Mechanized units really aren't a problem, ethereals and other MC stuff are. I generally try to overkill them as soon as I see them.

I'm hoping developers make more of these games. Did you miss the fact that this is a remake of a 18 year old game? oO

Because that's the way it should be :D Actualy when its 10% we dont waste the shot and do something more useful with the action instead :p

Hey, Fallout is not fair :-) The guy specifically said global management and tactical turn-based combat. JA2 is a good example though in my opinion it involves a little bit too much AI abuse :-)

X-com 1, 2, 3 - all superior in all elements Rest are superior in some elements, and equal or worse in others: UFO Aftermath, UFO Afterlight, UFO Aftershock X-com: Extraterrestrials UFO: Alien Invasion And then we got Xenonauts coming soon whose Demo has more options then this game lol. And X-com: Extraterrestrials 2 Then JA2 as was mentioned although that one is a bit different. BTW, I said some of them are superior but all of them are similar.

In the Afterxxx series the management part was really well done but the combat was pretty bad. TFTD is just a re-skin of the first XCOM for the most part, with additions (the ship missions) being pretty badly designed . UFO: AI was horrendously buggy the last time I tried to play it but even ignoring that it felt sort of pointless, not bringing anything particularly different from original XCOM, I'd rather just play the original. Besides, I'd like to know some games that are not remakes of XCOM 1994 in one way or another :-) Just for the record I am a huge fan of the XCOM series and I've been playing the shit out of those games ever since they were made and I honestly think this new XCOM is pretty good. To me it's like XCOM 1994 > XCOM 2012 = XCOM Apocalypse > UFO: Afterxxx > all other XCOM wannabe crap :-)

You can't use cover in any way You advanced the plot too fast. If you do the researches marked "priority" before the weapons upgrades, you get stuck in an unwinnable situation. Really retarded that they tied the appearances of alien types to the plot rather than to elapsed time, but it's not like they did anything else right, either.

And you don't rush in with your whole squad, there's a reason why assault can specialize in all sorts of defensive stuffs. Scout with one unit, while rest cover. Spot enemies, run back. Maybe they'll follow into your overwatch fire.
