The former Counter Logic Gaming European League of Legends squad is close to signing a new contract to be Evil Geniuses’ first League of Legends team, according to team sources.
Consisting of star players Stephen “Snoopeh” Ellis, Henrik “Froggen” Hansen, Peter “Yellowpete” Wüppen, Mitch “Krepo” Voorspoels and Mike “Wickd” Petersen, the deal is said to be done soon, with Evil Geniuses outbidding Azubu in the final stages. This would mark the first time Evil Geniuses have picked up a League of Legends team. Counter Logic Gaming is one of six teams automatically qualified into Season 3 of the League of Legends Championship Series.

Stopped reading there.

TBH they're probably fit right into EG. wouldn't be surprised if they were looking to clg.eu's contracts coming up for a long time and getting the big money they needed for them in line.
can't wait for the inevitable EG vs EG match up.

Interesting to see that it came down to EG or Azubu. I feel like Azubu would have been a better choice considering they already are in the LoL scene and this would have presumably allowed for them to scrim against Blaze and Frost (ping aside). Although I guess EG has the big bucks to lure them in.

I can't really blame anybody in the eSports scene staying anonymous. Most of the communities are still relatively close and that means doing business with everybody that you might be spoiling things for. That said, trusting Slasher's reporting usually isn't a bad idea.

Guys relax. It's a joke.
Nobody's saying it's not true, it was pretty damn obvious...

If you look at ESPN, CBS Sports, CBS Sports, FOX Sports, blogs such as Bleacher Report and SBNation - all of them use sources - always anonymous and most of the time without attributing to anything when dealing with player/team signings, trades, and contract negotiations. Really, go do some searching now, and it'll be this way for all sports, players, teams, and outlets.

Also, between EG and Azubu, the advantage of practice partners would almost be completely worthless with the ping. Also, EG needs to look into the LoL scene to remain in the top of all the esports.

Oh I'm sure this is true. It's just funny because it's Slasher.

I really hope this does not end up going through. I personally feel like them going with Azubu is such a better choice than EG.

So if they do sign with EG i wonder if they would stay in Europe(most likely) or go to the EG lair. The funny thing about them maybe going to the EG lair is that i remember something about Snoopeh hitting on Anna Prosser at LSC2 or smth.
NM House in cologne for S3.
I do love my drama.

CLG.eu has a new gaming house in Germany. They're going to participate in EU tournaments in S3.
afaik, EG lair is in the US? Southwest I think.

Ofc i didn't bothering waiting till then to post. >.> Now I feel dumb.
Also some of the comments on the article are pretty depressing, for example "future unemployed" and "I still think "professional gaming" is a wasteful joke." Some of GS's audience really seems to hate the idea of e-sports.

If this ends up happening, then EG has become the Disney of eSports.

Been expecting it to be EG since Fries, so even if this might not be 100% certain, I'm going to go ahead and believe it's true.

Yankees seems more appropriate. afaik, most people don't hold Disney in such disdain. It's strong polarity with both EG and the Yankees. ;o

Except Yankees only describes EG's SC2 approach. EG also has FPS, DotA, fighters, and now potentially LoL. I used to use the Yankees comparison myself but by continuing to expand into other eSports the Yankees comparison doesn't fit as well. Yankees only play one sport.

I'm just sitting her, hopelessly hoping to see an announcement that this was all just a rumor and that the real news is of a new Azubu team; Azubu Earth/Thunder.
(Sorry. I couldn't think of any elements. I will admit Azubu Earth sounds pretty lame )
