GSL Season 3 Ro8 Foreigner Special: Liquid`Jinro By Hot_Bid
T7 Game 1 - Steppes of War P1 + Show Spoiler [Show Recap] +Choya opens with an offensive gas and standard warpgates. Jinro proxies a factory to float-scout Choya's main, and then techs to a 1-Raven PDD timing rush similar to what he did to TT1 on their Steppes game for MLG Dallas. Jinro is on 3 rax 1 starport, making banshees after his raven to harass before he moves out. Choya makes a phoenix which disposes of Jinro's first banshee, but when Jinro moves out with his army and many SCVs, Choya only has stalkers sentries and one immortal. Forcefields split a lot of Jinro's army, but after they run out Choya simply doesn't have the firepower to beat Jinro's remaining units.
T8 Game 2 - Xel'Naga Caverns P2 + Show Spoiler [Show Recap] +Choya makes an offensive gas again, and this time opens with proxy DT tech into expand. Jinro opens fast expand as well, but his turret is slightly late, and he's forced to use several scans to remove the dark templars. This allows Choya to safely expand and build up a large colossus army. Jinro attempts a drop but four stalkers easily defend. Jinro techs to ghosts and vikings, but wisely doesn't engage when Choya pokes at his expansion. Choya retreats and takes his gold just as he maxes out. When Jinro attempts to take his third, Choya attacks. Jinro pulls his MMM back however, and uses his vikings to flank from the open hole in the center of the map. The vikings take out all 5 of the colossus, and Jinro turns a 180 to 200 supply disadvantage into a 140 to 120 supply lead. More importantly, the expensive, hard to replace colossus are dead, and Choya will never again reach the critical mass of 4+ colossus. Jinro takes out Choya's gold and expands to his own. Jinro snipes one of Choya's two fresh colossus, then lands perfect EMPs on all of Choya's sentries. When the armies engage, Choya's stalkers melt without forcefield or colossus support. Choya GG's.
T8 Game 3 - Metalopolis P2 + Show Spoiler [Show Recap] +Both players open fast expand, Jinro producing the standard MMM and viking combination while Choya makes standard Protoss ground units with a few immortals before switching to colossus. Choya adds a few stargates and phoenixes to his army. Jinro takes his non-gold third and attempts a drop but loses the medivac to stalkers. Choya moves out with a massive ground army with 5 colossus, but Jinro has a large number of vikings. However, Choya's phoenixes delay the vikings just enough for the colossus to deal their damage to Jinro's army, and Jinro is forced to retreat. With 3 surviving colossus and most of his ground units remaining, Choya attacks and traps Jinro's army up against the side of Metalopolis, forcing Jinro to tap out.
T5 Game 4 - Delta Quadrant P1 + Show Spoiler [Show Recap] +Choya opens 2-warpgate robotics while Jinro does the same raven build he did in Game 1. Choya attacks up the ramp, walking past the bunkers at Jinro's choke. Choya loses his units but forces Jinro to pull all his SCVs for some time. Choya follows it up with 1-base, 4 warpgates colossus. Jinro harasses with a banshee, netting 4-5 probe kills. Choya hits with ground units and two colossus (no range), but a PDD and bunker at the ramp takes out one colossus before Choya retreats. Jinro takes his back expansion. Choya shows his front expansion but cancels it. Jinro attacks, but Choya has his units in good position, letting his zealots tank damage while his stalkers eliminate all of Jinro's vikings. Choya counterattacks, and traps Jinro's remaining army below his ramp, forcing a GG.
T7 Game 5 - Blistering Sands P1 + Show Spoiler [Show Recap] +Jinro opens 2-rax, while Choya opens DT expand. Jinro uses a hero reaper which suicides to barely see the DT tech, allowing him to get turrets up in time. Jinro then techs to cloaked banshee, and his first one gets a dozen kills before it's driven off. Jinro attacks with PDD, but some nice forcefields from Choya defend it. Ahead in supply, Jinro expands to his gold, while Choya masses colossus. Unfortunately, he forgets the thermal lance upgrade. Both players max out, and move back and forth across the center of the map trying to gain a positional advantage. Jinro lands two huge EMPs on Choya's army, which retreats to regenerate shields. This allows Jinro's vikings to snipe two colossus. Jinro's banshee gets more probe kills and a separate small MM group forces a nexus cancel, so Choya is forced to move in through Jinro's back rocks. The lack of thermal lance proves to be too much as Jinro wins the battle convincingly with marauders and vikings. Choya GG's shortly after.
TLAF-Liquid`Jinro Ro8: The Aftermath You reached the semifinals! Now that you had a few hours to collect yourself, how does it feel?Woo, I feel about the same as after I won except now I can actually say that I feel that way. After I won I had a hard time saying anything :D ! You were up 2-0 but the series went to a fifth game. What was going through your head after Game 4?"