Oh wow, so glad I am seeing this. Great to see the UK getting involved. Shame I can't make it this time around, I wish you luck for your opening weekend!
|
I passed the pub on my way to a friends house and my heart was warmed to see Day9 and Husky doing the preshow on the pub TVs. Its a shame it closes so early today but I'll definitely come in tomorrow and watch a few games.

Great to see this happening in London! Will head over next weekend.

This is one lovely bar you've been able to draft in the SC2 E-sport cause !
I'm a french guy currently spending some time in London and having the opportunity to watch the semi-finals tomorrow with SC2 fans is truly an amazing surprise !
Looking forward for tomorrow !
|
Nice place. Will defiantly be going to any future ones although have plans for this weekend. Its brilliant to be able to watch some SC with a large group plus beer, shame wont be able to see the final games tho
Pub closing times are ruining E-Sports!

I think for Raleigh, London has all the state-side barcraft beat

great to get out last night and meet you all, had a blast, even if i did get slightly too drunk to truly appreciate the games lol
|
I wish i would have seen this sooner. I will keep a close eye on this. Hopefully you make another for Orlando. Only downside to this is i would need to get somewhere to stay. worth it though.
|
epic, see you there for the next one.
|
I believe you mis-categorized this. The correct term to use is PrettyDamnedFancyBarCraft. I mean, come on, look at that place.
|
Are you going to do this at the next MLG? Were the bar you did it at happy with how it turned out? Because I only just read about this and I live in Brentford so I could have gone! I really hope you do another, could do one for IPL finals and NASL2 as well! :D
|
oh wow i cant believe this is happening :D good stuff!!!

|
Moving to London in one week. Gonna attend every freaking one!
|
Anybody in Portsmouth wanna help me start one there when I move up (shall be there from 19th Sept onwards).
|
Hi, what's your experience with barcraft in Europe? My problem (aside from finding out how many people would attend and how to make it work in a music club in a smaller town) is the time difference. It's possible to watch MLG the next day in the afternoon from the new stream but I'm afraid of spoilers. Looking at your time schedule I guess it's ok not to stream the whole day but I'd like to make it as complete as possible... Thanks .
|
Epic. Will be there for Orlando :D
|
Dudes and dudettes, come back here for more VERY SOON.
Did I just announce an announcement?
|
Almost tempted to get the train up from somerset for this. Love to see something like this happening in the UK.

Damn, signed up for TL one week too late. 2 north londoners here definitely up for the next one.

Last night's Dreamhack Valencia barcraft was great fun. Loads of people came and it was a great day in general. At least a couple of new faces were there so they need to see this thread and also the Facebook page (posted by Kwark a few posts up).

Hi...
Damn that I missed this. I just started a London Starcraft meetup 'cos I thought there were no London Starcraft groups. Didn't think of "Barcraft" . Doh.
Definitley going to sign up for the next one and let's see if I can just convert the meetup.com page over to your barcraft. No point in being in conflict.
yours, Marcus

Hi guys, Im an American student coming to London for a study abroad program (I'm from NYC). I'll be staying in London until late December and hopefully will be attending some barcrafts, but I also wanted to ask if any TL members that live in/around London want to come hang out and chill. Maybe you can point me to some "must go" places to eat or the best internet cafe around.
PM me if you'd be interested in being my unofficial guide to London as I am hoping to have the time of my life these next three months I'm here.
|
Deffinatly going to the one for MLG Orlando. Will be great if the lock-in happens for the finals!!!
|
Come and join us at Assembly House next to Kentish Town tube station, for two days of Starcraft 2!
We will be streaming both red and blue streams, and due to popular demand, will most assuredly, cross my heart if I lie I'll play Terran, enjoy a ginormous, HD-projected third screen!
Watch some pro-games, meet friendly nerds, have some beers and complain about Terran being OP with us! It's a fun day to meet new friends that you will later be able to kill online, a perfect way to socialise in sort! Plus, we'll have pub-quizzes, Barcrafter-submitted replays professionally cast as well as the world-famous 20-men-strong Shoutcraft!
Oh, and we might get a couple of VIPs…
We will cover most of pool play on Saturday from the start of stream until midnight, and follow most of the double-elimination tournament on sunday from start of stream until 22:30.
The start time of the event will be 30 minutes before MLG starts the streams, we will update this page to let you know, but let's look at 15:00 as a safe bet.
If you want to watch the finals, well, tough lu…. NO!
THIS IS LONDONBARCRAFT!!!
Not only did we triple the amount of screens, get a projector, spectator benches and an additional quiet-area to watch sc2 while the GFs enjoy a cocktail, but...
We've secured the pub from 22:30 until 3:00 in order to watch the finals. There is a catch, we need 30 people to make a reservation for this, and be able to stay until the finals. The pub will liaise with a minicab company so everyone can get home safely, and might be able to help if you are looking for accommodation.
To make reservations, please email mailto:lockmein@londonbarcraft.com - we will keep you updated on the status of the lock-in on Friday evening. Please, only make a reservation if you are 100% sure you will be able to attend, as this requires some organisation on the part of both the pub and Londonbarcraft. If we don't reach 30 peeps by Friday, we won't be able to hold this finals-viewing event, but will still have had 2 days of awesome LondonBarcrafting behind us, so only reserve if you mean it lads!

