Nice, I always enjoy it when tournaments try a different format. And HSC is pretty much the perfect opportunity to try something too
|
Cool stuff, groups with 8 players in round robin sounds a bit crazy, that's 28 bo3s per group? I guess there can never be too much Starcraft, but some games will probably have to be played offstream unless I messed up my math.
|
|
Maybe you can add that to the opening post: This is the rough mock-up survival guide.
To give a bit of insight: Main Stream obviously means casted by the crew on the couch.
Mainstream joined by casters means the game will most likely be not casted but jumped into for highlights/fights or something amazing happening. It is the series that will be went into in case the main-match doesn't last as long.
B-Stream: this match will be fully covered on twitch.tv/TaKeTV2 Offstream: This match is not covered by taketv but can be covered due to community. They have free choice of games so there is no guarantee meaning it could be non-streamed.
We will try to play one round, finish it, start the next round unless schedule or crazy games prevent this. We will recap after each 2nd round.

Btw, I think we need Drogo vs Demuslim on the mainstream now after that trash talk on The Pylon . Rotti and Incontrol really want to cast it too.

Damn, I love how the schedule lasts from 1pm till 1am! The passion is real! Also I might manage to catch the last matches on thursday even though my train arrives past 11pm!

Bigger groups :O hell yeah

Wow, pretty hype. Fantasy, Solar, MMA, Parting, Innovation and soO. :O Only wish Serral wouldn't have denied the invitation.

Wow this looks incredibly awesome, really well thought out stream schedule and very nice to share it with us so we can plan our day based on the games. Great players as well as at least 2 of each race in every group.
Super hyped after seeing this!

Imho FanTaSy will be slaughtered anyway - returning to SC2 is one hell of an effort. Being able to compete again with the "big guys" will need some time and training for FanTaSy... But anyways: GL HF

Great new format, Mr. Bitter and Fantasy. This is amazing!

This looks great, pretty much everything we could ask for from a HSC.

Group D ist for "death". Just to let everyone know.

TakeTV being the hero starcraft deserves! Another good tournament incoming

What about bo2? With possible draw it is more interesting to follow round-robin group results and takes less time, a bit

Very nice. Does the double elim bracket start people who finished higher in groups further along?

waouw, a fine mix between legends and great players. Can't wait!

The first and second place will move to the Round of 8 Winner Bracket. The 3rd and 4th place will be moved into the first round of the lower bracket.

TLPD link for Bunny in OP links to EU Bunny instead of KR Bunny.

Pretty great to see the initiative to change up the format, as well as the nice and organized schedule!

Always such a fun event. Looking forward to following the action

I thought "players he will have to beat" meant the guys he'd have to 1v1 until he runs out of guys just to qualify for the event.

Placing my bets already. I hope they'll do well. HSC never fails to amaze me. Group A: (P)Zest (P)Harstem (Z)Stephano (T)Clem (I believe in this kid)
Group B: (Z)Solar (P)MaNa (T)Bunny (Z)TLO
Group C: (Z)soO (Z)Elazer (P)PtitDrogo (T)MMA (want him to win, one of the players I am going to watch out for)
Group D: (T)INnoVation (P)PartinG (want him to win, one of the players I am going to watch out for) (P)Patience (T)FanTaSy (even if it's hard, I know he can do it)
To many to choose in Group D. Majority of them are good and I just can't decide.

Anyone knows why Nerchio never attends those anymore?

This time I did not ask him. Last time he had responsibilities and cancelled. The time before iirc he didn't want to play.

Nerchio and Scarlett would've been cool, next time hopefully!

Well I'm asking less Starcraft for groupstage in order to make it more flexible with 3 different outcomes for every matchup, when draw also matters, not only win/loss
On the other hand it is also possible to play bo5 all way down to finals in play-off bracket to compensate lesser maps in groupstage. But...I dunno Kev, it might be just my weird vision of complex tourney systems.

Fantasy and Innovation! Thanks for bringing these 2 players! I'll be tuning in

I hope community streams having free pick of games means they can cast games that are also casted on the main stream. This is going to be a nightmare if you try to follow a player through the round otherwise :D

Bitterdam? Oh. My. God! Hyped.
|
Great format! And I think a better one as well. The previous format of 2 group stages is hard for the players eliminated in the first group stage. This way, they get to play matches until the knockout stages. More exposure of the players is better for the fans as well.
|
Bigger groups eliminate bracket luck and bad seeding better which is nice. Round robin however might leave someone out due to map score only, or we get some nasty tiebreakers. Matches in round robin are not simply bo3 but rather ±1-2 points. Double elmination playoffs however are super cool if they do really have the time for it. Also hyped for bitterdam.
|
How long is the tournament in total? In the events calendar it's only Thursday-Friday, but I'm guessing it's gonna be longer than that?
|
Any update on whether or not all of those Koreans are coming to the tournament? I especially interested to see Parting back in action!
|

Dear TakeTV. Just a massive thanks for doing another HomeStory Cup. Longgggg time viewer and appreciator here. Thanks also in advance to everyone involved - the players, casters, all the production people, event organisers, logistics, everyone. Keeping SC2 alive and healthy. You rock. <3

I don’t generally watch SC2 these days, but I always loved HSC so I’ll definitely be tuning in! InC & Rotti casting never fails to entertain (of course ToD and Bitter are fantastic too) so I’m really looking forward to it.
Thanks for continually supporting Starcraft. My only significant feedback (for whatever little it’s worth) would be to have a Brood War tournament too in the future! Maybe a small one alongside the SC2 games? haha even as I type this I’m realizing it’s a kind of absurd request, but oh well.
Hyped~~

By the way, if the prize distribution in Liquipedia is correct, why are the 3rd and the 4th place and also the 5-6th and the 7-8th place getting the same amount of prize money? This means there is no stakes (other than a possibility to win more later) in loser's round 5 which grants a spot in the loser's final.

Prizemoney is
