By the way if you haven't heard yet, Bisu is rumored to be playing his last Brood War game today before having to go into his Military service that is compulsory in Korea. So this might be the last time you see Bisu play the game

I think Larva can battle through and get 3rd place. It will be hard going though against a PvZ master. Glad I get to watch this before Bisu goes off to the military.

Think it is minimum 12 months service like what StarCraft 2 player MMA had. Hopefully he will be out this time next year but no one knows if Bisu will want to play again after 12 months

2 years is the norm.
Oh MMA only had to do 12 didn't he or am i wrong xD
Dunno about MMA, but it depends on the branch you are assigned to and the length varies from 21-24 months. Then there is the civil service option that could be even longer afaik.

That's where I was, but the screen was totally white after trying to refresh. Fortunately I've been able to watch on a Korean stream.
Those sairs were missed all game( Bisu almost did it but last engagement in his long initial break attempt went bad, with goons fighting ling/hydra and a clump of zealots melting to lurkers.

Could someone help me find the gear icon so I could switch to HTML5-player? I used to have the option in the corner of the player, but now the only gear icon I can find is above the chat screen, no player option there.

Left from the quality option (Source). There's a text "Player Type" and you can click the text in blue to change between HTML5 and flash.

Must be because of Firefox then. I didn't have the gear either. Browser/site is forcing me to use Flash instead of HTML5 with Firefox.
Bisu could have easily won this game if he attacked Larva's 5th right when he dropped those 3 zeals in his main (even took out his pool so no ling reinforcements). Larva only had a few lurkers with no swarm close to that base. Bisu even scouted his army with an obs, dunno why he didn't attack. He could have killed that army and rolled his 3rd/4th.
Not sure why so many people thought Bisu was dead. He seemed to be in front for quite some time. Storming drones left and right. Reavers destroying anything in its path.
I thought Larva could take this series, but congrats to Bisu. Great win by him and nice to get a final series win before the military.
Larva punted that last game off losing 150 psi trying to sack that 9 o'clock base fortified with storm, 8 cannons and 4 reavers. Shoulda just done his best to choke bisu out and win super late

Afaik Artosis and Tasteless get by, but they still get translations to their ear. Wolf is most likely the best foreign caster who can speak the language well enough and can actually do interviews in Korean.

Wow that is pretty interesting. I would really think that if you live there for so many years and have a wife and a kid, you would want to be fluent in Korean. I mean it's hard for caucasians to learn asian languages (and the other way around too), but I think it should be possible in a few years.

He's not retiring he's going to the army
Well he's gonna be gone for 2 years =/. He'll be ~30-31 when he comes back, right? Coming back at that age and trying to get back into BW (at a super high lvl) won't be an easy thing to do.
Yeah, even if he'll be back, his top form is right now.
I'm sure that if he does indeed come back or returns to stream post-service he'll have a big following, but I think he has given us his best years, and it's been a total blast.
If anyone in Korea will organize some kind of collective thingy (like was done for Jaedong way back then) I'm totally in.

Nope I don't think Flash has done his service yet.
Frankly, I am not getting the impression that this is Bisu's BW career end. Alongside Jaedong he is the most loved and has the largest community of fans in all SC arena at the moment.
The amount of money he is making in these tournaments is insane. Just add all his winnings till one year back and you will see what a comfortable life his BW career has secured him.
Also, don't forget that he is possibly the largest BW streamer out there. I have not seen anyone else pull the number of live viewers he is pulling when he goes live.
If there is anyone with very little incentive to give up on competing in BW is Bisu.
So this is how you play against turtle zerg. Who says you gotta break zerg? Wait for them to try and break you and then attack... GG Bisu Take notes Rain

Wait for him to get the best army in the game of 200/200 with delifers and crack lings? No thanks./ Bisu won because of his incredible harass, control and multi-tasking. Not because he sat on his ass and waited for Larva.

Looking forward to having him back from military service. His dedication has added so much to BW, especially as the recent post-KeSPA scene has gotten off the ground. He plays Protoss like nobody else. It was great to see him end this chapter on a high note.
Very entertaining series. I think Larva had a chance at beating Bisu. His ZvP has been fantastic and let's face it, game 1 was just a fluke and happened to work Game 4 on Gladiator, Larva recovered well after he lost all those lurkers and ate that huge storm drop that killed lots of workers at his 3rd/4th. Problem is, he kept trying to break Bisu's fourth and in turn, had barely an army to defend his mineral only and subsequent expansions = gg.
WP by both. Really enjoyed the last game so hopefully both were somewhat satisfied though poor larva T.T

Protoss honestly has the stronger 200/200 army.
Yup, Reaver, Archon, Templar just beats everything pretty much. It's just so hard to actually make it to that composition, but it melts everything zerg has even with swarm.

