I don't think it was Blizzard but Day and his Day9TV crew.

yeah outsourcing it entirely would make sense.

I couldn't watch it all because I was playing and also sleeping, but from what I saw I loved it.
One thing that I did figure out from this event though is that I really wish more of the foreign "legends" as it were would post more on TL and interact with the community more. Honestly, Legionnaire is by far my favourite foreign player purely because he does that. With people like Nick, Dan, Sean, Geoff and the other players there (apart from maybe Ret) they don't ever really directly interact with the community and I think that's one of the major issues and why the foreign community never took off.
Even previously they sort of all segmented themselves off into this little group that would all chat together and never to anyone else and it feels like it creates a huge disconnect between us and the players. Incontrol I guess streams and chats with his viewers and I guess that's the same for Day9, but the other players it feels like you'll never be able to directly interact with them and that sucks.
I guess that's what happens when people become "famous" online, they stop posting on community sites to protect their images/jobs and it creates like a rift. I wish you could've won the whole thing Legionnaire, you're awesome! Props to you for showing such great games :>
To everyone else, I hope more events happen like this and more of you interact directly with the community in order to change the old foreign broodwar community's "old boys club" mentality into something engaging to make more people want to get involved!

Which is silly, because nobody will care about foreign broodwar if there's such a huge disconnect.
There's a disconnect with the korean scene but that makes sense as there's a language barrier. There's no such barrier in the way of the foreign scene. It's small enough already without trying to create more disconnects. Maybe I should make a thread about this rather than talk about this here.

Well, just a couple of years ago I remember Tasteless streaming on Twitch let's plays of SNES roms and games for more a couple (?) of months.[0] It didn't seem like he was someone who would like to hide from communicating w/ the fans, but the opposite.
Artosis too did a lot of fancasts I think.
Not sure why they stopped, and I get what you're saying.
Just wanted to add a shade to what you've brought up.
[0] LOL still got some mail notifications from 2013 / 14: tastelesstv just went live on Twitch Go check out the live stream: www.twitch.tv/tastelesstv#/w/5828162032 TRY HARD: Tasteless Plays Contra on NES! (attempt 2) current goal is to get to level 6!

Why would they post here? People love to antagonize with "stars" all the time. Incontrol posted fairly often in the forums, and people were constantly shitting on him. And being a public figure is a job now, they can't "shitpost" or fool around in the community area anymore.
Anyway, it's was a great event, i had a blast. I went to sleep during the finals. Thanks Samba for the link for the Vod.

You don't need to shitpost to post on a forum. People with jobs also hang around with people all the time. There's nothing stopping them talking to people at all.

this entire event was awesome. my thanks to whoever made this happen and everyone involved.

Nothing except people being cunts to them, which happens frequently (especially to iNcontroL).

People do that to everyone and if it's on somewhere like TL there's mods for a reason to ban those people if they're being unreasonable.

i think Artosis has 3 kids and a wife now. i'm sure he has very limited free time. it was cool that Artosis made himself available at the grassroots level before he had 3 kids though. i think expecting him to regularly do grassroots stuff is expecting a bit much at his stage of life.
Also, for Artosis i think the signal-to-noise ratio of that kind of grassroots communication is pretty low. it needs to be structured like Cyan's interview of him for maximum usage of the scarciest resource of all: time.
Cyan provided great structured grassroots communication between "the community" and Artosis and kept the signal to noise ratio high.

His point still stands though. When Incontrol posts as an example he gets shit on. It would happen to other players as well. I can totally see why they don't post on forums often if at all. Lots of assholes that feel they have to let their opinion on how much they hate the guy is known.

So no vods on youtube or anything yet?

Yes, these guys are spot on.
I grew up on TL (this is my 2nd account actually.. the other one was banned when I was a bit younger and more.. flamboyant with how I posted haha). I love discussing stuff. That said my experience posting on here is different than the average persons. I can't really get very far into a discussion without people doing everything they can to make it a miserable experience for me.
I appreciate what you are asking and I wish it were different Qikz but the mere fact you think me posting on a forum is virtually the same thing as anyone else means you are sadly very uninformed on this subject. I can tell you some of us still read TL though (me and a few others). Maybe some day..