**** how did I let this get to Blistering Sands? Gotta focus 100% now." Then nothing. In Game 1, you did a Raven rush similar to what you did vs TT1 in MLG Dallas finals. But Choya stole your gas.Stealing the gas doesn't affect the build very much at all, I was a little worried when I saw the phoenix as I thought this meant he had analyzed how to beat this build. However, he only made one phoenix and he made observers as well, so at that point I knew he would be too low on sentries to defend and felt confident I could win. In Game 2 Choya decided to proxy a Dark Shrine. Did you know it was coming?Yes, in Game 2 I thought DTs might be possible -- I scanned the 2 warp gates and it immediately brought to mind some comments made by Hero about being mindful to have 2 scans at the 7:30 timing. Even after accidentally misclicking one scan I was able to defend, but it was close. Choya's army was very large, but you picked off colossus with vikings and landed an EMP on all his sentries. Did you feel relieved after winning from a disadvantageous position?I was definitely happy, it was a pretty damn hard fought game. In Game 3 both you and Choya did standard fast expansion builds.I should have expoed sooner because of the positions. I wasn't really sure what his composition was aside from the colossus, despite trying to scout him a lot. I ended up fighting in a bad spot, which cost me the game. In Game 4 you were caught by a very good forcefield. Did you know Choya didn't expand the entire game? No, I thought he expo'd. I was told he canceled his nexus afterward though. The force field didn't matter much, if I had known he didn't have an expo I'd have just stayed back. Also, they told me he had no units after his attempted attack in the beginning, while I thought he was on 4+ gate, so I should have attacked immediately In Game 5, your reaper was critical in scouting his Dark Templar tech.Yeah, that's why it was made basically. It's reason for being was to scout. oGsHero told me to do this build when I asked him for advice on Blistering Sands, and while I asked many people for builds this was the one I liked the most. You 2 rax, pressure some see what hes doing, then fac and 3 rax or expo depending on what you see You were very conservative in the late game, what were you thinking when you saw he didn't take a 3rd base and kept building an army? It's very hard to find a good place to engage on Blistering, and I wasn't really sure where I stood in regards to army size as I'm not really used to this situation. I think taking a 3rd is pretty difficult for anyone on this map so I didn't think much of it, I just tried to find a favorable fight while delaying his 3rd as much as possible. You celebrated with a lot of the oGs guys outside your booth. What did they say to you?Congratulations, that they are proud of me, that they were really happy - just what you'd expect basically . I haven't really celebrated any wins until now, but I couldn't contain it this time. ChoyafOu seems like a nice guy.He is really nice. Before the games, he told me I look like his cousin and and that he liked me. His coach translated for him. You play your teammate and friend oGsMC next. Did you check TL before the match to see MC's results? Did he say anything to you before your match?Yeah I was keeping up via the live report . He didn't say anything special, just normal good lucks before the games. Is there going to be any house tension now that you guys have to play each other?Nah, I don't even think I will bother to use anything but my normal account - we all trust each other. It sucks that team kills happen but on the other hand, we have a 100% guaranteed player in the finals. Are you guys going to practice with different teammates?Yeah, I think we'll split things up a bit to avoid having the practice partners be put in difficult situations. Who gets TheStc?Hahaha, maybe we can roshambo it for him. Ret told a story about you sleep talking about how impressive gorilla man was.Well he is pretty impressive... Have you adjusted your goals for this tournament now that you are in the semifinals? Will it be hard trying to beat a teammate?Always one goal at a time, first round of 8, now round of 4. It will be hard but not because it's a teammate, but because he's the scariest Protoss in the world right now. Did MC help you practice for Choya?Yeah, but we only shared two maps so we mostly focused on our own practice. He gave me lots of advice though whenever I needed it. You already secured quite a bit of prize money. Are you thinking about the prize money at all? Does this put more nerves or pressure on you?Money doesn't feel real until paid for the most part, but yes, 9k vs 3k is a big difference - it does add to it. Is there any established tradition at the oGs house when someone gets this far? Do you and MC buy chicken or pizza or something?Pretty sure we will be buying a loooooot of chicken/pizza if we win. But yes, that is basically what happens - winners pay for this stuff =) Did you see the Chinese nicknames for you? "Muscle man" and "Scandinavian Thor".The Chinese nicknames are gosu. I wonder where muscle man comes from, I'm not exactly buff (yet! I have aspirations). Maybe compared to average progamer, I don't know. Your beanie and facial hair are very intimidating.Ah maybe that is why lol We're enjoying these interviews every round. Hopefully we'll get another winners' one in a few days. Any last shoutouts? Thanks to everyone who helped me prepare for this - oGsHero, oGsWant, oGsCarmel, oGsInca, oGsMC, oGsVINES, IMYongHwa, oGsTOP, oGsGon, oGsTheWind, LiquidHuk and LiquidNazgul. Thanks to TLAF and everyone supporting me and especially thanks to the people making those sick gorilla Terran posters ^^
Next: TLAF-Liquid`Jinro in the semifinals!
TLAF-Liquid`Jinro is the last foreigner left in Season 3 of the GSL. Can Jinro be the first non-Korean to ever make a GSL Final? Tune into the Gomtv stream on Friday, Dec 10 10:00am GMT (GMT+00:00) for his semifinal match against his teammate oGsMC.

