Actually, I started the first episode yesterday on a different streaming site. I went to bed midway because I was bored and sleepy. Today I tried to figure out where I left and I couldn't remember any of it. I then started the same episode on the site I watched it the day before and it's an entirely different episode, maybe even different show. They must have messed up the upload. It had some weird art style and some 80 villains standing in a room shit-chatting and then the whole city got teleported to a desert. Hm. Oh ok, so one more week of waiting. Thanks!

Tsuki no guren (the second garo anime) was absolutely fucking trash, so bad. I wouldn't say that the first one is similar to Vanishing line tho. To me they're similar in that they're well executed outside of occasionally having a hit or miss episode here or there due to the monster of the week nature the shows tend to have while they introduce you to the setting and characters. But in both theme and characters they're wildly different, Honoo no kokuin has a young and inexperienced Garo who has to learn and grow before he becomes a truly good character whereas Sword (Vanishing line's MC) is already a highly experienced Garo who knows what he's doing already. Also Honoo no kokuin takes place in fantasy spain during the 15th/16th century instead of modern day america like Vanishing line. Honoo no kokuin probably went for the inexperienced protagonist approach so that the viewers could learn alongside him what the franchise is about. + Honoo no kokuin and Vanishing line both have really high quality CG animation for their fights, guren no tsuki was done by a different team at MAPPA and looked like garbage

The soundtrack of Vanishing Line is also pretty great. Gets you all pumped up!

I'd say his manga are worth a read, they're very bizarre and just overall eerie. He also likes to keep things a mystery, so he's definitely not for people who NEED an answer to everything because he'll leave a lot of things up to the reader's imagination, not always but often. His art also has this weird inbetween of realism and grotesque. I am a big fan so i am obviously very biased.

Honoo no Kokuin's designs are better too. Vanishing Line is purposely over the top, but some aspects of it are just kinda excessive (eg. the neon highlights). The horror designs in Honoo no Kokuin also got pretty creative by the end of the show.

In other news, next season seems like Madhouse answer to all the "Madhouse doesn't to second seasons"-criers. 2 second seasons, Overlord and Cardcaptor Sakura. And an original on top of that. o.O

That wasn't a quality dip. It was intentional because they brought in a webgen guy from Taiwan and his team to make their debut and let them go nuts with it.

Those two things aren't mututally exclusive.

I am well aware of that. But if you look at Apo's previous episodes compared to the latest one there really isn't a quality drop at all because you can find the same rough patches of animation. The only difference is the style of animation for this episode compared to the previous ones.

were on a plane with Atlanta and Ruler going/planning to go at it then the next episode they went at it but all the other heroes had finished their fights to a degree. Like, red and black lancer were done the first round already despite us not seeing much and somehow that mage was hiding behind the rock? What happened to his sister and how did he even get there? Then achilles decided to stop Atlanta and they both passed on but it was really random. Felt like so many things were done offscreen... This whole episode was just terrible...
