I wouldn't feel threatened by it though, they aren't going to switch games until the money has switched, which is still a ways off in Korea. In the US and Europe, the money is in SC2, but they aren't US/Euro pro-gamers, and even if they were, they wouldn't make the cash they are making in Korea and they know it. This is about Blizzard throwing a bone to some BW pro-gamers and getting a little HoTS publicity while they're at it (I assume they'll have them play HoTS). I wouldn't mind seeing some BW/SC2 cross show matches. Have an SC2 pro play a BW pro in BW, then have a BW pro play an SC2 pro in SC2. Obviously, the BW pros would crush in BW, and I think the SC2 pros would handily win in SC2 though I wouldn't call it crushing. As someone who appreciates both games, it would be really cool to watch. Some team games would be fun to. Pair a BW/SC2 pro up for some 2v2's against another BW/SC2 pro pairing.

No idea what criteria Blizzard used to select them, but it seems like apparent popularity (Bisu - obvious, Jaedong - obvious, Fantasy (over Flash) - probably because Flash declined / KT declined, and JangBi - most recent epic OSL winner). I'm going to guess that despite SCBW not being a part of the competition, these four players will play some showmatches against each other. *edit 2: lol the Fomos comments section filled with immature kids arguing why 1) Fantasy over Flash 2) Bisu/JangBi over Stork 3) Jaedong over Hydra. Some are already speculating that this is part of Blizzard's overall evil scheme to convert these superstars to SC2, especially for the currently teamless Dong. *edit 3: MY OPINION [not a translation] [not official stance by Blizzard or KeSPA] is that this is good for eSports (yes I like to spell it like that) in general. As long as Blizzard doesn't force these players into doing anything against their free will, the players will have a good time and be exposed to more "worldwide" eSports. Fans attending Blizzcon will be able to meet their favourite superstars, wet their pants in more than one way, take pictures, and whatever. Fans in Korea will hopefully take this as a good will measure from Blizzard that SCBW has not been forgotten. The point is that the players should be free to choose what game they want to play - both professionally and recreationally. More exposure like this will help players make that choice. Kind of odd that you seem hesitant that to acknowledge that this will be good for esports. It'll be good regardless and blizzard can't force the players to do anything unless it was part of a contract of the trip. This is what annoys me about a few of scbw fans, some act like elitists and get worked up about even using Jaedong and Starcraft 2 in the same sentence. Even if they did play a recreational starcraft 2 game it wouldn't ruin BW or take anything away from it.

WHY NO STORK But it's ok, at least they didn't pick flash either xD Edit: Oh flash declined? hum... why no stork then lol. i guess he hasn't been doing his best recently and they picked players off recent results like someone mentioned. Oh well. If there's prize money though, we might see some really epic games :D (perhaps to compensate for no WCG BW? xD)

Stork not going wasn't a big surprise though, he has been pretty off since his loss to Fantasy in the last OSL.

Between the Blizzcon tourney, HOTS units reveal, and these guys doing whatever (won't say what I want because I can't without being ostracized), blizzcon is looking to be a great event! Playing SC2 showmatches? Go ahead and say it if you think it'll happen...they're just show matches. In the Bisu interview he specifically says that he's totally not interested in SC2, so I doubt all the other progamers are super excited to change games when the opportunity arises. People get pissy when others are all insulting about BW players playing some "dumb old game" or any time news comes out about a player the first post is "maybe he should play SC2 instead" Anyone else who gets pissed because someone suggested that they would love to see Jaedong play a game of SC2 is just someone who is a drama queen and needs to grow up. Blizzard BW programing team for 8th team DOES sound pretty awesome though haha.

Why can't we just enjoy it for what it is and stop getting all offended if someone wants to see more of "x" game being played or more of "x" players playing "x" game. Its so hard to find any real discussion on this interesting topic through the pages of horrifically biased and slanted arguments with no real end or basis in the first place. BW is the best BW game that ever came out and SC2 is at best, 2nd place in terms of BW-likeness. Although, SC2 is the best SC2 game yet and BW, now lets be honest, is probably only 2nd best in terms of SC2-likeness. Now clearly if SC2 had more BW, it wouldn't really matter because as long as it was even 1% SC2, it would never reach pure BW, and thus be 2nd best BW. Same goes for BW gaining more SC2-ness. So if BW is stuck being BW and SC2 is stuck being SC2, lets all agree that BW can not equal SC2, if and only if, SC2 is not equal to BW. Greater than or Less than is meaningless because its like saying "I have more apples then you have oranges so I am better....". No you don't, you just wasted all your money and time on buying more apples. Ah who am I kidding, as angry as people get, I am sure they enjoy arguing whose game is better. Thinking of strategies and arguments to counter another persons..refining your pessimism for the other view points...editing responses to sound more sophisticated. Its the argument you enjoy, not the win.

I'm sure there are lots of people who just want to like both (I'm one of them), but we don't have as much to say as the more vocal, probably minority, crowd (on both sides) who want to be hateful. I think the rest of your post was a bit nonsensical, but I guess you're basically saying you just want BW to be BW and SC2 to be SC2. I feel the same and chances are many others do too.

Plus, Blizzard has 2 more chances to perfect the game.

Like What if the 3rd expansion fails so bad or what if the patching fails so bad? And knowing the international community, they'll jump on any new shiny stuff that's going to be out in the market eventually .. What will happen to SC2 if SC3 were to be released? There's your problem. And BW is 10 years ahead of SC2 and BW is far from perfect. @OP My thoughts still remain: They'll play SC2 but I wouldn't be worried. Think about it: Bisu: Best PL Player. 1 of the highest payed gamers Jaedong: New team, parents dislike SC2, will go to school if BW career ends (dunno where the source is but I've read it somewhere), currently the best zerg, 1 of the highest payed Fantasy: Recent OSL Finalist. Payed good by T1, 2nd Top terran. Jangbi: Recent Champion of the OSL. Top protoss player. All these paranoia is useless. They won't switch and even if they do it will be like the old gosus like July, Nada ..

besides why would you want to see them play sc2? pro bw operates on razor sharp timing from years of practice. why would you take that away from them and want to see them play a game they don't even practice and probably not even know the intricacies of?
