Maru ? - ? Serral Special played great, but Classic has been a foreigner punching bag this year lol. Yeah it's not like he completely embarassed Serral at IEM Katowice... wait he did do that. Maru also made Serral literally a punching bag during their BO3 at WESG this year. And afterwards Serral walked over Classic and beat Maru in a bo1 at a korean event that he won. But obviously only the results at the early year count, why don't we just forget everything else that happened after that.
Don't forget how Maru played in this bo1. You shouldn't even emphasize this match.
He doesnt play like that against top zergs when the match is important.

Seriously? What is with the misinformation in this these TL threads? Maru won a Bo5 against Serral at WESG. It was only 3 games though because Maru dismantled Serral in each game. Watch game 3 if you want to see Maru play with his food. And the Bo1 that Maru and Serral played doesn't count, but Serral fans of course will deny this lol, just like they deny his losses to Classic and Maru this year (how often do you hear Serral fans say that he has won every tournament that he has attended? I've actually heard Incontrol say this before).
People are already brainwashed that they think serral is the most successful sc2 player of all time, someone was asking this exact question on stream.

edit: If you swap Maru and Serral spots, both would have the easiest route to grandfinal. Why would Maru have an easier road vs Z? He said himself that he feels most comfortable in TvP, and if you've watched GSL it's not too hard to believe that statement, seeing how he dismantled Stats, Zest x2 and Classic. His TvZ's on the other hand were always pretty close series...

Given all the Zergs in Europe, this is actually a really interesting point. Serral has been an absolute machine, and his ZvZ is terrific.

Then remember soO vs Serral.
Even though he is the favourite dont think it will be an easy match against Dark.

I hope Dark 3-0's Serral and shuts down all the annoying foreign hype.

People have been saying this all year :p.

Serral would be seriously threatened by Stats (~40%), Maru (~60%), TY (~45%), Rogue (~50%), and Dark (~40%). (Stats is better against T and P.)
Maru would be seriously threatened by sOs (~55%), Stats (~45%), and Serral (~40%).
So I agree that Maru has the hardest route, because he got paired with the one protoss that makes him look silly.
On the other hand, sOs could win the whole thing, but only if he doesn't need to play PvZ, meaning TY gets through somehow.

Luckily we still have aam spam and pretty much as experienced of a Serral on the bigger stage potentially vs maru so surely that 3-0 almost 8 months ago is extremely relevant (also serral didn't make any of the games competetive ...just like he wouldn't make them competetive this weekend).
Hyperbole is fun though.

My point for you numbskulls is that you keep citing results from the early year that happen to favor your thoughts, while conveniently forgetting whatever happened in the rest of the year, including Maru losing to SOS out of all people in last GSL invitational and Serral walking over pretty much everyone in the rest of the year.

I am sorry, I was only thinking about that two players. They got the worst opponents (TvP and ZvZ in ro8 and ro4 most likely) in my opinion. I really really want Maru vs Serral at grandfinal.

special gets to R04 no problem. can he beat maru tho? i think so.

Tbh, it's really hard to give a prediction this year. Literally everyone could become the next champion. Judging from the performances last weekend I'd say:
Maru - sOs 3:1 Special - Stats 2:3 Rogue - TY 3:1 Dark - Serral 2:3
Maru - Special 3:1 Rogue - Serral 2:3
Maru - Serral 4:3
However, if TY and sOs get back into their form everything might change again.
