Your inevitable death in April.

Her fate hinges in if the mangaka has the balls to actually kill her in the source or if its just a huge troll.

But it is a good show. Love the music. But isn't the tempo off on some of the pieces, like the very first piece? I thought the third movement of Moonlight Sonata was a bit faster than he played it.

Still dunno what to make of Yatterman. I like the style in some scenes, but the plot is pretty meh.

No, this one isn't perfect, but it's a damn better stab in many areas than most. I haven't seen the two mecha animes you mentioned, so this level of hard science-fiction I haven't yet seen in an anime. Argevollen is on Crunchyroll, so I will be checking it out -- curious why it's got a slew of bad ratings and reviews, though. We'll see, I guess. Probably similar issues as -- gasp -- Aldnoah.
As for Slaughter, same with you; seems like you're picking at specific language just to troll me. Yes, it's ambitious (to me.) It's specifically ambitious, if I need to cite something specific, in it's faithful hard science-fiction. It also takes on a plot that, while maybe not more complex than many other animes, does try to present a clever one. Ham-handedly at times, maybe, but it's fun. It's not unique to a tee -- see my comment on Code Geass -- but it beats a hell of a lot of other anime out in terms of an interesting premise.
Anyway, this started out as a good discussion, but somewhere it feels like you decided to just start trolling me with semantic-picking, and this feels like it's gotten rather circular. No idea why it's gotten to this point. Aldnoah Zero follows tropes and cliches. Lots of them. I mean the entire premise of "Humans with vastly superior technology who live far away from the Earth, governed by an aristocratical monarchy going to war with the Earth, who start dropping giant objects on the Earth to annihilate cities and wreck their planes and tanks" was done 30 years ago in the original Mobile Suit Gundam for God's sake. All the different Aldnoah Mecha from the first season? They were all modeled after a single mecha trope thats been around forever. I can accept the first one, the one with the shield, as being slightly out of the ordinary, but the Beam Saber one, the Rocket Punch one (the idea of Rocket Punches not being a cliche is incredibly hilarious to me), the one that transforms and combines, the ones thats really fast, do you have any idea how much such robots have been regurgitated in mecha anime over and over for the past 40 years? And then they find the Aldnoah Powered ship, well gee, that doesn't sound like Humanity finding the Macross at all. Is the instructor with PTSD not following a cliche? Is the princess not a big cliche? Please, tell me whats unique about Aldnoah Zero's plot or setting. I've seen practically everything in this show before, in some form or another. My general point is that since you clearly have barely seen any other mecha anime out there, save for Code Geass I guess, you shouldn't call it unique or ambitious, because you are simply painfully ignorant about the genre. Again, you're cherry-picking, for what reason I don't know. I specifically mentioned SnK to make a point that my qualm was based on a general observation, not specifically of the mecha genre or hard science-fiction, and I alluded quite a while that said qualm was a problem with the insecurity of the industry and their fear of fully committing to interesting concepts, instead falling-back on said tropes. This all stemmed from me throwing-out that I disagree with the seemingly extreme opinions on these types of shows: love or hate. I don't know why it's gone to cherry-picking my argument to discredit it for whatever reason, as it really doesn't seem like you've got any actual point or objective other than to show-off how much anime series knowledge you've got. That said, it is interesting to find-out about those two shows, so I am grateful for that. For what it's worth, I have seen the original Gundam, Code Geass, NGE (if that counts) and some of Escaflowne (though I wasn't a fan.) I think that's a decent amount for an "outsider," as it were. I plan on checking-out RahXephon based on a couple good words I've read here and there. No actual knowledge beyond that, though. How is it cherry picking? I've offered up several points that show big parts of Aldnoah Zero following some sort of established trope. I've asked IDK how many times now for you to give me an example of Aldnoah Zero being unique. If it is so unique, shouldn't that be an easy thing to do? Liking or not liking AZ aside, my problem is with you saying AZ is NOT just another anime falling back on established tropes, when it is. It is cherry-picking. I've explained myself explicitly, re-wording so you can more easily comprehend what I've been trying to say. Here's my original statement: "I don't get the hate for AoT and Aldnoah; it's really baffling that writers or studios who try cool, original concepts or clever writing get shit on." Ok, maybe I shouldn't have lumped cool and "original" together; god forbid I could mean and of the three factors separate or together. You might as well ask why people hate things on the internet.

+ Show Spoiler [Aldnoah.SPOILER] +Yeah, PTSD-senpai just thrown the fuck out for the second season. Been wondering about him.
The Moonlight Sonata does feel a little bit slow, but he's like 9, man. Give him a break. He's a robot in training.

Not enough Hawkchan this episode but still really good.
|
Inaho's sister was also thrown out of the plot
|
A/Z is full of tropes and cliches lol. It is entertaining in the way that they actually put some effort in scripting the plot, which is basic of making any anime, and then some not (extremely) overly predictable story/character development, i am sold on that.

I gotta agree with Sent on this one. While I love aldnoah and Inaho being fucking OP, I don't see it as being unique and I've only watched so much anime.
The show does get shit on here and there but such is the internet lol. Obligatory: fuck slaine!

What has happened to Cross Ange this week T_T + Show Spoiler [Ange] + Suddenly chill out and sports and whatever. And Vilkiss is OP as fuck, who needs repair when the it can self-repair
Also joining the fun that seems to be happening in the past few pages, fuck Slaine.
Nah, I kid. Haven't watched the new season yet, is it as bad as people saying it is? I have no problem with stuff being cliche or badly-written or whatever, but I kinda hate it that people don't die when they are killed lol
|
the problem with aldnoah zero s1 was its whole focus was on an entire species (martians) being insanely racist towards earthlings. this premise was just unbelievable, they completely failed at justifying it or making it in any way believable. it was just some weird fucking quirk that you had to accept "martians fucking hate the shit out of earthlings for no fucking reason whatsoever".
yes there is suspension of disbelief for ridiculous technologies or for inaho's miraculous solutions but it just doesnt work for "martians hate earthlings". there is no rationale provided apart from something like "martians are brought up to hate earthlings", which doesn't have any grounding to it because how could an entire race of people be "brought up" to hate another race they a) have never met before b) dont give a shit about because theres no reason to c) most importantly, it requires way more effort for a person to hate another person than it does for them to feel neutral about them, so what is such the strong driving force here ??
its different if in old movies you see racism from white americans towards niggers, those are at the very least two cultures that mix with one another and so have some tangible conflict that gives rationality to them growing to hate one another. there's a back and forth, there's some tangible justification for the interaction
for martians vs earthlings it is at the very MOST an intangible, theoretical teaching that earthlings are evil. but every martian character (apart from himesama god rest her soul) literally froths at the mouth at the thought of them. IT MAKES NO FUCKING SENSE
the rest of the anime is enjoyable but any time himesama's loli opens her mouth or someone slaps earthling-martian-boy round the face i just have to stoneface it and brush it off as an inexplicable, unfortunate quirk of the anime
yes im shit at names
|
Hime-sama loli name is edil rieto or eldi ritto or some shit .. i give up i just know i hate that little cockblock-chan
Yeah I agree the racism of martians towards terrans justification isn't convincing at all.
|
I found the worst part about the premise is that the whole martian expansion into extreme racism and culture divide is meant to happen within 40 years. Well actually even less, they do the whole war only 27 years after founding the "Vers Empire". That means within 20 years of being there with constant communication with earth they not only vastly outstripped earths tech but also had a completely different society that somehow completely hated Earth when at most there should be one generation that is actually purely Martian.
