w000t JD back on top! Hopefully he can keep it up for a while, and of course that Flash pulls ahead of Fantasy. Who did Fantasy think he was anyway? :D :D
Also, its so weird that horang2 is a top30 kespa player o.o
Jaedong 2-0ing Group Death is a huge help to be on top again. Flash needs to win more than he is doing right now because he has(probably) the most points decaying every month. I'm sure he'd be back on top in a couple of months if he won't get eliminated again in the individual leagues. Go Flash Go!
lol @ the claims in this thread. You get an award for getting past qualifiers and a few PL matches and all of a sudden kespa rank matters. I guess this does factor in what a few players did in last MSL season, but besides hydra this list is pretty meaningless. Maybe we should start caring once the semifinals start to come around?

Oh you poor thing, are you new to the monthly KeSPA rank threads??

You mean aside from Calm, Effort, Hyuk and arguably Zero? Yeah, pretty much

No, not at all. I was actually talking about numbers. He's the first Zerg player since then to come this close. The closest other second place Zergs got:
Savior was within 290 points in January 2008, Luxury was within 371 in December 2008, July was at 420 in January 2009, Yarnc was within 391 in February 2009, Calm was within 604 in May 2010, EffOrt was within 701 in August 2010, Zero was within 1432 in December 2010.
Hydra's within 248; he's the closest any Zerg has come.
I remember Flash having huge advantage over #2, not to mention #3 not so long ago. What has happend with this ranking, did i miss some major update regarding calculaiting points or what.

Well getting knocked out of the MSL/OSL as early as he did last season I imagine hurt him a bit, Jaedong's been playing like a beast lately. The higher your ELO, the easier it is too knock down. A loss against a lower tier elo player hurts your rating a lot.
Then Fantasy won the MSL, so I imagine thats why his ELO is higher as well, and was 1st for a month .

what, this is KeSPA ranking, which has nothing to do with ELO. you don't lose points for losses.
Flash lost so many points because it's been around a year since he had his 3-season-starleague-finals, and his points from then have decayed.
wow it's been so long it hadn't been THAT close ! Top 5 in a 250 pts range :O And JD back on top :O I'm a Bisu fan, but I'm really glad to see many players be successful. Surprised to still see Kal in the top 10...

Oh, I just assumed it was ELO due to the points structure. My bad ignore that then ^_^
not surprised at the result after seeing JD's recent games! Congratulations to JD, and Flash, gotta start working up the ranks up again with the individual leagues+proleagues Let's all hope that these players will provide us with another exciting month of brood war!
Hydra and Stork are like 4 points away from each other... haha YAY JAEDONG BACK AT THE TOP!!! Hope this fuels him to like excellence heretofore unseen And Bisu on the rise!!!! Fantasy... well.... you belong second good job though~
Yay! Jaedong is back on top! So happy for him, now he needs to win the MSL and get the golden badge that eluded him last time.
It's also really awesome to see such close competition at the top. The points difference from #1 to #6 is ~400, about the same as the difference between #6 and #7.
No matter how I see things, Hydra (definitely) and Fantasy are 'over-ranked' for their competence and consistency. As a second place (ie: under JD) all arounder Zerg, Zero fits the role IMO.
Flash, JD, Bisu are definitely the ones truly reigning fear over any opponent they face.

Now listen here (I'm shaking my fists right now btw). Horang2 is a total badass. Most A+ players on iCCup didnt DT rush Flash all to hell in their first televised game. They arent top 30 kespa and theyre not on TL power rank.

You should really come back though! With TBLS doing so well and with Effort coming back, the BW scene is as exciting as ever.
Not to mention all the interesting developments we've seen in all the matchups (except maybe PvP which I don't think hasn't changed much...correct me if I'm wrong).

I haven't been watching BW recently, just following results; what other than Queens in ZvT has started happening recently?

TvZ Mech transitions out of 1-1 bio, rax expand TvP, great playing hive tech ZvZ, flash getting bonjwa status

Can someone explain to me how Kespa rankings are exactly working? Flash wasn't that bad the last months that he lost his big point-advantage to me. Okay, he has not won osl/msl, but JD did not either (I know he got to R8 or something like that). Never the less Stork has not won anything and is over Hydra and Bisu? Bisu just got kicked out of msl and ist number 6? Hydra advances and has won osl and is rank 5? Okay maybe Hydra was really low before his win but somehow it's still pretty strange while looking at the ranking.
Seems like advancing in individual leagues counts the most and osl > msl from the point of "kespa points". Still don't get how Flash lost 2000points.

There's a pretty thorough explanation of the system in Liquipedia, search for Kespa ranking.

I think this post is still applicable? If not the actual formula, the concept behind it. Basically you get a certain number of points depending on your performance. More points for getting deep in individual leagues. As time passes they become less significant so you get less points for them.

Flash lost 2000 points primarily by losing to lower ranked people in Proleague, elimination in both MSL AND OSL, and then playing more or less okay since. That drop came hard, fast, and was actually a few months ago anyway. Stork has been doing precisely the opposite, Stork made it to the finals of an OSL (note, the guy who beat him is #2), Made it far in the MSL, and won most of his PL games. Bisu is a bit harder for me to justify under their system, but beating the #1 multiple times without losing to him once will do a good number on your score. Hydra, you said it yourself. for the Kespa rank system, he's pretty much the equivalent of a sucker punch, and he'll need a few more high ranked victims to get up higher.

Going deep in a StarLeague through solid BoX preparation is harder than consistently winning against random players in ProLeague, imo.

I read the liquipedia about the Kespa rankings, and it seems that the quality of opponent doesn't even matter in the calculations. Beating Flash in Ro8 nets one the same amount of points as beating Tossgirl in Ro8.

Imagine where Flash would be if the ranking took into account that he got beaten by Ssak and Lomo or whoever it was last season. And Hyuk.

The idea is that if they made it that deep into the tournament then they are a player "worthy" of that many points. Of course this isn't necessarily the case, but that's the ideal scenario.

Ya, the correct way would be to get more points for beating Tossgirl in Ro8. It is much harder to achieve!
