Can't be helped. Let's hope he goes out with a bang in GSL!

He won't even be able to complete this season of GSL he has qualified for.

Nope, not 100% sure but you can't defer when you received conscription letter like his case. There is certain situations you can but not in MC's case. And he didn't know about conscription letter until recently.

feels like what happened with MMA. Comes back, slowly looks to be getting back in form....then he's a coach.

I was really looking forward to a potential deep run, if not in season 1 of GSL, then season 2 or 3 at least... And now we all get robbed of this opportunity

Is it worth ruining Starcraft for something that is never going to happen?

I agree that it sucks but north korea attacked south korea less than 10 years ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombardment_of_Yeonpyeong

Actually, Korea has been very strict about making sure public personalities do their military service. There have even been cases where some individuals have been excessively punished simply for the sake of making an example. This isn't to say there isn't some string-pulling by the rich and powerful to get their progeny exemptions/easier posts, but it's virtually impossible to get an arbitrary exemption outside a few strictly defined channels (olympic medals, etc).

but considering he knows that even if he advances to Ro16 he can't compete I think he should forfeit his spot.

They didn't make an exception for Polt playing at Blizzcon, they're not gonna make an exemption for MC after he drops out of Code S.

They just did. Another prime example of why pretending to be so certain about things on the internet is a bad idea.
