RF optional. | ||

I was avoiding scorching ray only because I play a lot of wiz in D3 and it's really similar to some of the popular leveling/starter spells there lol. I've been curious about RF but never pegged it as tanky just because of the life drain (even though I know you get big fire resist, regen, etc). Might look into that.

The setup is stable where your life drain is less than your life regen with these sorts of builds.

The reddit opinion on them seems to be they're terrible, but I also saw upvoted posts on reddit suggesting the summoned mobs should be blue and rare instead of white and drop loot (when they already were blue and rare at times and always dropped loot, including maps) so I'm not sure how seriously I should take their opinions. There does seem to be sizeable buff to Horizon orb shards, and as someone who doesn't care about maximizing XP/hour that's actually really neat since they act as Chaos that help you unlock more of your atlas.

SR is a good option for these kinds of max-block builds, but it's not the only option. Life-based max-block Vaal Pact Scourge necro blade flurry would be a very tanky melee character, for instance. Or hybrid max-block Aegis Aurora inquisitor using basically any elemental spell. You could also go one of those builds that scale their damage by stacking health, like RF (as your main source of damage, not just as a damage boost for SR like I suggested above), Dark Pact, or Brutus' Lead Sprinklr (though that last one's very expensive). That's an easy way to guarantee that you'll be pretty tanky. *edit* Another option: MoM Essence Drain trickster. Very easy to get super high health pool and ridiculous regen on this type of character. Luckily I survived, don't want to test my luck for a third time though. Anyone else crashing since the latest patch? I've had the Vault boss crash since 3.0.1, but no other crashes.

Didnt think much about it and dropped it unpriced in stash. 10 mins later 3 guys that wanted it for 60c. Pricechecked and well, i knew you couldn't 6 link it and 60c was same price as cheapest "normal" ones. So I traded. 15 mins later, while i was sorting my stuff ready to log out, Guy that traded with me whispered: "dude, that belly is damn low" I answered: "I know" and went to bed with the biggest grin. Accidental scamming is best scamming.

The Harbingers are pretty dull I agree, but I figured they kept it pretty basic so that people could focus on experiencing 3.0 or something. I'm sure a lot of the gameplay features that are new to me were actually league ideas in the past that got rolled into the full game.

People compare 3.0 endgame to those leagues and feel like they get way less out of their time now. But the league mechanics are only partly to blame for this. Lots of cheap busted builds got nerfed, and the effect of the positive effect of new orbs on mapping is mainly visible at higher tiers. But harbingers don't slow casuals that much, binding orbs increase the flow of budget items, and beachheads are still pretty good.

It is not just lack of currency but Breaches were more exicting and more thematic. Different harbingers don't feel any different to me. Also you didn't need to access t15 maps to start running league special maps. You could start running Xoph domain pretty early.
