4 weeks ago Manifesto7 came to Korea for a week and we had a blast. He then went back to Osaka, Japan, where he lives happily married now with a nice japanese woman named Yuko. He returned and began his masters degree and resumed his teaching duties (he teaches little japanese punks english).
For the past 3 weeks he has not been online at all. Not posted on teamliquid, not been on battle.net, not been on MSN. Now, usually this is no need for concern but Mani is not the kinda guy who just goes missing like Mensrea...nor is he the kinda guy that would ever stop watching OGN/doing live reports unless he was physically incapable of doing so. His love for starcraft is even superior to mine, which is quite impressive considering how chobo he is. Anyways...I know his school worked picked up dramatically and he has had a lot of work to do...but still this is incredibly strange and I cannot help but worry about where he is at the moment. I consider him a good friend and I believe he would have told me about any leave of absence he was planning on.
I didn't do anything to piss me off, I'm definitely not blocked.
He's not just 'taking time off.'
He just finished a vacation to Korea theres no where he could have gone and if he was going he would have told me. Unfortunately I have no other ways to contact him beyond his private email address, which I haven't even bothered to try mailing. If he checks his mail he definitely checks TL.net.
So I call upon you, Teamliquid.net. Find Manifesto7. He lives in the outskirts of Osaka, Japan. His name is Trevor Allen. He teaches english. His wife is a jap named Yuko.
Find this fucker. Or atleast find out what happened to him .
I miss Manifesto7 too, he's the lifeline of TL.net. Maybe that's why all these dumbass threads have been popping up in the General forum, Mani must be the anti-dumbass mod.
Grave news indeed. I had also noticed his absence though I knew not it has been this long. I hope his whereabouts are found soon, I miss him much as well. >.<
Does his wife know about TLnet and/or his friends on MSN? If she did, and something terrible happened to him, then she'd probably make an effort to let his online friends know.
Unless something happened to both of them simultaneously...
Is there even a good, best-case, realistic explanation for Mani totally disappearing for 3 weeks?
On June 04 2006 14:35 Bill307 wrote: Is there even a good, best-case, realistic explanation for Mani totally disappearing for 3 weeks?
Maybe his wife found out about tl.net, and was apalled at the general immaturity shared by some of the more idiotic people on this forum. Being unpleased at the maturity level that her husband is forced to take part in, she banned him from visiting tl.net. However, I highly doubt this and I want Mani back!
lol, I don't think we should be overdramatic about it. Not having appeared for some time doesn't mean something bad has happened to him and no one should deduce such a thing even if he's gone missing for a much longer time. So, until we know how, what and why, save the drama plz!

This has no place in the thread. Please respect others opinions and concerns. You give no reason to listen to you; you are just commanding us. Missing for three weeks, as said by Rekrul already, is incredibly unlikely for Mani without some extenuating circumstances. Whether the circumstances are bad is left to the imagination and concern of the individual.
It's a shame Mani lives in a country for which TL.net has virtually no members. It's hard to check Japanese resources without knowing Japanese or living in Japan

What I took from his post was that people are being a bit too over-dramatic. Is it so strange to not use the computer for a couple of weeks. Maybe they're on their honeymoon. Or a second honeymoon. I don't know. Regardless, there's a thousand explanation at this point and people seem to be jumping towards conclusions.

.....
Do I really have to give reasons for backing up the opinion that common logic has to prevail over theoritical concerns about Mani's existense because he's gone missing 3 weeks from the net? please....
I didn't say this thread is useless, I just find it hilarious (and yes, stupid) that people go all long faces and make comments like "something could have happened to him and his wife" when no one knows facts

If something would have happened to his computer he would have let somebody know from another computer. If he would have went for a honeymoon or holidaytrip or whatever he would have told his friends before leaving. He's an addict to sc like all of us, he just doesn't decide to stop and dun even tell anybody.
I can't figure out what could have stopped him from letting anybody know what happend - and that's a lil creepy.

