LOOOOOOOOOOLololololol. HoN requires more knowledge and skill than DotA!????! Seriously just quit plaing straightaway if you think so. Please spectate some professional DotA and then see if you can tolerate any professional HoN ! Also while you're at it, you have all the freedom to stop spouting BS like that!
Sorry, it's true.
before you reply: take it to PMs, I'm not going to argue with you in public when that's the way you address posts.

how can it be unequivocally true? you certainly didn't do any studies on it and i seriously doubt 'playing all three extensively' constitutes anything other than opinion, provided you played none of the three at a remotely high level
so i suggest "sorry, it's true" should be rephrased to "sorry, i think it's true based on X" and then we can debate X because as of right now, you are definitely wrong.
So, I've been trying some HoN lately thanks to BlazingDucks (TL username unknown..) for letting me use his account. much <3
Last time I tried HoN, about a year ago, I played about 10 games and gave up. This time, I'm trying to have a more open mind about it. I've played about 50~60ish games now (PSR 1650-1700).
Compared to DotA, things I like:
- Obviously the Matchfinding system is really neat - People try to balance out the hero composition to some extent - Teamspeak, when it's not a whiny retard - New heroes seem fun and well made. I stay away from them though. I'm still getting a feel for the game with dota ports I'm familiar with. - Hotkeys for items, it's a nice touch. I think I can find everything I need within 3 seconds now. Haven't tried any of the HoN items except striders though. Which ones are good?
Things I don't like: - creep/tower AI is different. I can't explain how, it just is. - heroes are mostly the same size and hard to identify. I'm getting better at it but this is the biggest issue for me. I usually remember heroes by color and plot them in my head before engaging in a team fight - visible mana bars for enemies is a dumb idea - Whining, blaming and trash talking. I can deal with plain stupid but I can't deal with blind/deaf people. For example, one game all my teammates turned on me and started selling me out (letting them know where I was in all chat) because I went dagon on storm. Apparently I'm noob for using int treads too. I hate to generalize, but seriously... fucking Americans... some of them need learn to stop talking. This fayde was yelling at me (rhasta) to babysit her by harassing tempest + wild soul lane... Here's another, a Chronos that went midas, MoM, bfury less than 900hp 30+ min into the game yells at me (bubbles) for being useless when he dies 3v1 and I was 2 screens away trying to stay alive vs a fed night hound. - People who call a vote to concede every 3 minutes. I'd rather play with someone that doesn't concede until megacreeps than those kind. So many games could've been turned around if crybabies would just shut the fuck up and play properly. - People want to solo with every fucking hero... which is why I often pick assumed solo heroes so I don't have to deal with possibly retarded shit. - Trees are too blocky.. juke routes are harder to tell - Is it just me or does it take longer to revive?
Yeah, so basically I'm mostly not happy with how heroes don't have distinct looks from each other and retards because I can't just mute or custom kick them from the game any more
midas got buffed, probably a good pick up on chronos. I don't have a problem with identifying heroes, if you have trouble though switch on "friend / enemy" colours, so your allies are green and enemies red.
I vote concede myself quite often, sometimes even after a won situation to keep the guys aware that this isn't won yet. At least that's what I feel like^^ (3x the concede votes then actually conceded)
About the people, well... imho play only banning pick, there are the most reasonable people.
Heen, message me on HoN and I will play some games with you. Are you still in Korea? What server can you play on that doesn't give you 300+ ping? o_O)?

About the bolded part:
that's bannable. (against HoN's TOS), use the report function
hmmm

1st part: I don't know, never playded dota 2nd part: actually imo I like it like that way, but I guess for someone transfering from dota I guess I get what you mean..., but eh, I just remember the heroes how they look + hero's color, but w/e) 3rd part: hmm, I guess, whatever 4th part: already covered part of it, other part: you might want to find a playgroup to play with, rather than playing in pubs 5th: same as above 6th: same ish as above, I haven't played in pubs o.-, but bleh 7th: never played dota, so I can't compare, but ok 8th: the more higher level you are (+ more deaths you have) the longer it takes for you to respawn, idk compared to dota though.
mute -> you could just mute voip, but if they are talking in all/team chat, then yea, you can't.
at least if you're playing in public games (read: not the Auto MM) you can block/ban/whatever/forgot the name of the thing/whatever people, though it wouldn't "block" them from joining your games, though it'll alert you if someone on that list joins the game...

Which ones are good? a lot of hon items are pretty sick. chalice and striders are the most widespread, the new midas is pretty sick, spellshards are a good pickup on some heroes, can't really think of others off the top of my head now and yes hotkeys are win
Things I don't like: - creep/tower AI is different. I can't explain how, it just is. it's slightly different basically tower attacks closest unit, prioritizing those that attack heroes over those that attack tower over those that attack anything else. judgment is made at the startup of animation (hence why if you're trying to run from a creep wave around the tower, the tower will attack the closest melee creep, and then suddenly switches to the ranged creep and you're like 'omg noo') to aggro creeps, you gotta be close to an enemy hero when you windup your attack animation, it's not global range like in dota - heroes are mostly the same size and hard to identify. I'm getting better at it but this is the biggest issue for me. I usually remember heroes by color and plot them in my head before engaging in a team fight i think this'll get easier with xp - visible mana bars for enemies is a dumb idea :O - Whining, blaming and trash talking. I can deal with plain stupid but I can't deal with blind/deaf people.