Jinro, you are the man. I wouldn't want any other foreigner to represent us to the Korean culture.

<3 <3 I never expected Jinro to be the one representing the foreigners

Jinro Hwaiting!~ You can beat MC, we believe in you!
I honestly could not be more stoked for Jinro vs. MC. They are probably my two favorite players at this point--both super solid, with excellent gamesense and really polished play. In a GSL/proscene where all too many T and P players do nothing but all-in, its great to have 2 players from those races who can both macro with the best of them and love the long game. Plus, they just seem like awesome dudes.
Whoever wins that match will IMO be a heavy favorite to take the finals. I don't think Rain is that good, and HongUn looks good but beatable--Jinro vs. MC could well end up being the real final in a way.

"Ret told a story about you sleep talking about how impressive gorilla man was.

I'm pretty sure I bit my entire fingernail off watching game 5.
i want jinro to win so bad. He looks like a such a baller in that booth.

Epic read. Scandinavian Thor.

Gorilla Terran fighting! One of the only players left worth skipping studying for finals for.
ahh man, this is just badass stuff, jinro bringin hope to all foreigners

Game 3's recap got left unfinished (accidentally I assume).

JINRO FIGHTING!! BRING THE FINALS HOME TO US!
Jinro fighting! Best of luck in the round of four, its a win win!
I will be telling my future grandchildren about the rise of Jinro.
Yey Jinro!
I can't imagine how they are going to split up the practise partners in the L`oGs house.
Fighting!!
Remember Guillaume Patry (a.k.a xDsGrrr)? I remember him winning an OSL and at his height, was immensely popular with the koreans, with many fangirls swooning over him. Can Jinro follow in his footsteps?
Congrats Jinro! Good luck against MC
Can Jinro follow in his footsteps?
Jinro definitely seems to be widely respected among Koreans. He's one of the only Terrans who prefers to play macro games in all matchups, his overall play and gamesense are as good as anyone's, and he's a nice, chill dude who has actually made an effort to learn the language and make friends.
In general Koreans seem fairly supportive of foreigners (TLO had a lot of fans too) provided the foreigners are respectful in return. It's only guys like IdrA who BM like crazy and make no effort to learn Korean who they don't like.