Imagine how the conversation would go
-Hello is this Manifesto7?
-NO I DON'T DOWNLOAD HENTAI
hahahah!!! ^______^
I seriously think they're on honey moon though, like someone suggested. And his wife LOATHS starcraft like all women do, ur girlfriend, ur mom, ur wife, ur grandma. T_T
If what the client has told us is correct, then 4 weeks ago (on Sunday, May 7th, 2006) a certain Trevor Allen (who posts under the alias Manifesto7) travelled from Osaka, Japan to South Korea, where he met with the client. His stay in South Korea lasted 7 days. This now puts us at Sunday, May 14th, 2006. Since this time, he has not been connected to the internet. This is the signal to us that something is wrong.
Let us examine the facts of the victim: He was living with a Japanese woman in Japan, who he is indeed married to. Being a foreigner in Japan, he would most certainly stick out in the crowd. After viewing evidence of the victim's appearance, he had red hair, an ominous stature, and some kind of red glow about him (possibly a medical condition, my senses point towards Rosacea). Point being, he certainly would be easy to spot, if he were to have gone missing in a country such as Japan.
He was an English teacher. Japan is a country with a very low crime rate, but the fact remains, crimes among youths are increasing year by year. The victim was in contact with young Japanese kids almost every day of the week, if he were indeed an English teacher. Investigation reveals that Japanese children usually attend school 6 days a week. Whether or not they have an English class on all 6 days has yet to be determined.
He was an avid StarCraft fan. Quoting the client "nor is he the kinda guy that would ever stop watching OGN/doing live reports unless he was physically incapable of doing so." This leads us to believe that a possible scenario for his disappearance is that something beyond his control is keeping him away from his contacts on the internet.
But what? Death? Imprisonment? Holiday? Computer trouble? Some vacation with his wife? Now that we have the basics of the situation and the facts on the client out of the way, let us make a deduction that could lead us to a probable scenario.
Death. The most obvious case. Did he have any reason to be murdered? Japanese nationalists or increasingly violent youth? Imprisonment. Drinking is a very social activity in Asian society, perhaps he partook in a drunken act that lead to him being arrested by the authorities? Holiday. Japan is a nation notorious for the number of festivals and holidays it's calendar contains. Upon further inspection, I can rule this out. The only holiday ocurring near the time of his disappearance was Children's Day on May 5th. Computer trouble is not a probable cause since he could easily use a PC cafe or his wife's computer. Afterall, if he really did have computer trouble, he would have found away to get in touch.
This leaves us with a vacation somewhere with the wife. But according to the client, this is near impossible "He just finished a vacation to Korea theres no where he could have gone and if he was going he would have told me" Also, the client is sure of one thing: He made it back to Japan because his school work had picked up dramatically. Plane crashes are now ruled out.
Perhaps we're looking at this all wrong. Was he really murdered in Japan? In three weeks time, surely a case such as this would have made headlines in Japan. Maybe the driving factor behind his disappearance is something he himself instigated? Criminal dealings in the Japanese underworld? Farfetched, to say the least, but it is a possibility. We all have our secrets, perhaps Mr. Allen's lead to his own demise.
What exactly happened in the days following his return to Japan on May 14th? We know he returned safely to Japan because he had some contact with the client. How else could he know his work load had increased? Also, after scanning the headlines and articles of various online English language editions of Japanese publications, I've seen no reports of a murderd foreigner. So, he is more than likely still alive. Possibly being held in confinement. This is the most probable cause of his absence.
But by who? My instinct leads to authorities due to high suspicion of foreigners and the very highly likely incident that he went out drinking one night during the week to release the stress of his school work and made a rash decision.
Of course, he could also be held by something or someone far more sinister. This case may turn out to be far deeper than I had originally anticipated.

Trevor Allen, as revealed in pubbanana's Holmie post.
Other possible explanations: - Rek + Mani are in cahoots - ninjas, thousands of them
I already checked where I could on google, his name is トレバー アレン, however nothing much regarding any english teachers came up with that name, only the movie director guy. I searched for news reports from 大阪 too, but even if there is anything, Google may be lagging, so don't know anything ATM.

it's not that I (we) think he really died, but it would be a shame if he did turn out to be dead and we did nothing at all for like 4 months. I personally think being married just takes up a lot of his time, his wife doesn't want him on sc every night, they had their first fight about this and now he's trying to do without sc for 1 month to prove he's not addicted.

Anyone want to do trial-and-error on the phone numbers for the english-teaching schools to see if a Mr. Trevor Allen works at any of them?
I'm not sure he even teaches at a language school, I thought he was a JET teacher, which most probably means he's a teacher in some public school. Which there is a fucking ton of in Oosaka, especially since we don't even know where exactly around Oosaka he is. Could be anywhere in Kinki region really...
Best shot would probably be going through JET, and asking them what they know about Mani, and if they don't, maybe they can give us some contacts.
I have ascertained photographic evidence that not only is he alive and well, but he has chosen to pursue an alternate lifestyle. I guess he was just afraid he would be met with intolerance and hostility if he continued posting here
Update: Google tells me that a certain Trevor Allen posted on a Canadian-based JET forum just over 1 year ago, explaining that on July 24, 2005 he will be on his way to Osaka-fu. I am currently registering an account so I can see his member profile, perhaps that will allow me to view any of the more recent posts he has made. An administrator needs to activate my account, so I'm waiting for that email to arrive.
Also if searching his name you must spell it トレバ・アレン with the ・ right? That is how foreign names are spelled I believe, first name then last name, separated by a ・ rather than a space.
On June 05 2006 19:34 thedeadhaji wrote: guys, his wife's name is Yoko right?
man that name can be composed of so many various characters. searching allen trevor as a string (since last name comes first) didnt give any results.
I tried to find if i can get a list of all residents in Osaka prefecture, but it's a long shot.
Hmm... maybe he is pondering how to eat a cantalope and rid the hickey on his neck while wondering about what 6/6/06 will do for his karma. Among other things, he probably is going about trying to figure out which side to take on every single debate ever made in the general forum.

