Well, it's not a "pre-aprilfools joke" exactly, but I am sort of wondering if we get a follow-through here.

Tbh, I couldn't think of anything other than this being an April Fool's joke even before realizing it's 4/1 in Korea. This can't be real can it? x_X

Actually I would be fine if there was ProMod just balancing the game effectively, but so-called "changes" in this mod are simply rofl; it is just attempt to bring SC2 back to SC1 without balancing the game.

LMAO April Fools! Had me there for five seconds then remembered that it was nearing the end of march.
|
thx for splitting the community
edit: lol thats so stupid. this mod is nothing else then a sc2 with new graphics. why ?
|
the balance just got crazier and crazier ending with
hellions are biological units that pop from barracks

My reaction was:
- "Is it April already?" - check date - "Huh.. it's not.. wtf?" - notice the date on the post and realize TL runs on KST - "hah... nice."
|
Heh nice one. Congrats' !
First thing i noticed: TL.net Bot. Didn't notice the time though. Reading through it i was like "hmmm this is pretty fail :| ". Got to the "Nony interview", to the part about eastern Europeans and the rage was building up, lol. I was telling myself: "well, good riddance... make the site accessible only from US for all i care!".
And then, i got to the comments and everything became clear.
Very nice! 5/5 for an excellent troll :D

Yes, this is what we need. Now I have no doubt in mind that this game will be competitive!
edit:
wtf

lmao, you got me.
I read the website and was quite upset... felt that this would completely split the SC2 pro scene and do nothing but hurt it.
I even submitted a comment demonstrating how unhappy I was with this.
Then I came back and saw on the front page "This must be a joke." Then I realized it's the day before April Fools.
Best April Fools gag I've scene in a while, mad props to Team Liquid.

oh I got trolled hard.
here is what I wrote:
+ Show Spoiler [nerd rage] +This is an awesome idea and I'm impressed by the changes that you guys were able to make, but it seems like your product is just as gimmicky, the only difference is the rollback to broodwar in almost every sense, it's just hypocritical and immature.
One geyser? Does it mine faster than one normal SC2 geyser? What is the reason for this other than "Broodwar was like this, so SC2 must be like this as well"? There is no reason to do this unless you want the trade-off between mining more gas and mining more minerals to be different, or you want anything that requires gas to be a hero unit that you only get one of.
You even tried to emulate SC1's archaic pathing algorithm? why? Although SC2's pathing is bad, (too closely packed, physics based, uses naive algorithms to navigate around other units), it's a great improvement on the original.
The observer change... ...really? I mean, ok, ok, we love brood war, I get it. But if you want cute things like that in SC2, the least you could do is get original, like you did with the xel naga tower change and high-ground change.
You also re-purposed the macromechanics to enforce multi-base play. This is exactly the kind of forced metagame that I thought you were trying to avoid.. This is actually introducing needless complexity into SC2 as well. Why not just put gold minerals at every natural and remove the macro abilities all together? It's the same thing.
All in all, a lot of the changes you made are really cool, like highground advantage, animation changes, autosurround, muta stack, b.net changes, complete disregard for production quality as long as it's balanced and fun, etc etc.
I just think you are being way too hasty with your edits to the core gameplay and new forced metagame. Have you considered that an evolution to a complex and beautiful multi-base metagame in SC2 might take more than a year to develop? Have you considered that you could be wrong about something, just one time in your life?
If you think the state of the SC2 metagame is shitty, I think the correct response is to blame the players, not the game. TheLittleOne has shown us that there is just as much to this game as there was in broodwar, and I feel like your edits are very disrespectful to players like him that are actually good at the game, as opposed to all the SC1 progamers who are behaving like they are 80 years old when they play sc2.
I'm actually very sad that this isn't real.

Interresting. While the TL group have obviously thought this over more than a few times, I can't seem to help being worried. Started my gaming roots with quake3, and I have seen how seperating these kinds of mods can be.
Hopefully the SC2 community will have enough players to support it, instead of slowly dying away because of it - Like quake3. (Not the only reason why it died tho)
Edit: Rofl, this has to be an aprils fools joke - Good one =D
However, i don't doubt that we will see such a mod at some point. The one question is how popular it will become if it does not have a big organization like TL backing it.

didn't believe it for one second - it was a bit too far out there. ^^'
Nicely done anyways. xD

Honestly? How could you try to make such a sweeping revamp to SC2 (at the same time excluding players from "regular" SC2) soooooo early in the beta? You haven't even given blizzard a chance to balance the game. They did it with SC1 and they will do it with SC2 (unless they go way overboard with the "cater to casuals" epidemic that infected WoW, in which case I will happily install this mod). I just feel that this type of response is EX-TREME-E-LY premature!
EDIT: In my defense it's March 31, but if this is an April fools joke then /golfclap

hmmm... zatic@web.de?
Besides the name, the @web.de is a European web extension. Since Europeans were slammed in Nony's "interview" this is probably a joke. Really good one though, I doubt Blizzard will be able to top this.