great article and jinro gg gl hf

Good job Jinro! I hope to see you make it to the finals.
Love these recaps. I missed the first few games so it's nice to be able to read about them - the very next day no less!
Can't wait for his games against MC.
I'm surprised no one is mentioning Choya's OTHER big error in game 5's final battle. He blinked his stalkers up the ramp, attempting to attack vikings I suppose.. and trapped his own zealots. You can see a large number of zealots charging back and forth behind his stalkers, unable to get in the bio ball's face.
This was huge - a big part of Choya's last two wins were his zealot heavy compositions running into the bio ball. In the previous two games, through forcefields and/or backing Jinro against a wall, his zealots got to wail on the bio. The marauder's dirty secret: charge zealots do quite well against them when they aren't blocked. No such luck in game 5 though, and the bio cleaned up without having to worry about most of Choya's zealots.
On the bright side it got our guy Jinro to the final four! Go go go-rilla!!
THE SCANDINAVIAN THOR. God that's fucking epic GJ Jinro you're a true foreign hero. Now we can stop watching Idra ;]
Ho ho - I definitely like 'Muscle Man' and 'Scandinavian Thor' ^^. There's no shortage of nicknames for Jinro .
Great winner's interview - hoping for 2 more with Jinro this season .
I almost died during the series. Choya's comeback was the nightmare and everything was still up in the air for the entirety of game 5. I was never so relieved to see a player win. Jinro fighting!
Jinro is such an awesome guy, I got to talk to him at MLG and he was really nice, I hope he makes it to the finals, Liquid fighting!
Jinro is tha men. So exited !!
Would be interesting if he in one game throws in a early rush semicheese build just to throw his opponent off since he played 100% straight up so far. On the other hand having that ace up your sleeve must be very comfortable even if you dont use it.
we rooting for ya mr gorilla man!!! gogo!!

Jinro Fighting!
Best of luck in the semis!
Congrats Jinro!! GL against MC
oGs House was such a great idea. Have Fun, Jinro.
I want to echo what everyone else has been saying. We could not ask for someone better to represent the western Starcraft scene.
Good luck to you and to MC! Both awesome guys.
And thank god Hero has such precise, good, helpful tips.
Yes! Woo woo! Chinro fighting! That's so perfect that you might be the first non-k in the finals, but to do it, (dragonballz voice) You have to Go Through Your Best Friend, oGsMC!!! Good luck, have no mercy!
I'm reading through some of the playxp reactions on the semi final matchup.. and thought this was hilarious:
"The probability that Jinro will take it all and indulge in a soju ceremony: 79%"
A little background: there (apparently) is a random number generator embedded into play xp, and people often do random probability posts like the above.
Personally, I think if Jinro DOES win.. he should definitely down a bottle of soju on stage

Congratulations Jinro! Definitely been fun to watch even if it hurts me to see Protoss lose. On the other hand you've been very helpful to my liquibet, guessed all your matches so far. Gl against MC
Heh, Scandinavian Thor. I assume that the Chinese unit name isn't actually Thor then :p
Go Scandinavian Scandinavian Thunder God :D

jinro ftw!
should start psychologically sabotaging MC before the game haha...
"oops, i didn't mean to spill coke all over your keyboard! Guess you can't practice for a couple hours now!"
just kidding, both players fighting!

Man I want you to win the finals that's for sure.. even though some of the people including yourself thinks that oGsMC is much better than you, I know for a fact that you're just being humble and all you want to do is win against this guy to make it to the finals. He maybe the best protoss in the world but definitely I can safely say you're the best terran in the world!
Jinro FIGHTING!