On June 08 2006 09:56 RaGe wrote: isnt there some form of japanese white pages?
The link i posted a few pages back, is the library catalogue which includes all citizens in the Osaka-fu prefecture (among corporation lists etcetc). So presumably his data woudl be in there. However, they are suckers and do not list the info online =( It's in their civic library I think (in japan)
There are white pages most likely, b/c i've seen them in phonebooths (altho they might have been yellowpages) but again, we'd have to be in japan to get a hold of one.
Thus I proposed, if things get really dire, to make an international phone call to an Osaka-fu govt agency who could provide us with this information. A "Trevor Allen" in japan would be VERY easy to find for a govt office.
My gf is taking a vacation to Japan in a month or so, if for some unfortunate reason NOTHING has turned up by then (and if nobody in Japan already or will be there before her has accomplished anything), I'll try to have her help out a bit. Don't count on it though, since it's still a month away, but I'm offering this help because I'm genuinely worried at this moment.

I still think calling the Osaka Prefecture govt office for his house/apartment phone number is best. They prolly wont give u his address, but phone number, maybe. esp since rek knows mani in person ~_~.
Maybe he just quit SC and wants nothing to do with it and doesn't have his name in the phone book, yeesh. OR, he's been kidnapped by international law enforcement and deported to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, for suspected involvement in disturbance of the peace because his screen name on several internet websites is Manifesto7 and that remotely pertains to communism. Which one sounds more logical?
Can someone contact FakeSteve for Mani's information? Did FakeSteve gave us news about Mani's wedding? Seriously Rekrul, try every channel that you can to find out where's Mani, it's been too long.

No no... that's just plain silly if he got captured... I think he really IS in trouble, if he's quitting bw, why didn't he post a retiring statement? O god maybe he's had a bet w/ his wife, saying if I quit bw, the community will seek me out. And his wife challenged him, and thus he dissapeared. WE MUST HELP MANI WIN HIS BET!!!

Yup. And, then, when he wins the bet, he gets a threesome. Or wait, no, he definitely wouldn't have stopped there! I bet that he wins a fully scripted and animated hentai, with his wife drawn in as one of the main tentacle-lovers. Gogo kinks!
But, honestly. Hasn't anyone here stalked some poor girl hard and persistant enough to find Mani in two minutes tops?
Erf.. don' t wanna make everyone panic, but this whole topic reminds me of something that happened to me earlier this year. One of my best friend's father called me one day, telling me that no one had seen his son for two days and asking me if I had any idea of where he could be or of who could find him. I hadn't.. I told him he should call the police, and I called all my friends that knew him, we search everywhere, called a hundred person.. but he was just gone ! His father called me back the day after, he was incredibly worry, and so was I now (at first, I was just thinkin' that he had found a girl [had never saw him with one before..] or that he was walkin' somewhere [he kept doin' some huge walks in the city like that]), so we decided that maybe it was time to call the cops. The day after, new call from the father, my friend had jumped under a train in the subway three days ago. A video showed that it was clearly a suicide (man ! I'm shiverin' :s) which astonished all of us.. he was the happiest man on earth.. No one knows why he did that, even today. (one more thing depressing : when your husband is in trouble, if you're a lovin' wife, you're just scared as hell and incredibly sad, and that's much understandable if she doesn't think of us..)
Anw, all this to say that YAY ! We gotta find out what's this all about ! Call the FBI, create a special Tl.net team to go to Japan (I go there myself in september for two entire month.. I hope Mani will be back by then), contact every guy related to Japan we know, send him our energies to help him win whichever battle he is involved in.. FIND HIM and get him back !! All me thoughts to Mani (even if I never knew him ^^ now I wanna to ^^)
Well it's starting to look a little grim. He's a top guy and it would suck if something bad has happened to him. I have a feeling he's gonna show up sooner or later though, but what do I know, he could be anywhere

