Group B is group of death, easily. It's basically the only group out of all of Code S that all 4 should advance to the top 16. Look at any other group and you can easily see clear winners and losers. That's not the case with Group B.
Group A: INnoVation, Solar Group B: sOs, Dear Group C: Rogue, aLive Group D: Bunny, soO Group E: GuMiho, TY Group F: Dark, Trap Group G: Stats, Classic Group H: herO, Maru
That's a very good tier system, none of the groups seem unbalanced. Only comment is that they lucked out with the Zest + Bunny pairing, and Maru is overrated a little perhaps but even that is debatable.

Dark, Trap and Byun are all very good if very inconsistent GSL players. Group F absolutely has the potential for some serious fireworks.
Speaking of inconsistent yet talented, Group E is the one I want to watch. TY is the obvious favorite there, but literally none of those guys in that group are pushovers. They are all old school GSL pros, and they are all very unpredictable in terms of what form they show up in.

It's true they are good players but both Trap and Byun haven't had any considerable result in the entire 2017, and Byun barely made it out of the qualifiers so personally I don't have too much hope for this group. But still, it's gonna be a brand new year so who knows.

And Byun was also literally GONE from the scene for a few years before suddenly re-emerging as hands down the best player of 2016.
It's Byun, he's an unpredictable maniac, and we love him for that.
Trap is bit of an odder enigma right now, he's been real silent over the last couple of years, around but not really making huge waves.
Who knows, this meta is stronger for Protoss than it has been in a while, so who can really know how he'll fare in it.
Voted Group G for Group of Death even though i wld argue there is no "real" group of death. But since ImpacT is really doing well on ladder im excited to see how he'll compete offline. He is probably in his best shape ever. Praised him often for his skill but he never delivered. Hope he does well, even though i want Classic to advance so badly. Classic, the late game boss and one of, if not the, most underrated player in sc2. And he helped soO alot :> What a hero. But then theres stats; and who doesn't love stats. Always cheerful and polite and freakishly consistent in his performances?

Well Welcome to GSL Code S!
Do people really underestimate Classic? I think of him as one of the absolute best, he's shown some completely incredible skill over the years.

watch him change it back next season - losira learned his lesson the hard way, now its billowy's time.

Obviously i agree with you, regarding Classic, and i don't really know if people underestimate him. I just have the feeling and i believe i heard it sometimes on GSL Broadcast (artosis) over the years. Also his TL fan club page has 130 posts and the last one is back from 2016. And its not like he sucked 2017 (ssl, 2nd(challange but sick lineup) and 3rd(premier), gsl 3rd/4th and he finished all seasons top 16). On the other hand, not getting love from the community isnt the same thing as underestimating a player... in the end idk who's right

Those are the obvious picks but Trao and Impact are doing really well on ladder and might get through. Scarlett also some chances.
Scared for Maru a bit here, herO protoss very strong normally, but Maru been playing well vs Protoss in qualifiers it seems. Then keen for TvT in which keen got here by winning vs Terran alone, he lost to Ragnarok and on day 1 qualifiers lost 2x to protoss. Then Ragnarok to round off the group so it's all the match ups in that group and could be tough, however being group H there is a long way until they will start so alot to change in the meta.
Group A: Inno & Creator Group B: ByuL & Dear Group C: Rogue & Alive Group D: Zest & Soo Group E: TY & Gumiho Group F: Dark & Trap Group G: Stats & Classic Group H: Hero & Maru
Clearly no group of death. Sure, there are a few groups who have 2 legit tip-top-tier players (Stats/Classic or Inno/Solar for example), but aside from those honestly, nothing looks too intimidating at first glance.
Heck, I would almost say Maru getting out of his group should be pretty straight forward provided he doesn't have one of his cringe-worthy "off days".

The only one who can beat Zest in his group is SoO, Zest is garanted to be at least second.
Bunny's been impressing a bit recently, and Zest has lost a few PvTs to players he really shouldn't lose to (aLive, Forte, Cure), so I could see him getting eliminated.

I feel like he has more of those than his truly "on days" lately, honestly. I've kinda given up on the dream of Maru truly dominating. But I'd really love to be wrong about this.
