Theon...unsure. I *was* hoping that all his history would nudge him towards doing something this time to save his sister but alas Reek is still buried deep in there. He might be the only one that can end up informing Dany about what happened though. Depending on distance and speed and where the fleet is located, Dany could send in the dragons (I doubt anything on Euron's fleet could even shoot anything useful at them), though I doubt she'll do that if the fleet is at King's Landing or too far away. Sansa needs to be a bit more careful with what she says. She knows Jon well enough to know his intentions and constantly backtalking his decisions to this degree is only going to tear a bigger gap in his leadership. Even if she's right about a few points she can be more tactful about it. Naturally Jon could've presented it a bit better. After all, he is the one that brought over the wildlings (everyone assumed he was mad), saw and fought the army of the dead and came back from the dead. If anyone should be allowed to meet with Dany and take a risk it would be him.

It's still somewhat entertaining but just because we remember why some of those characters were interesting before and we want to see the end...

His character has no meaning whatsoever anymore. Is there a fanbase for him? I found him annoying from the start, why isn't he dead yet? Daenys strategy makes no sense, Greyworm is so awkward, John Snow does something other people disagree with, Arya is a badass that sometimes has a heart for effect. Euron is the new super villain that teleports around, shoots burning megaprojectiles, the sand snakes are killed for fan service. Like seriously, could they have been more obvious in the "you wanted them dead well here you go!"? Honestly, I just see it as a result of constraint that the writers having to finish up all the storylines within 13 episodes. The way I see it, the whitewalker invasion storyline by itself can run at least 12-13 episodes, and the remaining Iron throne storylines can run another 12 episodes at the minimum. Instead they are forced to compress everything into 13 episodes, leading to a lot of shabby, underdeveloped writing.

Which is kind of funny to me because they've talked about running out of source material, well it seems like the pace of the show is really up to them, they've cut characters and arcs from the books to fit it into a tv show to pump up the pacing also to keep it a bit more follow-able but yet you see a sloppy plot driven result in an episode and wonder why they couldn't set things up unless HBO had it they that needed to wrap it up in x amount of seasons which why would they.

I often feel crazy because this is my opinion too, and I see everyone praising the show. In my eyes, post-S4 GoT is, for the most part, a good show, but a far cry from what it was in S1-S3. It's no longer the "top dog" on the list of shows I watch. The writing has not gone downhill at this point, it perforated through the ground and is steadily drilling on. I was astounded by the dialogue between Grey Worm and Missandei, and between Melisandre and Dany/Missandei. Beyond the dialogue, the real issue is the pacing. They really got it right during S1-S3, but it looks like they didn't plan ahead much. After S4, the pacing goes wild. S5 was very slow, S6 a bit faster, S7 is off the rails. It's a bit of a shame. D&D showed real skill at adapting the written material, but when it comes to improvising with their own content and their own pacing, they don't seem to be in their element at all.

Euron have promised a gift to Cercei, the young one should survive, otherwise there will be no one to rule the South

Some people love it because it means that we approach the end, but personally i think the interesting part of GoT always was the character interactions and the sheer amount of possible scenarios which could realistically happen simply because it was complex enough for it to be believable. Motivation of characters and the net of plots and subplots developed the future plotlines before, now that's not 100% the case anymore. It's not bad but after two episodes i am not seeing why people praise it to the extent they do,

A lot of people enjoy the simple interactions and don't care if it's super omg complex every episode and every season. Season 6 was probably the least complex season, but it's still good. People want to see the White Walkers actually do something. If you want the real super in depth, you'll get that in the future books I imagine. I like both simple and complex, so I enjoy it a lot and am hyped to see Jon and Danny finally meet this season.

Not quite sure why you mention the white walkers, they didn't do anything this season yet Plot advancement is fine, but it needs to make sense and have a logical buildup both character motivation wise and in context of earlier plotlines. That's where the show doesn't care as much anymore. Simple example: Theon and Yara steal a lot of ships, Euron needs basically a new fleet. There is no way this should be possible, but still here it is. You don't have to write it like that to have the same progression, it's absolutely fine to point out the problem with it. I am fully aware that it always sounds more negative than it should though, i simply don't mention all the good things (production value, etc) every single time. GoT has a certain standard there and it almost never disappoints in that regard. We really mostly talk about the story and thus writing and that's exactly where the show lacks compared to the earlier seasons. To quantify it, if the show was an 8-8.5/10 before then it's now more of a 6.5-7/10 in my pov. Something people never talk about, imo the show also lacks really great acting performances these days. It's not that the current main actors are bad by any means, but we lost really great ones in earlier seasons and some others simply don't get great material anymore (dinklage, coster-waldau, etc).

Basically at this point it's best to just watch the show for the battles and nudity. The story has been reduced to a nonsensical cluster fuck with awful writing that is thrown together to try and make some sense of the crap they've done. Forced irrational decisions to move the plot along everywhere, forced conflict between characters just for the sake of conflict, like Jon and Sansa arguing in front of all the other lords and neither being sensible or representing their point in the proper way just to drag out the confrontation. All that said, even though I rag on it like that, I do still enjoy the show. When it's good it is amazing. The fight scenes and some of the banter can be top tier for a TV show. It's still entertaining but holy fuck has the writing gotten terrible. I've completely given up on the plot and continuity making any sense and I enjoy the show much more because of that.

Too bad Jon wasn't there to see that battle. Those weapons would be preeeeetty useful in the North. And considering how quickly Euron whipped up his fleet, they can't be as hard to find as dragonstone.
