (sorry to Classic and Patience tho :3)
u cant compare a news site for football (easy example) with a sc2-news site. many people enjoy watching the vods of games without knowing the results. by spoilering the results u take away a lot of the thrill. on the other hand almost nobody is watching a football game as replay. also live streams and any other stuff about sc2 is found here on the site. so its not even a pure news site.
by putting no spoiler in the headline u make many people very happy and u dont get any disadvantages as "news site". its just sad for many people to spoiler them or make them not using teamliquid.net for the days of tournaments. especially kespa cup and the other korean tournaments cant be watched by most of the community member cuz of the times zone. though watching vods here is a logical consequence.
As of right now, this is how we're going to do it. We're working on a solution internally, but that may take time. Putting results in cryptic titles that nobody clicks is not a solution.

The cinderalla story is Neeb, who crushed his groups. I don't think there was really any expectaion for MLord, most were curious about Neeb because Neeb and Nerchio because trash talk

Plus, at least in game 1, MarineLord played a decent macro game. He did lose, but it didn't look like a stomp.

yeah he was certainly competitive in his macro games, not really a walkover the same way rogue felt
MarineLord did not trash talk, he is a good guy and I feel really sorry that he did not win at least one match. It is stupid to throw at him some part of a sentence, taken out of the context. The only trashtalker is Nerchio.

I remember a "no spoiler" mode on the page. Isn't that still a thing?
Mlord played decent, but both his opponents were simply on a different level. To be honest Mlord played pretty much as well as he has been playing all year, barring that one final and nation wars, he has not really been that great. Sometime he can step it up but he is still second tier compared to absolute top foreigners Nerchio, Neeb, etc. Expecting him to hang with an SSL champion is not really a likely outcome. I do think his build order choice showed his lack of confidence, I think he would have had a better chance in both games against trap if he had played a more solid style.

Lately? When the LOTV Beta came out many knew that Adept is the key unit in the PvX games. I thought it to be way too strong back then (and in my ladder it still is, but that has nothing to do with balance on a pro-level)
There is two ways to think of it: The negative one: Adept is simply too powerful and imba and Blizz is simply waiting too long again for "the meta to evolve" instead of patching them out OR the positive one: the Adept is what the Marine is to the Terran. Although the protoss had that with the zealot, Toss needed a buff on the gateway unit in order to make the other units weaker (e.g. Colossus).
I am unsure: for one I hate the adept (too ez to use, too high damage output if it "gets in" somewhere), but on the other hand I like that IT FEELS NOW (not saying that it was that way before) toss have to do more now for the victory then just make a big army ball and crush you and you could in some situations not do anything about that if you had a race with an inferior lategame (e.g. Terran), therefore you always played against a clock/timer in order to kill the Toss before he reaches endgame

You just need a bigger sidebar that can show a whole text like "Results of the Kespa Cup group C are out! Find out how many Koreans MarineLorD slayed HERE!!!"

Neeb moved on in first and we still get to see Nerchio. Marinelord going out wasn't a surprise. He's just not in the same tier of skill and consistency as players like Neeb, Nerchio, and Snute.

I agree with your sentiment that the adept let the game evolve to a better state. I honestly like the direction bliz took p in lotv, when I lost to p in hots it often felt like they would win without realy having to have the same skillet as other players. I would on occasion run into high masters protoss with 80 apm who just knew how to exicute a cheese well.
Now p feels like it has an appropriate level of difficulty the cheeses are a bit less consistent, the macro play requires more than the simple get 3+collosi and storm than win that characterized old protoss. In general the adept has been realy healthy for the game. I think the only problem it posses is that adept timings tend to be a bit on the strong side. I honestly think this is more a problem with warp prisms than adepts, p needs adepts to function in lotv and in most situations there the strong protoss footman that p needed in exchange for collosi nerfs.

I don't want to sound rude, but making it so that people can't visit your site at all during ongoing events for fear of spoilers isn't really a solution either.

Why not bookmark whatever place it is you use for VODs and watch them first lol.
at least Mlord tried and he actually showed good games, especially g1 against Trap. not sure about his reaper builds but those builds always look genius when succesful and horrible when they fail. definitely a good performance by him despite the losses.

Yep. Glad to see that 0-4
And Rogue said if he won't run into too many Terrans he might win the Kespa Cup, he went 0-4, but no one speaks to that, because so much of the focus is on the foreigners. They are in the minority and all progamers that aren't absolute legeds take time to adjust to the booth.

out of curiousity, do you get a lot more clicks from these spoiling titles than say "KeSPA CUP Day 3" or KeSPA CUP Group A results"?

The people who want to complain about getting spoiled alone are already helping

not really, I mean I would click the article either way.
