OR Nothing shows on your screen? If possible, try plugging your computer into another working monitor and see if that works.

I doubt it overheated since he had it off for 2 hours then it wouldn't start (which makes me believe something has died in your computer from past experience). When you attempt to turn the computer on do you hear any of the fans / hard-drives or beeps from the computer? Also make sure all your cables are securely inserted where they have to be and power points are turned on etc. From the sounds of things you are not very computer savvy so I wouldn't suggest you start messing around in your computer and suggest you take it to a computer technician. edit:: ok wrote this before the reply's.

Yeah sorry for not giving much info but I said I'm pretty terrible with computer problems. The fans start and the power light comes on but the hdd light doesnt turn on or blink, all the cables and stuff are in the right places.

When the computer doesn't respond properly when starting up (nothing shows up etc) it is either: A: hardware went kaput. B: connection went kaput or disconnected (wires etc) C: .00009% cmos battery died... doubtful as it would still respond possibly in some cases. D: power point wasn't turned on or something wasn't connected PEBKAC. The way to usually fix these issues (or to find out what it is) is to: - first strip the system down to the bare minimum. - see if it works, if it does then you know there is a conflict with one of the pieces of hardware that was removed. - if it doesn't work then you narrowed it down to one of your main components. - swap out your ram and test each stick individually. - swap out other pieces 1 by 1 testing them with known good hardware. But I doubt you would have spare computer parts sitting around, and from what you have said you are not that good with computer problems, so I would suggest again to ask a computer savvy friend (if you trust them) or take it to a professional.

If it's the computer, well you'd go from there, listening for POST codes (the beeps mentioned above).
