How do i move my armies through other countries to reach these far countries? Theres attrition when i have armies on other provinces that are not my own only if i have a higher then allowed supply that i get now, do my own provinces have attrition caps too? They should be higher then enemies provinces right since my people would want to help..? To regain manpower in an army does it have to be standing in a owned province? \ Anyone have a link to a good beginner user guide?

If it's not one thing it's another. Fucking Poland/Bohemia/Austria/Novgorod. Even Denmark fucked me over one game.

Thinking about playing again since Divine Wind is out and haven't tried that yet. Not sure if I'm ready to spend huge chunks of my time playing this game (again) though. Sure you do. PIRATES. I find them completely game-ruining and tried to edit them out (changed their culture to new_world, set naval tech to 1.111 as suggested by some guides), however, they keep fucking spawning. I overwrote my current safegame with the PIR= part of one before they spawned (+the edits to new_world/tech level) and this removes all current ships from the game, however, after 24 days they show up again. I don't want to debate if it's good or not to remove them, I just want them gone since I think it's a horrible "feature". Any ideas? (Current 5.1 beta patch)

I just let my ships out of harbor and set them to Patrol my coastline and I never have an issue, ever. It's like three buttons you have to press. Perhaps it gets worse later on in the game when you got to deal with Colonies in South/North America and Europe, but from my European/African campaigns I've never had an issue ever.

Nowaday I prefer to play Victoria 2 instead but EU3 was still super fun, though I have not played the more recent expansions. Would someone care to convince me why I should rebuy EU3 and all of its expansions over Victoria 2? I mean they're obviously a bit different but Victoria 2 is a lot deeper than EU3 vanilla. well you dont have to buy it at all, just download from torrents and install them its pretty easy if the money is a problem. i can help in private or can write a guide here if u have a problem with installing the torrent ones coz lots of people actually fail at it :p and yea with the recent expansion packs and patches/dlc and mods the game have became much more deeper and entertaining and balanced than u would expect or any other paradox games

It's just that if I already have Victoria 2 and HoI3 and many other games such as M&B Warband then getting EU3 again might leave me with no time left at all!

Somehow my econ just sucks. I've got good stability, 2% inflation and it seems fine and dandy, but I can't even afford to upgrade to level two trade/production, which seems pretty essential for income. Seems like loans and shocking up inflation is a bad idea. Am I missing a national idea? I have no interest in conquering America or Africa, I just want all of Europe. I know econ is a problem so I spent my 3 current ideas on stability, taxes and trade. Should I get reduced inflation so I can take more? Something's obviously wrong. I don't pay my military more than say 30%. Also anyone wanna play over hamachi? :3 Edit: There are sliders that look really good, like centralization, plutocracy etc, but playing as France I can't get to them without passing the red border.. is it worth it? >.>

Edit: The best national ideas and the two you should get early are the +1 morale idea and -0.10 inflation.

Basicly I have so much ground to cover that when I'm going to war vs England I have to decide between all ports being blocked or them raping my entire fleet one by one. :S You used to be able to simply remove them from savegames, but I can't get it to work. None of the pirate mods that used to make them awesome threats instead of annoying flies seem to work for the current patch either. QQ.

One idea would to split up cogs and just land over troops while you keep your fleet on one stack on patrol across your borders. Assuming you go in from France or so the whole landing thing takes really short time. I've never had issues with pirates, but then again I'm playing on a pretty low difficulty.

If you're going to remove every bullshitingly hard or annoying thing from this game as you progress, you might as well just go play Civ 5 or something and save yourself some time. Pirates are annoying if you let them be annoying, but you shouldn't delete them from the game because you don't know how to handle them.

Pirates are annoying if you let them be annoying, but you shouldn't delete them from the game because you don't know how to handle them. As I said, the issue if that's something to recommend or not is entirely different. Personally, I believe that pirates become from non-existant to everywhere within milliseconds and not dealable with unless you have a large fleet is stupid, not realistic and therefore something I gladly remove or mod. Not to mention the issue of chased away pirate ships to all stack in one place. I had one previous game where AI controlled London was blocked by 80 large pirate ships while the AI kept sending smaller fleets to their death in there. Magna Mundi or other Pirate mods out there all deal with this issue in one way or another since the vanilla version is just bad. I solved the issue with waiting a few years to gain complete naval control before I could deal with the pirates, however, now the Ottomans are blocked off completely. Trollol. ;S Guess the removal of Pirates via savegame edit only works before they get their naval tech 9. Oh, well.

Most simple thing you can do if you want them to stop bugging your harbours is just placing like 1-2 ships every 5 or so coast provinces and pirates wont come anymore. That's at least how it worked for me with Britain and my pirateproblems in Africa
