What's odd is there were some tournaments back in WoL with significantly smaller prize pools that were considered premier. e.g. 2011 MLG Global Invitational with its $4,000 prize pool. Makes sense. Or rather, it still doesn't make sense, but at least now I understand why it doesn't make sense. You'd think the players in attendance would matter more than prizepools, or else we'd all be hailing WESG as one of the toughest tournaments in the world. With the environment of HSC being what it is, I'd personally classify them all as Major. The whole point is that it's a fun tourney, not a super-serious competition. Like Incontrol said, openly discussing dildos is not really a thing in WCS. According to liquipedia - Premier Tournaments offer an outstanding prize pool, are frequently played out offline, and feature the best players from all over the world. They are commonly held by well-established franchises and are considered especially prestigious amongst the community. Personally don't think HSC counts for most of that. But then again SSL challenge and Cross finals do apparently. On another note, I do think WeSG as a competition is underrated. People seem to disregard it completely in terms of TY/Maru's achievements. Regular offline - check Best players around the world - check (moreso than WCS) Well established franchise - check Especially prestigious - probably not So you have 3+ vs 1- aside from money which really just is a stupid measurement for how great a tournament is. HSC doesnt have 32 top tier players but generally a very high quality nonetheless. If you consider Trap, Stats, Leenock, aLive, Serral, ShoWTimE, Special,Neeb, Scarlett... all didnt want to or couldnt make it. Thats crazy. I bet you like 10 pushups or something (because gambling with money isn't right, of course) it ended up being a scheduling issue for the pros. Great work as always, hope they show up for HSC18!
Showtime, Serral, Neeb didnt want to. Scarlett, alive, leenock, trap were not send Special cant aford it Stats wanted to rest

Agreed, it was awesome to see him follow up his latest success! Heromarine dancing also worth a special mention I think, that was gm stuff right there.

Very disappointed by Showtime. He's German and didn't want to go to the most entertaining Starcraft 2 event taking place in Germany? What a lame dude.

Or maybe he had something come up and just couldn't come. Or maybe it's fine if he just didn't feel like it. Don't be a dick about it.

soO the true Kong line successor. Gz to Innovation for the win and I was a little bit nervous because of the ZvZ winner bracket...

Ahh soO. Starting the finals one game up I thought 'This will be cool to watch! soO is likely gonna take the finals, he has looked unstoppable so far and he starts one game up.' But after the long first game on Darkenss Sanctuary that Inno was destined to lose, soO just started to look more and more tired after each game.

I doubt the Jin Air players or Serral would turn their invitations down of the prize pool was a million dollars. On the other hand you can say those are just two more good players so yes it raises the skill ceiling but it doesnt change the fact that the tournament already has very high level players In addition I want to mention that Maru generally doesnt like to leave Korea for example. I would love to see him at HSC since he is #1 Terran but I don't believe he would be a good fit. Regardless of that I would invite him to our tournaments. If I imagine we can run a HSC with 50-100k prizepool and he would suddenly want to come I am very honest to say that I wouldn't be interested to invite him purely on the fact that I feel if this is just about money and not being part of HSC I rather have the #2 Terran that can still enjoy the event, play some DDR etc. ;-) Look, I've never met Maru and don't know how he would fit or not, but let's look at the other side of his play.
He had health issues and I would bet he's still having them. So let's look at this from this view. Would he go to Germany to make his health worse for "low" prizepool? Well, of course no. Would he go if there would be way more money? Maybe? Can we blame a player with health issues he';s trying to cherry pick big cash tournaments only?
I wouldn't blame him, but hey, I'm a Maru fanboy
I get your view and as you're the tournament it's your choice, I will watch HSC even if you would refuse Maru(at least from VODs as this time, new job = no time). I just wanted to present the other side of SC2, not the happy one. (I'm still missing Mvp in GSL finals)

I would much rather see a wide variety of Koreans sent over than to spend all that money on an improved prizepool, plus I'm sure a lot of other stuff would have to be cut to facilitate that. We see Maru in GSL...that's enough if he doesn't have the right personality or desire to go to events like HSC.
I know he plays BW now, but I get the fanboy thing...I'd be fine with sacrificing a lot if say Jaedong got an invite.

It's a mental thing at this point - guy just crumbles under the weight of all the pressure.
They should sponsor a soO redemption tournament where the players are pre-seeded with all the decent players + soO on one side and a few NA masters players on the other side

Are there any vods for the finals yet? Thanks

He just keeps on winning!

really enjoyed watching innovation play. it seemed like he modified a few things toward the end of the tournament but he certainly did it all right.
