It’s very unlikely that he’d advance

God damn it...
feels like what happened with MMA. Comes back, slowly looks to be getting back in form....then he's a coach.

MC must be devastated. I know whatever it is he sets his mind to, he goes in full throttle.
I was really looking forward to a potential deep run, if not in season 1 of GSL, then season 2 or 3 at least... And now we all get robbed of this opportunity

The whole thing is a complete joke. What is the likelihood of North Korea trying to invade South Korea? Less then 0.1%?
Is it worth ruining Starcraft for something that is never going to happen?

You can't make an exception just for a single person just for career reasons, when virtually every single male around him his age had to undergo the same conscription.

Hey you can't blame the South Korean military wanting a person with MC's abilities. They know what they're doing, going after our greatest players, MMA, Taeja, Polt, Byun, Bomber, ForrGG. They know how to build a winner Best of luck to MC. We'll see you when you get back for yet another comeback!

Actually, Korea has been very strict about making sure public personalities do their military service. There have even been cases where some individuals have been excessively punished simply for the sake of making an example. This isn't to say there isn't some string-pulling by the rich and powerful to get their progeny exemptions/easier posts, but it's virtually impossible to get an arbitrary exemption outside a few strictly defined channels (olympic medals, etc).

Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy he juuuuuuuuust got back fml

that's damn shame, truly bad timing
but considering he knows that even if he advances to Ro16 he can't compete I think he should forfeit his spot.

There is a rumor that MC will be replaced by a wild card playoff between MoustacheToss, PirateToss, and GSLSucksballsWithoutMe.

They just did.
Another prime example of why pretending to be so certain about things on the internet is a bad idea.
