I wouldn't say that Women's International hockey is better, it is a 2 horse race between the USA and Canada, which is not that exciting considering none of the games really matter until these two meet in the championship game(they are good games when these two meet, but other than that it is very boring to watch). Grats to Team Canada though!
i guess you missed the american girls balling their eyes out at the 2006 Turin games. it was some of the best post upset finger pointing i've ever seen. at this event Canada defeated Sweden or Finland or Norway or 1 of those northern countries by only 1 goal.
i just love all the open ice in the women's game.

Hey guys i just came here to say
GOOO SENSSS GOOO
I hope Alfreddson will be okay though

God, I hope Alfie was OK. Watched the video of hit in slow motion again, and it looks like Alfie is trying to duck, but Haglin seems to be head hunting. Ugh.
|
I'm rooting for Phoenix, but WTF Chicago, two games in a row they tie it in the last 20 seconds to force OT !@#$ I guess all you need is a little urgency (and their top 6 stars) to get things going huh?
|
I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see other Sens fans here, but hell yeah! Go Sens Go!
The game tonight was brutal, so many cheap shots from both sides... instant bad blood. Can't wait for game three, hopefully Alfie is ok... if not we're likely to see Butler in the lineup =/

Come on...the games are a lot slower and only two countries know how to actually play. I imagine this was what the NHL was like in the 60s.

No idea. Its not like he suddenly plays 100 times better in the playoffs like Franzen does in Detriot.

Only two countries know how to play, and as it turns out our team is the only one who has ever played hockey as a contact sport before. Some of the girls on the Canadian Olympic team were pretty imposing compared to other countries girls. The largest girl on the American team was we 6'1 153 lbs, Canada's was 6'6 190.
And actually... Womens hockey has a significantly larger percentage of concussions than Mens hockey because the womens game has no body checking, so there is less need for players to try and protect themselves. Then accidental collisions happen and people get hurt because their heads aren't up... I may sound oldschool when I say this, but it obviously isn't girls going out trying to take each others head off because as from slight rub-offs every 'hit' is penalty. It is rather common to see five minute majors get handed out for a perfectly clean hit that wasn't particularly effective.

I'm so mad at PHX for losing this... GOD, how is that possible?

Which station was that?
I've never heard of him referred to as that on any Vancouver based feed.

Man Luongo always gets hung out to dry, and now they're starting Schneider. Gotta feel bad for him

I don't normally watch hockey, but the playoffs are an exception.
This Flyers Penguins game is madness.
|
can't believe this game ... just insane

It took, what, an hour and 10 minutes to play a 20 minute period? Spent (way) more time fighting and figuring out penalties than playing.
|
Yup... with 72 penalty minutes
|
This game is crazy. Pittsburgh is playing like a bunch of little tykes.
|
Arron Asham makes me 100% disgusted to be a Penguins fan. You can deal with everything else, but that looked pretty bad. Gotta wonder what the fuck happened. 2 weeks ago they looked like world beaters, now they look like they couldn't even beat the Canucks.
