Spartan, Aries and Shooter were dropped, Ace, Chig and Mikwen were picked up.
This kind of thing happens all the time in pro Halo - back in the glory days, rosters used to change pretty much after every MLG.
It's a smart decision. I knew nothing about Spartan or Shooter, but Ace has established himself as one of the best players in the world, Chig has been around for a long time and is very solid, and Mikwen really established himself during the Halo Reach days. Add in Ninja who can dominate on his day and you have a very solid lineup indeed to challenge the big boys - though I still think EG is far and away the best team in Halo right now.
It's just such a damn shame they have to play such an awful Halo, and can't play one of the older ones. Hopefully Halo 5 is good, but I doubt it.
From what I have seen, 343 has yet to recreate the magic of Bungie's games. Unfortunately, I don't have high hopes for Halo 5. Best of luck to TL nonetheless.
Bungie isn't a literal god of game development if you take a closer look at their later titles, while 343 outside of MCC's fuck ups, has been consistently doing some good job regarding Halo 5. Namely:
Commitment to 60fps, and their technical prowess showed in that with a stable performance from analysis of the gamescom build. Mobility, the new thruster abilities made a huge difference and added an great layer of skill ceiling. Weapon diversity, AR/Pistol start being viable? Unheard of since CE. Reduced aim assist: a change long overdue, let the player's skill shine.
I'm not about the thruster or diversity stuff, personally. Halo for me was always about its uniformity - 4 players, symmetrical map, starting with the same weapon, so that it was individual shot vs shot and teamwork vs teamwork, no gimmicks, nothing else. But I suppose that just comes down to preference.
Halo 5 has EXACTLY those. All the armor ability, perks, loadouts are gone, some of the feature wise things like grenade indicators are gone as well. Everything we've seen from the arena modes are all about equal starts, weapon control, map space control, skill jumps and alternate route, with the added mobility and almost no aim assist it might be the most skill based Halo ever.

Quit exciting me, dammit. Excitement only adds to the inevitable disappointment.

Well just watch pros playing the game at Gamescom yourself:
Looks okay, I guess the gametypes will be refined - I prefer BR starts, and if it's pistol starts, to not have neutral BRs on the map. Shotgun as a power weapon is also a bit meh for me. Map too looked a bit icky, and I wasn't a fan of the look of the BR.
But the gameplay looks alright. More like Reach, which was far from perfect, but better. The aim assist was very apparent, which is good.

Added mobility starts to eat away at the relevance of map control, though. This is something sprint already began to do in Reach. Boost is basically a grenade-avoid button, since they were dialed up weighed against your ability to evade them with standard movement, going off sooner and larger.
imo 5 is shaping up to be possibly the least of all the evil incarnations that have dithered and withered halo since 2, with some fun new stuff that inherently destabilizes the halo formula and unfortunately downplays a lot of what makes it such a great game, competitive or otherwise.
But, with the right tuning it might be a triumphant return. I'm most excited for what vaulting adds to map design and ninja move possibilities.
I just want halo 3 with hitscan DMR and sprint ruin most maps. I just hope all those pros 343 has been talking to are not ignored and we end up with a product worth watching this team play on.
Changes make the team better overall, just a shame that spartan and shooter had to go to make it happen.

The new pistol is amazing, it is a completely viable utility weapon even against BR and DMR, I've seen plenty of scenarios when pros choosing to keep the pistol in favor of a BR or DMR, the weapon variety right now is fantastic.
Solid picks. Chig has always been good, and Mikwen has gotten so much better since the days he teamed with Elitest. Ace is top material of course. It's a bit sad that the Status Quo team breaks again, but Ace teaming with Elamite (Liquid's coach and his brother) is somewhat fitting.

Not quite since you could only change two players without losing the team's seed. But those two were swapped out a lot.
Do the Ogres twins still play competitively? I don't follow the scene right now but I trust TL choices for their rosters, I might watch pro Halo again to see them perform .

Ogre 1 is no longer playing but Ogre 2 is, he is currently on CLG.

I hate when I see people like you who go around stating your opinions of halo as fact. Fact is bungies Halo games were popular and worked out of the box, 343s have not.
Thrust pack doesn't raise any skill gap, it allows for people to make bad decisions and get away with it the same as sprint that's why we as the competitive halo community want sprint taken out and will live with thrust.
They don't have split screen on h5 and they are releasing the game with no big team battle maps, they screwed up in halo 4 and the master chief collection launch was a failure and doomed the game before it had a chance to grow.
Aim assist is the least of anybodies worries, there was heavy aim assist in Halo 1,2 and 3 and those games were by far the most successful. Weapon diversity is good as long as your automatic weapons that don't as much skill to use as your single fire weapon are toned down, right now 343 had the automatics so powerful from mid to short range even somewhat long you can melt an overshield.
I get you're one of the sprint fanboys and all that but don't speak about skill gap when you are not a competitive player and don't have hands on experience with the latest build of H5. Thank you.

I don't even know how to take this. Do you spend a lot of time angry at yourself?

While the first sentence is questionable, pretty much all his points are valid. Most of the changes 343 has tried have made the competitive scene worse. Trying to make power weapons into drops, booster, buffing the AR, headboxes that are larger than they really should be; they all lower the skill needed to kill a good player. That's why none of these things should be in competitive game types when they get made.

There was next to no aim assist in Halo CE, then they added a decent amount more in Halo 2 and more still in Halo 3 (which suffered more due to latency and the lack of hitscan), then for Reach it became casual city where anyone could 5shot with the DMR or snipe like Snipedown.
The new pistol is amazing, it is a completely viable utility weapon even against BR and DMR, I've seen plenty of scenarios when pros choosing to keep the pistol in favor of a BR or DMR, the weapon variety right now is fantastic.
