Statement From Carmac
Statement From Carmac
A referee has made a terrible mistake. We cannot undo that - an undeserving player is in a situation which should not have happened.
Gatored got wrongly seeded into the tournament bracket as the #1 seed instead of DRG who received the #2 player's seed in the bracket. As a result, the two players were placed in the wrong part of the bracket and TT1 played a player he was not supposed to. Unfortunately the error was discovered during the match and not before. The result cannot stand.
I deeply regret that such a mistake happened at such a time, but we cannot undo it. We canceled the match and fixed the bracket layout. Nothing else could be done.
All I can do right now on my behalf and on behalf of the referee is apologise to the players involved in the match, their teams and the fans that followed the match. This should not have happened and I will do everything for this to never happen again.
I regret this has happened and I apologise.
Michał "Carmac" Blicharz
P.S. TT1 will receive prize money for placing top 4 regardless of his result in the replayed quarterfinal.

Where we're at:
Only FruitDealer vs Killer has been played (FD 3-1) as the Gatored-TT1 match did not count. Tomorrow the rest of the quarters will be played as well as the semis.
3:43 PM: For those of you who missed it... The IEM referees made an error and thought DRG was 2nd place in his group, not first. This error saw them creating an incorrect RO8 bracket, and the series played between TT1 and Gatored doesn't count. At all. Carmac apologized to everyone on stream and in the crowd profusely, but I imagine heads will roll at some point.
3:13 PM: Bracket rigging complaints? Carmac had the players physically draw lots. The Koreans picked themselves into those groups. Although with Carmac running the picking. you never know....
3:06 PM: Retract the 'really good' part about FD. But he plays like he knows what he's doing, no surprise his SC2 skill has been slipping if he's been playing LOL that much! On the side, he keeps alt tabbing out and talking to JYP about how he should approach his match with Killer.
2:51 PM: FruitDealer is playing League of Legends. Wax is entranced by it, he keeps saying hes really good.
2:38 PM: Brackets are up. Gatored vs TT1 first, then FruitDealer vs TSL_Killer.
2:10 PM: As they are ahead of schedule, IEM are making the bracket now and will be starting the first quarter final game early.
1:46 PM: Edge and FruitDealer played game 2, series ended 2-0 FD. Roach ling baneling bust vs reactor hellion expo.
1:38 PM: While Mana and TT1 were playing their three game series, Edge vs FruitDealer Game One just ended. EPIC F***ING GAME. When the replays come up tonight, make sure to check that one out.
1:15 PM: Saw a guy walk straight into the rope trying to leave the press area. His friend said "don't worry hes French".
1:03 PM: TOP takes 1st in his group... Depending on how FruitDealer does, it looks like Koreans will likely avoid each other in the RO8...
12:48 PM: Kinda lengthy break, but the next stream game should finally be up. Killer and DRG are in the audience watching now.... About half full here, but it's mostly LOL ppl right now. Disappointingly small SC2 turnout :/
12:23 PM: Mana laddering on some Diamond account during down time. He just used DTs to beat some Zerg. Opponent said "This is why Protoss can't win in GSL, you fucking all-in all the time."
12:22 PM: TT1 is cooling off between games by playing Terran on ladder and chatting with people around him while he is in game. Also today has way more cosplayers than yesterday, I can only assume tomorrow will have more.
12:18 PM: The benq people are really aggressive, there are flyers and CDs everywhere. They have a drawing for a free monitor where you put in your business card. Wax pulled out his wallet to find out he didn't have any of his, so instead he put in a collection of random cards he had including Mr Chae's, the WeMade manager's, and the head editor of ESFI World.
12:14 PM: Commentators tried to get LoL viewers to cheer for a French team. No one cheered. Also updated TT1 vs Poke (2-1 TT1) and Elfi vs Edge (2-1 Edge)
11:33 AM: LoL players behind us continue to cheer, even more depressing. One of them was bragging about having 50 apm. Elfi vs Edge and Pokebunny vs TT1 both at 1-1 currently.
11:15 AM: Thanks to the FPView screens we saw FruitDealer checking Axslav's history to look for his build. Pokebunny wins vs TT1 on Shattered, opened cloak banshee then held vs a 2base push and won.
11:14 AM: ThorZain was right and wrong. TOP destroyed Mana with a marine-hellion elevator into delayed 1/1/1.... which is pretty standard Korean. Maybe not in Mana's mind tho.
11:01 AM: Mana asking ThorZaIN about tips against TOP on BNet. ThorZaIN says nothing needed, TOP plays standad. Added Axslav 2-0 result.
10:51 AM: Pokebunny and TT1 were laddering to warm up - they got matched against each other. Poke SCV all-ined and TT1 held when he 4 gated. Also Axslav apparently likes running SC2 stretched, it's very ugly. Also there are genuinely a lot of people in the audience here to watch LoL, its depressing.
10:42 AM: Owch, Pokebunny managed to drop game 2 in the few seconds I was gone. Looks like TOP vs MaNa is immediately going up now on the main stream!
10:38 AM: Wow, watching four games at once is hard. At least IEM puts all the monitors next to each other! Anyway, I missed G2 and 3 of TT1 vs TOP, but TOP won the series 2:1. In the meanwhile, Pokebunny blew a G1 vs Mana that he should have won, according to Strifecro.
10:34 AM: Whew, got in just in time to see the first games start 30 mins ago. Got the first set of non-stream game results up! TT1 > Top and Axslav > Edge.

