That's what Goku vs Krillin should have looked like. I'm really bummed they showed Krillin to be remotely near Goku. Krillin as a character has no reason to be anywhere near the level of a candidate for god of destruction. There are so many things that make Goku supposed to be unique. Krillin even coming close to making him move an inch is a huge disappointment. same thing should have happened with gohan, regardless of training he owned the crap out of super buu who was regarded as a powered up version of the most powerful evil being in the universe (buu), krillin shouldnt even be able to move gohan at all, and the Kamehameha battle should have been so oneside that krillian blast would have instantly been overpowered, but for a second it was even pushing back goku's blast WTF??? like how...i know they're trying to move away from "power lvls" but this is just making everything so cloudy...there was a reason that krillin, tien were falling out of the battle vs cell, buu. They barely could do anything vs cell, and as for buu they were just bodies thrown against the wall to buy time. Lastly goku has been training his base form...i cant believe he actually need to go ssj at all, his base power should have been well over the gap to push krillin to his limits. I hope they just have krillin get blown out of the water in like the first 2 seconds of the tournament...casue no hate on him but the way they progressed his character in dbz means he has no chance at fighting anyone but normal humans or the lowest alien races i just had to google this

Multiple times in the episode they kept bringing up and reminding us and Goku that its a proper tournament with proper rules and that brute strength alone won't be enough. Gohan losing makes sense. He lost by ringout. He didn't lose because of brute strength he lost because of strategy. Krillin wasn't going to beat Goku in brute strength so he tried beating him by being smart and using strategy. It almost worked until Goku went super saiyan and then Blue then he had no chance. Everyone knew that Krillin was gonna get his ass kicked when Goku went blue but Krillin still had the balls to go against it. Yes, he pushed back blue Goku for a second but then Goku easily pushed him back and if it wasn't for 18 he would've killed him. The entire point was to show that he got stronger. Hes NEVER going to be Goku level strong so people popping a blood vessel over this episode are hilarious. Most of the time I feel people complain just for the sake of complaining. By the way, this isn't entirely directed at people here, but at what I usually see when people are mad/being nitpicky. I feel like if people weren't so easily angered at the slightest bit of something being "wrong" they'd enjoy things so much more. You guys are at least more level headed then most.

He lost by ringout. He didn't lose because of brute strength he lost because of strategy. But Gohan shouldn't have even been moved. Gohan vs Buu and Krillin's presence in the Buu saga basically disallow Krilling from even being able to move Gohan. Gohan's speed should have basically been like Whis knocking out Beerus. Edit: I will say that I am happy there are other characters besides Vegeta and Goku getting developed, and I guess this is a necessary part of having Krillin be relevant somehow. This is a blatant disregard for power scaling and redefining powers, but oh well. We'll see where they take it.

The episode would be totally fine if the power levels wouldn't be that different, but they are. It's just completely silly to neglect it because you failed up to this point to write your story in a way where most characters can fight about equally. At least it wasn't as bad as i expected it to be after reading the first posts, it was indeed clear that krillin is weaker. But they still portrayed it as way too close in the end. And all that talk about goku needing more experience, etc when he is the guy who fought more opponents than anyone else, i don't know it's just disappointing storytelling. So while i think the episode itself was structured quite nicely, gave a little flashback to goku vs krillin in db, the kid believing in her parents, etc it simply doesn't work for dragonball and its characters. You can call it nitpicky but i think it's not even close to it

Goku obviously made short work of Krillin and any appearance of "having a chance" was him going kind of easy on Krillin. That fight was very obviously one-sided. In the preview, one of Toppo's buddies looks like a purple bunny, like Beerus except more like a rabbit than a cat. Meaningful?

I get it though. The truth is Dragonball Super is fan service. They are just giving me what I want and I love it. I get why some people don't like it, but like I sad, for me serious Dragonball ended with Cell. Now I just want to have fun with characters I have loved for years.

The whole thing became a parody. They even made fun of it in Resurrection of F. And that's because Toriyama was never thinking about the stupid power levels. Had the show ended at the Frieza or Cell saga I would be fine with that, but if you are going to continue the story from there, than yeah, I want to see some other characters as well. The only way to do that is either power them up or de-emphasize power levels a bit and have them be tricky. I think they chose the better option. Had Krilling come anywhere close to Goku in power people would be screaming ass-pull. I get it though. The truth is Dragonball Super is fan service. They are just giving me what I want and I love it. I get why some people don't like it, but like I sad, for me serious Dragonball ended with Cell. Now I just want to have fun with characters I have loved for years. the buu saga was great, seeing vegeta go majin was great, gohan getting mystic and kicking ass, fusion gotenks was...werid but i wouldnt say it was terrible, vegeta's progression there felt very true to his character and yet developed in a really honorable way, after the "intro" to the buu saga and all the sillyness that follows the rest of the eps were relatively seriously with great scenes, speechs and clear powerups. The power scaling while it went crazy high, stayed consistent within the story and it was not all brawn>everything, gotenks retarded tatics, picoloco having a backup plan by locking buu in the time chamber, buu absorbing gohan due to him letting his guard down and goku at the very end wishing for buu to come back (as uub because it was just that great of a fight. Everyone played a fantastic part in that saga. I really like having random whims and watching a scene from dbz on youtube, from the nameka saga, cell or buu as for super theres some moments and obviously theres way more to come, but right now i wish for more seriousness and less silly goku hopefully to come with this tournament. Goku and vegeta are still very much the main characters the desire to see them show how far they've come from the frieza saga means alot. Sayians are very much my interest in dbz (personally love the frieza story line with them)

It was clear to me that Goku far surpassed Krillin in power and he only went ssj blue to prepare Krillin for what he'd encounter in the tournament. Exactly. The whole point of the episode is that strength alone cannot win in the tournament and that you need to have tactics as well.