Not happening to Mani.
Mani is such a nice person (he even sent me a personal PM on my birthday), bad things do NOT happen to good people.
Has anybody posted this on other community sites or sth ? There are a few players from Japan playing pgtour why not ask one of them? Hell maybe some of them may live in Osaka.
click on topic, then go all the way down and click on english, they have a pretty small english site, but it has information like the school phone number. Maybe someone who uses internet calling (like Skype) can phone there this monday (dont forget about the timezone :o )
edit: or rek, you can call. calling japan from korea cant be that expensive, and even if it is, it's not like you dont have any money to waste

Mani will be there. He's made of stronger stuff than suicidal man.
I say we start an internet phenomena by posting in every internet forum out there, his picture, name, location, what he does, and why we love him. -_- So far up to the point it gets for the entire world to see :o, some comical genius, plz DO IT.
thanks to mynock i got a number to his school, i called while completely drunk as fuck, they said he was at work YESTERDAY and will let him know that DAN from korea is concerned about him in two days (its saturday and he isnt coming in to work till monday)
HE'S ALIVE!!!!
FUCK YOU MANI YOU DISSAPEARING MOTHER UCKJEI:FSDJKFD:JSKJERKNKLFUCKYOU!@!!!!
Today is Saturday. Today I recieved three calls. The first one was from Saro, saying that I need to check in with this website.
The second was from the vice-principal of my school, who is worried that I am in trouble in Korea. Through the commnication barrier he seems to think that this is a school matter, because somebody (Dan) is calling me at school. This is a very important man, and I am at the bottom of the totem pole... not a good idea.
The third is from my 78 year old terminally ill grandfather, because he was contacted by the Canadian Consulate. Apparently somebody has reported me missing and the consulate contacted my emergency contacts. Now my grandfather is worried that I am sick or dead, and waited up until 3 am to call me. THIS IS A DYING MAN PEOPLE.
THINK BEFORE MEDDLING IN SOMEBODY'S REAL LIFE.
Now I am sorry that I have caused worry. I apologize that I have not been to this StarCraft website for a few weeks. I am sorry that I am not on MSN. These are factors that are currently out of my control. My life is not one of a high school student, college students, or drop out. My life is pretty difficult at the moment, and I don't have time to sleep let alone work on StarCraft. The details are not really any of anybody's business, but suffice to say that I will not be coming back to StarCraft any time soon.
I found it pretty stupid that an entire community went to search for someone who went away for a week or two. People have other things to do than TL.net + Starcraft.
We definitely don't know the whole story, but it's natural that us here are simply worried about your whereabouts... No one knows it may have endangered someones life or make things worse for you

Dude on one hand I know exactly how you feel, you don't show up at a gaming website and you get those phone calls? "What the fuck?" Especially the Canadian consulate thing, which I think was really fucked up.
But dude you totally shut out contact with the people you know online for a whole month. Time does move a bit faster comparitively online, but a month without contacting any of these dudes, even if you only know them online, is quite a bit.
Maybe Rekrul went a bit far (again, the fucking Canadian consulate?), but dude it's totally understandable.
This is a really interesting case of evolving social tendencies. It's interesting to me that the lines between "online life" and "real life" have the potential to be not so separate, and why should they be? I understand that given the circumstances, the results of the inquery into his whereabouts were unfortunate, but at the same time, can we really say that friendships formed digitally are so much less important that "real" ones? I haven't experienced this before, but if I was in close contact with someone via the internet every few days and suddenly they disappeared, I would be worried for their safety just like I would anyone else. I only interact with my family over the phone 90% of the year, so really, what's the difference?
Again, I'm not taking a position as far as the rightness/wrongness of all this (none of my business), but I just thought it was interesting to notice the changing online/real dynamic.
overkill. dont blame Mani for this. god forbid he has a life. by the same token, Mani shouldnt blame any of us. good intentions, bad results. shit happens, everyone just cared a little too much.
okay, whoever called the Canadian Consulate, you can get mad at them. thats fucking stupid.
Lol, seems blown out of proportion all of a sudden. But then again hindsight is always 20/20, it seemed reasonable at the time, given Mani's track record and real-life friends.
LOL wtf, who contacted the CANADIAN CONSULATE and reported him missing? sry for the trouble manifesto but this is kind of comical, maybe the japs will think your big business having dealings in korea and canada.

What? Why would I do that?
Because Rekrul is a nice guy who likes to introduce himself to people he notices. I'm not saying he'll automatically make you a moderator... but if he notices you, you'll become a mod automatically by his doing.
I found many comments and points of view but non SUPPORT WORDS. Did you worry about him or about his starcraft work???
Mani life is not always easy but at difficult moments sharing worries with REAL friends (online or not) can bring you a little peace. I wish you strength and patient to overcome all your problems sooner or later.
