Dark Swarm was cast on my backyard, whereupon the bees built a spire and have started morphing guardians. I'll try to take some photos of the thing in the early AM when the bees aren't active - the thing is huge like the Tower of Babel and was built in one day. Maybe the Egyptians used them to construct the pyramids way back when.

Get some honey hanging off a pole or something to attract the bees and light a fire under it, the smoke will kill the bees off. I vaguely remember a thread on somethingawful where this was pulled off successfully with pictures.

If they really are honeybees, they have been dying off, and it probably won't help to kill some more of them. There is probably some organization you can contact to relocate them for you.

"There is a great shortage of bees in several States and scientists are very alarmed at beekeepers finding most of their bees dead in their hives. Without bees you don't get pollination and without pollination many of our food sources would dwindle away. Don't kill them, get a beekeeper to come and get them. on a serious note. Do not mess with bees they are known to chase people for miles. Do not jump in water because they are also known to hover above the water for over half and hour haha. Best solution is maybe looking for someone who specializes in their destruction. Hell if they arent bothering you dont bother them D: idk? [edit 2] Or like others ahve said if you can sell them..sell them? make some money off of this

Colony Collapse disorder seems to be mostly occurring in North America, where the honey bee is not native. It represented a rare case of a species being introduced and neither overwhelming the indigenous population (other bees in this case, like bumblebees) nor dying out. If they do disappear in NA (as they seem to be doing, there are hardly any feral honey bees left, most are in colonies tended by beekeepers), agriculture will obviously be affected. Production will have to shift back towards plants native to the Americas. Honey bees are used to pollinate imported plants. Native plants are pollinated by native bees. So I don't know if "extinct" is the right word, without qualifiers. They are declining outside NA though. At any rate, they should be worth something.

You can call an exterminator. That is a large nest you have in the backyard. Given the season they won't be going anywhere for more than 6 months otherwise.

Bee stings are the largest killer of humans in the U.S. directly caused by animals. An allergic reaction to the venom is bee’s kills 53 people per year. This number is increasing every year due to the aggressive African honey bee that is taking over in Texas. OHH i thought only 53 bees died per year i was like what the fuck? haha source

Nobody got stung, surprisingly. Or maybe not so surprisingly since we were all too afraid to go out there after seeing what was going on. They definitely calmed down, but this heat wave we are going through would have driven them more crazy. No more bees for now! Thanks to all who replied with suggestions and also the humorous posts.
