I only have 2.65 left on my wallet, and I'm also thinking about getting VVVVVV, though I'm starving for cash. VVVVVV is a fun little and can be challenging at times, I plus one VVVVVV but then again I have only played Far Cry 2 for about 10 minutes. I played the VVVVVV demo a few times and I had some fun with it. The soundtrack is amazing. However, I already have a rage-inducing platformer in the form of Super Meat Boy, so I'm not sure if I should spend the money on VVVVVV or Far Cry 2 or perhaps another game later on in this sale. VVVVVV isn't nearly as hard as Super Meat Boy, there are checkpoints absolutely everywhere. It's more about the fun, creative levels.
Of course, if you start downloading the user-generated levels, that's a different thing..

i modded my skyrim to have such battles and it was a ton of fun, there must be some games around it? Must be singleplayer, though, because i want to be THE HERO. From what it looks like, you want to be a part of a fantasy army with the swords and spells and what not? Or would any army type game with huge battles do? What time period are you looking for? Red Orchestra 2 is WW2 its not important which time or setting, what i want is that there is a big battle ongoing and i am part of it. And i mean like an actual battle in the game, not storytelling that tells me i am in a battle. The games i listed have that, in freespace you always get deployed in some kind of battle as a fighter pilot, the battle can have some hundred ships and several destroyers and cruisers. In freespace a cruiser can even easily destroy the player in 2 seconds if he is in say air superiority fighter, because the player is just a small part and in that case would be responsible for protection against small aircraft only. Something like that, doesnt matter if i melee with a sword or sit in a spaceship as long as there is an actual battle that i take part in.
I am guessing that you would rather play as one person/cog in the machine, rather than take the "generals chair" like in RTS/4x games and such?

I played one user created level and spent the next few hours smashing the keyboard, those people are evil

._.
If you find a game like this besides M&B and Freespace I'm all yours. =S
I guess you could say the x series comes somewhat close but meh... not really.

I'm not sure what game is right for you r.Evo, Stars wars battlefront ll in conquest mode might be suitable but I dont think it goes to the extent you want. Basically you take over planets and use your fleets to fight, but then you become that ground trooper/pilot and fight as a person to win battle over the planet/fleet.

Thanks to everybody who gave their advises on RPG a couple pages ago :D I'll probably buy Divinity II if it wins the vote cause it looks like a pretty cool game. Maybe Fable III? Dunno, game looks interesting but reviews say the combat system is easy and boring
Also, a game I had never noticed before is Drakensang. It seems to have a nice Baldur's Gate feeling... Is it any good?

Deus Ex definately worth it's price though, I got it when it was reasonably new and the few negative things I can think about it are the spammability of takedowns and the endings compared to first game.
James Town was pretty nice indie game, which is in current bundle, but can't say about the rest.
Magicka is fun the first time co-op, but gets old reasonably fast, not a bad prize if you can get 3-4 player game and play though it even once.
I've heard good things about Crusader Kings 2, can anyone recommend it? One of my friends is trying to get more players so I'm considering it.
I would recommend CK2 if you look at it and think it might be your thing. I have said more about in a post above, but it mostly comes down to this. If you look at it and think "hm, this might be fun", it is probably your kind of game. But there are also a lot of people who would not like it, mostly because of what it is. There are very few actual flaws in this game, it is just that the basic concept does not appeal to everyone. I personally like it, but i also recognize that it is very specific. It is very competent at what it does. It is a very complex medieval statesmanship simulation, including all the weirdness it comes with due to the intermingling of personal and country affairs.
Depending on what you like most, one of the other paradox titles might also be more to your liking. Roughly:
CK2: Medieval times, concentrates on personal relations between nobles, very little tactics once an actual war starts, nobles are very much at the focus of this game EU3: 1400-1800, concentrates on large-scale development of a country, battle tactics are relevant, but not the most deciding thing, diplomacy is important, economic development is simple but important. Victoria 2: Colonial age, mostly complex interior and economic management. HoI3: WW2, mostly concentrates on battle tactics, diplomacy is not that important, economy neither, but it has a far more complex combat system then the others.

Hmmm, well reading on Freespace, it seems that it's a continuation of Descent. I haven't played either series, so I don't know how close it is to what you want.

On a polish substitute of ebay, civ gods and kings costs less than 10 Euro (legit steam version).

WTF?!
Dafuq why did ppl vote Risen ?! omg.... i wanted to get Two Worlds / Divinity II -.-

|
And with that purchase of Far Cry 2, my Steam account is now down to 16 cents. It has been a good Summer Sale for me.
And I got gifted Red Orchestra 2 :D

None of the recent votes have gone the way I wanted them to which is crappy because a lot of the daily deals are recycled.

Just a note, you should double check to see if your RO:2 isn't the free weekend gift version.

Ok I was hoping for a different game but is Risen worth $4.99? I'm lacking a fantasy based RPG and I really need one, this one any good? Verdict?
|
Risen 1 is not bad, its a solid RPG - but the story is meh and some gameplay mechanics are really annoying (you can't teleport and have to walk alot!)

It's free on gamersgate's void, which is an ad supported game service(also free), is it worth 5 dollars to have fancy steam icons? I dunno

Bummer with the community vote, Divinity looked really cool - Risen... the trailer sucks and doesn't look nearly as fun.
|
i voted for divinity, too. I allready have it, but i want others to have it too. Same with The Last Remnant.
i never played risen, is it like gothic 2? Then it could actually be fun. Its the same company that made it.

Spent 53,86€ so far and got 14 good games, for the price of one new game. Thought I was below 50 euros though, dirty steam sales. Set myself a 90 euro budget so it's going well anyway, and I have things to play for a very long time now. Still waiting for that damn Arma II though.
Only purchase I'm regretting is Crysis 2, most expensive one and pretty disappointing compared to the original. I mean come on no female voice for the suit!? And on a lesser note it's way linear. : (