Mana 2 : 0 Pokebunny
G1: Mana won a long, long game on Tal'Darim where Pokebunny had the lead and chances to win several times, but blew them all.
G2: Apparently Mana did a 1 gate expand to 3 gateway pressure, and Pokebunny skimped on defense and died.

Pokebunny 1 : 2 TT1
G1: Opened cloaked banshee vs 1 gate expo on Shattered, killed small to medium amount of probes before being driven off. TT1 went heavy gate on 2 base and tried a push, pokebunny held just barely then went on to win with constant pressure midmap pushing into TT1's nat.
G2: Opened normal Tal'Darim PvT, 1 gate nex vs 1 rax cc. Poke tried some drops that didn't do enough damage, TT1 went into heavy colossus/immortal play and won war of attrition, never getting storm. Just microed battles better.
G3: Metalopolis, close air positions. Poke opened showing banshee, killed a few probes, then made more banshees and pulled them back to 1-1-1. TT1 1 gate expo, held the first wave barely, started to recover, and killd the second wave of marine-tank to win.

Pokebunny 0 : 2 TOP
G1: Looks like mech is still king on Xel'Naga. TOP's mech beats out Pokebunny's bio-mech.
G2: ...and it's king on Shakuras too, at least when controlled by a GSL finalist. TOP takes the series and finishes his group 3-0.

TOP vs TT1 - Finished

TOP 0 : 1 TT1
G1: Top went for a marine tank all-in off one base against TT1's fast expand... but TT1 microed excellently with FF's to stop the first push and take a massive lead. TOP's follow-up push (still off one base) looked dangerous, but TT1 held it off once more. That was all TOP had in the tank, and he soon folded to TT1's superior economy.
G2: Top won, missed it

Axslav vs Edge - Finished
+ Show Spoiler +
Axslav 2 : 0 Edge
G1: Edge went for a 1 base 3 rax strat against Axslav's expand, but failed to do too much damage. Edge transitioned into a normal game, but at a significant disadvantage due to Axslav's good start. After some standing off, Edge decided to initiate a huge base trade by dropping most of his army in Axslav's main while most of the Protoss army was too far to return. Axslav came in on top of the trade, having the money to build a new nexus at a hidden position. Edge army was narrowly defeated shortly after, forcing the GG.
G2: Standard Tal'Darim PvT, missed beginning but walked in as big colossus army died to viking/marauder. Axslav went into 3 robo colossus, took bases, added a ton of gates, and used warp prism and DTs to harass edge and take bases until he had a ton of colossus and won.

Edge vs elfi - Finished

Edge 2 : 1 Elfi
G1: Didn't catch too many details, but it looked like some standard 2 base vs 2 base for a while. When I turned my head again, collossi were picking the spattered remains of the terran army off the floor.[
G2: Shakuras, Elfi went for heavy 2 base pressure while getting colossus/storm before third, when he got his 4th up Edge killed the third and then went on to get the 4th. Elfi dragged it out for a while winning some battles but Edge overwhelmed him.
G3: Tal'Darim, Elfi opened 1 gate nex and then took a fast third while making gateway units. Did some weird stuff with hallucinating phoenixes, then flying them around in pairs of 2, partially for scouting but maybe also for confusing? Not sure. Took a fast 4th as well, died to large 3 base mostly marauder army.