Really happy for jinro, but not happy that he has to go up against MC's PvT. That guy is just scary PvT.
Jinrolling.
Disappointing that you two are being wasted on the semis. Clearly the real Finals match.

oGsHero sounds like a hero

Exams on the day of makes me a sad panda.
Good luck winning I will definitely be cheering even if I can't watch.

He did not win an OSL. His achievement was that he was the only foreigner ever to reach the final four of a korean starleague. Eventually he would early third place in the 2001 Hanbit OSL. No foreigner has ever won a korean starleague but if anyone is to do it, now is the best time to do it...I would think.
FFFFFFF I'm so fucking excited.
I said it before i'll say it again: go jinro make us foreigners proud!
So happy for him, I hope he puts up a good fight on friday and maybe even moves trough, but I guess that would give me an heartattack watching the finals if Jinro makes it there, Ive been so tense when watching the games so far, so a final maybe would be to much for me
Grats to Jinro. I'm curious as to how TheStc keeps up with the current metagame given his service time. Is he still playing tons of games or is he that good?

Grrrr... won the 2000 Hanaro OSL, the very first one. Check out the liquipedia page.
Now, hopefully Jinro will take his place as the first foreigner to win a major Korean SC2 tournament! Jinro fighting!

hard not to root for jinro he seems like a genuinely nice/down to earth person. he's got the toughest match up though, but if he takes it he's got the tourney in the bag. also after hearing both him and MC call thestc a practice gosu I really want to see this guy play.
Impressive performance Jinro!!! The semi-final against MC is going to be awesome (though it would have been better if it was the Final), I'm expecting some great games.
Grats Jinro, for making it into the round of 4. Tough opponent ahead, but keep your cool and you can do it bro!
haha, nice interview. GL. Jinro fighting!
Very happy, Love that jinro has always been pretty humble over his wins. You can tell this one meant a lot to him.
Awww, Jinro, you are such a hero, kind of sucks you and MC couldn't be in opposite semifinals though. Of course we all gonna cheer for you, but if you won't make it, at least MC will, so not completely heartbreaking!
Very nice interview, as always!
Epic!
I will be cheering for your success!
Give MC all you got, show the Koreans that you can stand up to the best Toss in the world!
Jinro is the chosen one... that is all

There are different ways to serve out your mandatory military service. Although the most common is to live on a military base (barracks lol!) for two years (in which case you would not be able to play at all), under certain circumstances, such as physical health, place of residence, or just pure luck, you can be a 상근예비역 or 공익요원 (there are also other ways to serve out your term.. but let's not get into that ). The former means you join the army, but you commute from home, so while all the other poor kids are stuck in the barracks, you get to go home at 6pm (or was it 5?). The latter are the true chosen ones, you get to work in the public sector, (ie for the government). Both mean you have lots of free time once you get back home to play as much SC2 as you want. In fact, thestc is still a very active participant in Gisado's KOTH tournament (I think he was the leader in wins for the month of November actually).. which is how he keeps up to speed.
Actually the true chosen ones are the ones who get out of serving at all! (hate those mofos )
[edit] Forgot the most important part! Go Jinro! Down a bottle of soju if you win!!! That will definitely get you a private sponsorship from Jinro the company!
Great performance Jinro! You had me on the edge of my seat. Keep Fighting!
SO IMPRESSIVE!
You will take the spot in the finals!

In the next round the pressure is on MC, so Jinro can play calm and surprise all of us! Gogog fighting!

Jinro in the round of 4, wooooooooooo! Those matches against choyafou was so damn exciting, had me fist pumping after set 5 ^^
Too bad you got to meet MC in the round of 4, but still, you can do it! JINRO FIGHTING!!!!!!

