This is the problem..... at times the computer freezes, or just crashes, or just turns itself off (usually making a grinding/whirring, extremely unpleasant noise, sometimes quietly), typically during a game or, less commonly, as I'm transitioning out of a game and into the score screen (once when starting a game). When it freezes restarting the desktop usually works fine. I never got an actual blue screen or error message though.... the computer just shuts itself off and/or freezes and produces weird noises.
my system is:

Attempted solutions:
-scanned for viruses (negative, couldn't find anything)
-updated the video card's drivers (no result)
-Checked for overheating...... I thought that could be it, as I seemed to monitor excessive temperatures.... so I cleaned the computer, etc. Long story short, I can't detect excessive temperatures anymore but the problem still occurs....
_a few details that might/might not help:
occasionally, more like rarely actually, the desktop didn't restart at all.... but it started up again if I shook the desktop's tower.
-Also rarely, I've had the computer shut down unexpectedly while watching streams (twitch TV)
-Once in a while I might hear the noise of death for a second or two, with the game stalling, but the computer doesn't shut down, somehow recovers and I can finish the game with no problems.
Guys, I don't know what to do anymore, except buying a new computer. Any suggestions would be really welcome.....
