But seriously, low-volume music or an audio book is soothing and could help you ignore the sound you hear. Try it out.

A nice dose of Xanax or Valium will fix you right up.

Then blow air through your nose without allowing it to escape through your nose. It will pop your ears with minor pressure and that can stabilize your systems. Tinnitus is a reaction to sickly loud music, so you shouldn't try to overstress your hearing ability with music now. Instead use like... something that makes your tired if you never get rid of it any other way. EDIT: By the way, I'm more like what you would call "magic doctor". I kind of know weird things about human body after experimental studies and I believe in Jesus. I just hope you get fixed :D. This works with some versions of tinnitus, but what can also aid in reducing the symptoms is white noise (rainymood, etc); either way, if the symptoms keep occuring, see a doctor.

I'm guessing eventually your brain will just recognize it as a normal sound that is not worth registering and you will not notice it until you think about it again like me. I think any kind of guessing will just lead to a self-fulfilled prophecy. I used to think it only happened when I was near electronics, but 1: that makes no sense, and 2: because I thought that, I would think about it every time I was near electronics (and if I didn't, I wouldn't be cognisant that it wasn't). Try reading until you fall asleep or something, I guess. Put your nose in the middle of your closed fist through your thumb and index finger so that your nostrils are 100% "sealed" against your skin ("ok" sign into "upwards fist"). Then blow air through your nose without allowing it to escape through your nose. That is the most awkward way to pinch your nose ever... Why not just pinch your nose without making a fist?

You need to hear something calming music or something on your headphones to block out the tinnitus, but it might just keep you awake even better.

I just had a doctors appointment scheduled for today luckily and told him about it. Unluckily though there doesn't seem to be anything to help it. Or it's untreatable. From all my google searching it seems it may be something called Tinnitus and that this effects roughly 1/10 of people and is fairly common. Kind of a long shot but what I'm asking for here is anyone who has had a similar problem and what they've done to help, lessen, or stop this sound entirely. Tonight I'm going to go out and buy ear plugs and see if it helps at all. Doubtful seeing as the sound is being caused by my head but worth a shot. So far I've also tried to sleep with a loud fan on but it didn't seem to help. From what I've read the more you worry about it / let yourself get annoyed by it the worse it will get. TL;dr - Loud high pitched noise, can't sleep. Suggestions? i noticed that i can hear high pitch noises since i was a little kid. Most of the time it only come when im in a super quite environment (or have my noise canceling headphone on and play nothing). The best way is to do something and forget about the noise. In case of sleeping, go fucking do something until you completely exaushted and fall into sleep OR listen to some soft music. I would recommend Yiruma piano. look it up for 3-4 album of his, they are soft enough that you should be able to forget

The regular "push the sides hard with two fingers" may hurt if the nose isn't 100% clean or if it has been damaged by winter or something.

Why should I stay away from headphones? even if at a very low volume? I was thinking of getting some headphones to block a particularly annoying noise (my computer) and put on low volume/gentle music. The last couple days or so have mostly been spent on quiet study in a silent room with no electronic devices to distract me. Seemed like it was helping last night but now it's still a constant thing to deal with. So far I don't think using any other sound to distract me is going to work, t.v. on or off I can hear it pretty acutely at all times. Being able to take my mind off it sometimes with reading and studying helps, however it usually comes back and can make concentrating on it difficult. Obv I'm just going to see another doctor soon and try to see a specialist, because I thought it was getting better some time in the middle of the night last night as I sat awake. But, that definitely wasn't the case. ;p