Will the late finish on the final day be a lock in, or can I turn up at 1 or 2 and still get in?
|
Russian Federation38 Posts
oh wow, that's HUGE! Won't be able to come to this one, unfortunately, but will almost certainly visit the next one ^^ Hope it goes well!
|
I can't commit to a lock-in yet, I won't be able to find out till just before that weekend probably, but if you do get the go-ahead for the lock-in, will people who haven't reserved be able to stay?
If not, I probably won't be around on sunday, but will deffo be there for saturday, looking forward to it!
|
Would love to come but I'm up in Staffordshire. Do you have many people attending from far? Anyone got any tips for traveling or finding a place to stay? I think it's the 3am finish that makes it difficult for me - 3am isn't a good time for me to head back to the station and hang around for the train. Maybe I'll have to consider coming along for a European event which is on a friendlier hours.
|
This is seriously awesome - should be there for a couple hours on the Saturday and for the Sunday evening - sadly will have work in the morning, so no lockins for me
|

Standard pub food, but seemed reasonably high quality. Someone got fish and chips that smelt gorgeous. Not sure on price, but assume london pub prices, probs around £7-£10.

Hey!
Me and two friends are looking to come down on the Saturday evening, is there anything you need us to signup to? I read over the OP pretty fast as it's late, but I logged on Facebook and i'm now set to "Attend" this event so I hope that's enough lol.
Also to the people from Staffordshire, come down! We are planning on staying out in London until the first tube is available at 5:30am (approx.). There's always a bar/club open somewhere
|
So good! Cant wait! massive bump to get the thread at the top, Going to be a mental weekend of starcraft action!

I literally cannot believe that it's at the Assembly House! I live about 5 minutes from there and go quite often! Too strange - I always sort of assumed barcraft would just be in America or further afield, I never thought Starcraft would ever get so close to home! (Also partly because for me SC is quite a foreign thing, i.e. I watch it on the computer being played in locations far away with people I'll never meet etc). Did not think that there would be a bunch of people watching it in the pub down the road!
Sadly I can't make this as I'm away at university, but hope it goes well!
|
I wish I had thought about this sooner, I'm currently in uni at southampton, I might try and get up to London for Saturday, but I need to see how cheaply I can get tickets... Hmmm 16 quid to get up to London, extremely tempting, but a tad pricey for a broke arse student, I think I'l try and be there for providence.
|
Was pretty sick, about 100+ people at its max or so, idk. Couldn't talk to everyone but you were all pretty swell. Best moment was when I was at the bar and some non sc2 guys were also there, they asked the barmaid what was going on and she was like "it's called starcraft i think, its a video game" and these guys were like "so they're nerds right" and she was like "....yeah"
lmao
But naw it was great 10/10 would go again. Except for when the stream froze during hero vs huk when huk's pylon was at 4HP with 1 probe attacking it lol

Anyone else in the Portsmouth area, or anywhere nearby, south coast England, Southampton etc. please get in touch, want to get this going and gauge some interest.
