It comes right around this time each year, but it doesn't really matter how you've behaved. Across the globe, members of our community are all hurriedly finalizing applications so that they can enroll in tertiary education in the coming year. Come celebrate and commiserate in this thread.
Oxford college, in the UK.
Don't be hesitant to post that you are going to Utopia Community and Technical College. Who knows, maybe there is someone else lurking the thread that is going/goes there as well! Also keep in mind that there is going to be significant bias of who posts in this thread. Don't let comparing yourself to others make you feel down on your college choice, because most of us that are talking about this online are already bragging a little bit already.
Past Threads: 2011 2012 2013 2014
I made the thread now rather than in March because a lot of people out there already know where they are going due to early, rolling, and practically guaranteed admissions. Post if you want, and I encourage you to be honest! Tell me if there's anything important missing in the OP.
I stole this entire OP straight from Chocolate. I thought one would already be out, and I definitely want to see if I'm going to be meeting any TLers in the near future
Been at Rutgers for a year (or most of one), switching dorms to Brett and tacking on an additional two majors, Mathematics and Music in addition to my CS major!

Welcome to all new (and current) Scarlet Knights, especially my fellow math majors
And welcome to any NJIT students as well! You might just have me as your professor

Haha, it's been almost four years (me in 2011) since I've posted in one of these... and now it's this time again.
I'm currently a 4th year EE major at UCLA and I applied to CS PhD programs in AI/ML. (stats when I applied) GPA: 3.75 Major GPA (EE): 3.77 CS GPA: 3.9+ GRE: 167Q (94%) 166V (96%) 4.5AW (80%) Research experience: 1. Neuroscience (2nd year, no publications) 2. UCLA Applied Math REU (summer after 2nd year, no publications) 3. EE/Photonics (3rd year to present, two 5th author publications in ACS Nano) 4. Collaboration with prof. at another university, (one 1st author publication accepted to top-tier CS conference in human computer interaction)*
*It's about control groups in StarCraft
Note: I applied to 17 schools, which in hindsight is probably not the best option for CS; I'd recommend applying to around 10 to be safe, ~5 if you are a god. Note 2: If you can't tell, these schools are not ordered by competitiveness or prestige. A school's overall reputation will often be entirely unrelated to the strength of its CS department, especially in AI/ML.
Stanford: Rejected (PhD, not gonna really bother finding out what happens with MS decision). Princeton: (Interview in January), Rejected UC Berkeley: 99.9% Rejected since decisions already went out MIT: 99.9% Rejected since decisions already went out CMU: 99.9% Rejected since decisions already went out UT Austin: 99.9% Rejected since decisions already went out (will possibly withdraw) Cornell: 99.9% Rejected since decisions already went out Georgia Tech: Assumed rejected, waiting (will possibly withdraw) Columbia: Assumed rejected, waiting (will possibly withdraw) Harvard: Assumed rejected, waiting (will possibly withdraw) UCLA (lol): Assumed rejected, waiting (will possibly withdraw) UPenn: Assumed rejected, waiting (will possibly withdraw)
Duke: Interview request 01/23 (good chance I'm going to withdraw), withdrew 02/15
Caltech: Interview in Jan, campus interview 02/06, waiting... accepted 02/18 (all PhD students guaranteed funding...) Brown: Accepted 02/09 (all PhD students guaranteed 5 years funding) Michigan: Accepted 02/04 (fellowship for 1st year, guaranteed funding after) University of Washington: Accepted 02/09 (guaranteed 3 years funding)
Happy Van Halen Times day.

I got into Dartmouth. Going to be majoring in math probably, maybe a double major in CS or physics as well.

+ Show Spoiler +ACT: 34 (34 English, 35 Math, 35 Reading, 33 Science, 10 Essay) Subject Tests: 750 Math I, 740 Math II, 730 Bio M GPA: 4.0? My school grades out of 100, and I have a 95.14 unweighted. APs: N/A (school doesn't offer APs) Rank: 26/417 EC: String Orchestra (cellist), Catechist at local church, Biomedical Engineering internship at local cardiology hospital, hospital internship with CAO at said hospital, social studies club (4 years), co-editor-in-chief of school's literary magazine, officer of school's computer/technology club, NHS, etc. Essays: My essays were (in my opinion) quite good. Common App essay was probably an 8.5/10, Tufts supplements were probably between an 8.5 and 9.5/10 for each. UVa supplements were also quite good, but I ended up having to withdraw that application.

Deferred: Case Western Reserve University (later withdrew my application)

Super happy to be going to Tufts next year! I had some other schools lined up to apply to if I didn't get into Tufts, but I really didn't see myself going to any other school, with the possible exception of Stanford. A lot of people I know think I "sold myself short" by applying early decision to Tufts, but I think it was an awesome choice and am so pleased to be a biomedical engineer at Tufts. My Tufts financial aid package is pretty excellent, and I'm just really happy in general. Good luck to everyone else who applied to colleges this year (and anyone who's looking to transfer)!

Tufts is a great school located in a great city. I would've applied a couple years ago had their football team not gone 1-32 the previous four seasons before my app process got serious. I was looking to play D3 ball, and to be fair, Tufts went 4-4 this past year. I'm glad you don't regret your decision and I don't think you will once you start school.
Congrats on your resume, it's stellar. Enjoy being a Jumbo!

If you go to Brown, hit me up, I go to the hipster-ass Art School down the road. :D

The only regret that I had about applying early decision to Tufts is that I wanted to go to a school where there was more school spirit in regards to the sports. There's a lot of Tufts pride, but not so much with our sports. Which is completely fine, but I think it would've been a cool aspect of college. I'm sad that I'm missing it, but Tufts is a great school so that makes up for it.
Thanks a ton! It sounds like you're really happy at your college anyway (Franklin and Marshall if I remember correctly?). It would've been cool if a fellow TLer was at Tufts, but since you wanted to play football I can't really blame you for not taking their program seriously.

Lol great memory! Yea I ended up going to F&M. What i've learned is that school spirit (with a few exceptions) isn't going to be great at the D3 level. It also depends on the specific sports and other factors. I'll probably apply to Tufts Grad (mom legacy doesn't hurt) because it's in such an awesome location. Enjoy this time though... going into your first year of college is one of the most exciting times I can remember.