Larva didnt have swarm and cracklings? And I’m not saying you autowin by doing that. But when the best toss (and best PvZ) in the world cant break through a turtled zerg with a 50-90 supply advantage, and wins a game without breaking the zerg and allowing it to max out, that has to tell you something.
my heart is broken, but going out after having nice series with flash and jd as well as winning a great pvz match gives me enough closure. Im really happy he stayed in good form till the very end and was motivated to deliver great games
Also, lets be real, if he decides to play again in 2 years he will still be one of the best in the world.

It does to an extent. The strength of Protoss is in small numbers, while the strength of Zerg is in large numbers. While Protoss may melt everything at the beginning with such a composition, a continuing aggression by Zerg will eventually break that down, specially with cracklings/swarm/plagu. You also have to take into account the cost of rebuilding such a composition in the late game, for protoss it's almost impossible, while for zerg it's rather affordable.

It is a fair matchup against sunk spore lurk, though.

Did you watch the game? If so, try to recall how Bisu's got his advantage on that game.
He tried to break Larva's natural, attacking the hat and while he was doing it Larva was forced to send reinforcements from the other natural. That's how you force trades as a P. On other maps the Z would wait for the toss to be fully committed to the sunken line to send reinforcements, but Gladiator is too big and if you wait you wont have the timing to sandwich the toss army. He put his units close to his natural to do the sandwich but Bisu caught that in the way.
How that happened? Because Bisu was attacking larva's static defense.
After that Bisu tried to break the empty main's natural Larva had taken. He fully committed there killing 8 or so lurkers, a lot of lings and hydras until larva managed to stop it with a nydus to reinforce.
Imagine if Bisu had waited for the nydus+adrenal to pop in the game. He would get raped.
His 2star corsair didn't do much because it was scouted, his initial drops didn't do anything, etc, What won him the game was attacking the turtle zerg.

Arguably. I disagree, but one thing you can't disagree is that Zerg's mobility is immensely superior. 2 groups of adrenal lings can destroy a toss base in seconds, add a defiler and it can erase a toss expo in less than seconds. It takes a lot of time to make the perfect D (storms+cann+reavers) and on a high level match you'll only achieve that D by forcing the Z playing defensively.

There will be an ASL5 right after ASL4 because "some popular players are going to the military this winter". This is probably Bisu and Jaedong, so perhaps they can squeeze a last tournament before going out?

The strength of Protoss is in small numbers? No, absolutely no. There is a reason Protoss needs to be at least 20 supply ahead in the beginning to have a chance to win a fight. Later on, when Protoss has tons of AoE that evens up. Protoss is strong when the armys gets to big. When they shut AoE everything. What the Protoss can't do however, is to lose his core army. Zealots and goons are disposable but you can't lose 5+ reavers, archons and templars every fight.
I just wanna say, I love this game so much. It really is a fantastic game, I have been playing this game since I was 15-16. I rarely play because I don't feel like putting in the time to train myself in the way I would need to play the way I want to. But I love watching it and the history and evolvement of the game is just so great and I am so happy to be part of it.
I did start watching pretty late, the July vs. Best OSL finals was the first series I really watched properly. But I have seen every single premier tournament since.
And I feel a weird mix of joy, sadness, nostalgia and excitement about the future thinking about this maybe being Bisus last game on the big scene.

Oh, you misunderstood me. Protoss will always lead in supply even if he has fewer units simply because of supply needed by protoss units.
What I'm saying is pretty much exactly what you said, that those AoE units you talk about are the strength of Protoss, so Protoss without HT/Reaver are basically dead, and a zerg with cracklings/swarm/plague will eventually overpower them. I guess a better way to phrase it would have been that Protoss' strength lies in small numbers of very specific units.
Isn't the thing about PvZ 200v200 that the protoss runs out of storms and scarabs before Zerg runs out of units? The reinforcing wave of cracklings then run it over?
Of course there is micro involved and how well you position your army etc but that is what makes a maxed out late game zerg so scary. The first wave depletes the aoe of protoss and the 2nd wave wrecks it. In very simplified terms.
