I don't really put any value in the end of DBZ. I am totally fine with the entire thing getting axed in favor of a longer story.
Yeah no official word on the manga. I agree with you, I love DBS and while there are silly power scaling issues, it's still very enjoyable. I am hoping they retcon the end of DBZ as that ending was bad imo.

I like it a lot as well. I know it has its flaws (Goku black endig, ToP power scaling etc) but I still look forward to it every Sunday. Hopefully it'll continue after the movie.

I can't see them actually ending the series when it's at one of the all time highs we've seen in terms of viewership/interest. Probably just going to start up again later in the year or in 2019 after the next movie comes out. There's too many plot setups to ignore and why would they actively ignore the easy cash crab from a business perspective. "Hey guys lets just stop selling this awesome product that makes us tons of money, sound good?".
As for the power scaling issues, it's really easy to start toning that down.

I wouldn't oppose a hiatus to let the manga catch up and to make a reasonable next arc, though.

For my criticism of the series, it comes from a place of love. This series has always been my sit down once a week, always have a new episode to count on kinda show. I've always been interested in where it might go, and I've always liked the world too much. I hope the next arc is handled better, because it can still tell some good stories.

I view the current arc as DBS' version of Frieza. Everything so far has just been in preparation for this. After the tournament, the real fun begins. The funny thing is, it wouldn't surprise me if a hiatus actually helped viewership.
In my ideal world, the tournament of power ending ends up being the perfect setup for the movie. Some sort of adventure to save universe 6. Or something. I don't know. But in my ideal world, the tournament of power sets up for a great movie, which then sets up for this new age of DBS.
I don't think all universes are resurrected. At most, 6,7,11 and 2 are the only universes that somehow have a future. But probably not 2. I will be very disappointed if U6/11 end up just straight up peacing out.
So what if the tournament ends up with Jiren straight up winning. U7 is erased. Jiren gets his wish, which ends up being insane in its own right. Hopefully not something like Jiren's lost lover or something. So then after U7 is erased and U11 is the crowned winner and blah blah blah, we get a like 30 second scene of Caulifla waking up like "where the hell am I!?". The movie ends up being about U7/U6 trying to escape some prison that actually contains all the erased universes, including the ones that were previously erased. By this time, those universes have grown cynical, depressed, evil and whatnot. Long story short, they manage to escape or be restored or somehow come to exist again.
When DBS comes back after the movie, it is the beginning of this new universe dynamic. Maybe the 4 universes that were excluded from the tournament believe it is wrong for U6/U7 to come back and it is some kinda disgrace. Zenoh is like "LOL WE'LL ALLOW IT!". But Zenoh also allows for the universes to fight amongst themselves?
I dunno ?_?

The problem is constant seriliasation, it harms the anime quality. These are the kind of series that are a pain to revisit. Not because of number of episodes but because they are really dragged out and lots of irrelevancies in between. You might like on week to week, but watching a lot in a row is a pain.
Kai was a godsend in that regard. Too bad the music was changed, the spirit vs spirit on gohan ssj2 still gives me the shills. I eagerly wait the dai original db gets the kai treatment. There is a fan cut that is good, but it still shows a lot of toei scene dragging.

The problem is...if it doesn't make sense to cancell because the viewership is good...it doesn't make sense to go on a hiatus either.
a few pages ago I said I believed TOP would be the end of super. It makes sense. They are fighting the stronger warrior from the multiverse who isn't an angel, where do they go from here? Maybe Toriyama decided to leave it there. Or maybe he is figuring it out himself. Maybe he wants other proyects, maybe he's done with super. Who knows. But theres a limit in how higher and higher they can go.
I do think DB will continue to exist in some form, there the movie and maybe they'll make more small movies like the one with Vegettas brother, and maybe, just maybe another series down the line, but as of right now I believe toriyama has no idea where to go now and that's why it's ending.
Also a prediction about freezer: He's going to die, while being dead, so he will be erased forever. Mark my words.

I think they did say there would be more DBS after this arc. Plus we have a movie. I wouldn’t panic, but would a hiatus really be worse than filler for months?

I tend to prefer the seasonal approach. Quality is much more consistent with releases when they don't have to produce something every single week. I don't mind at all if they step away for a few.

We don't have any reason to think Jiren would do well in the universes that didn't need to participate. I don't think jiren is stronger than Beerus.

This to me makes the most sense - confused Toriyama giving vague directions explains both why Toei's been winging it, and why there are so many loose ends lately that are interpreted as setup elements. A hiatus is probably necessary - but with Ultra Instinct so iconic and Jiren breaking the internet every other week, $uper is here to stay.

They released a statement yesterday regarding the ending and how it's going to continue. This...DBS whatever, is clearly a filler for the end of DBZ. They are trying to figure out a way to not have GT but I think we'll end up getting SS4 and Baby somehow. All of the powerups so far will just lead into that. But I think they'll use the universes they introduced as the new basis for DBGT and rewrite everything.

Hoping to see Dyspo brutalized and tortured today. Hype!

I don't think we'll ever get a SS4 or Baby imo. Not unless they completely retcon Super in the future. I imagine it'll be like GT never existed (which I am fine with even though I enjoyed GT). Hoping we get something next year.
Hoping the final episodes are amazing!

Good episode. Too bad Dipshit got a bit too dignified an exit. Guess he had some power left that he didn’t show versus Hit and Goku.

I called it. Not a bad episode. Wish Gohan had shown more strength and reached a new level, but I'll take this. Freeza is the best villain.

The only constant with any Gohan in any arc is that he will be a jobber. It’s just one of those DBZ tropes you have to make peace with.

Well, not the best chapter, once again it is ... Gohan.

really fun episode, gohan and freeza were great, GoD Toppo looks sick