Yay Jinro! Haha I was so happy for him when he won
Hell yea Jinro! keep Jinrolling in the GSL!
Congrats Jinro!!! Hope you go all the way!!!!
It's really a pleasure to cheer for Jinro since it seems, from the outside at least, he shows some respect to the Koreans. I think learning the language and trying to be considerate, to at least to some degree, should be the least u can expect from someone attempting to work in a foreign country. Especially if your work entails being some type of media persona and thus a public figure to some extent!
Scandinavian Thor fighting! You can go all the way, Jinro!
I'm too excited for Jinro v MC, should turn out t be a fantastic set of games no matter who wins!
congratulation!
GORILLA TERRAN HWAITING!

friday at 5am? sounds perfect, let's do this.

I did doubt but I have seen the light.
Jinro hero fwaiting!

Friday = no work day* = all the time to support Jinro! Com'on! * Edit: No work day for me
Was a really good series, glad choya put up some great games for us to see Jinro's true skill.
not a walkover.
jinro make us proud!!
ok: even prouder~~~~~
Definitely has more out going attitude than TLO or Idra or most of hte foreigners bar Artosis. I thought TLO would have a very open attitude and try to pick up Korean as a third language, as Germans are great with any language, but he didn't =\.
If all foreigners gave as much effort into learning Korean culture as Grrr or even Jinro, they would definitely be very popular with the Korean audience. I heard Artosis knows Korean to some degree at least, but it seems he's the type Koreans like to tease instead of love unconditionally haha (referring to FD and Sls_box's reactions to him, fucking funny to watch).
Congratulations Jinro, you are the man! You so deserve this. Nice interview.
oGsMC vs Liquid`Motherfucking`Jinro will be an epic of magnificent proportions. The only downside is that one player has to lose.
Jinro, you are an absolute beast. Good luck against MC in the next round. Damn it, that should have been the finals, not the semis -- now I'm Natalie Inbruglia.

In all fairness, Jinro studied Korean (through bnet I think) in 2005 or something, and Grrrr played in an era where you didn't need to mass practice to stand a chance. You don't just go to Korea with a proteam and have time and energy to pick up the language. Not easily at least, you'd really have to spend your last hours of free time into taking classes. Interesting point. Would be interesting to really study the workschedule of a programer. I can't believe that incessant training can be more productive than a more moderate approach. In which case everyone should have time to have activities besides sc2. Because, without taking the context of the serious work hours pro gamers put in into account, for me, it would be expected that foreigners should learn korean (let alone, it will make their efforts in korea more productive since they can communicate more effectively).

Fantastic Work Jinro, u got the skills to win it, keep ur chin held high and dont doubt yourself for the sake of modesty, tear this GSL up!!!

Everyone is definitely picking up the simple words that are at the basis of communicating with each other but playing SC2 in Korea is not really comparable to the regular setting of getting a job in a foreign country. They're basically making 80+ hour weeks which leaves you pretty drained to put in actual class time to study the language. They pick up some stuff through gaming and the Koreans in the house but it's not really going make you fluent unless you studied it before you came like Jinro.

The Chinese nicknames are gosu. I wonder where muscle man comes from, I'm not exactly buff (yet! I have aspirations). Maybe compared to average progamer, I don't know.
Can you imagine what would have happend if incontrol made it to the ro64? lol

This is the most epic interview I have ever read on this site. I couldn't help but have a big stupid grin on my face the entire time.
thx for the matches. couldnot watch them but reading them here is almost as good as watching them life. well almost. jinro fighting

Jinro is such a badass. I'm so happy he was the first foreigner to get so deep especially after having trouble qualifying the first two times. He works hard and deserves all the success that comes his way.
SO IMPRESSIVE! SO IMPRESSIVE! SO IMPRESSIVE!
Conratulations Jinro!

Scandinavian Thor ON THE RUN!!
Great recap and interview

Jinro seems like such a great guy, and hes Swedish! :D Would never ask for anyone else to represent europe in the GSL

They wouldn't have time to come up with a nickname, they'd be too busy building a bigger booth.

lol this looks really bad well, the intention was good =]

I just watched this series last night with a bunch of my buddies. It was so tense, we thought he was going to 3 - 0 the series but then when he went to game 5 we were actually all nervous for him lol. When we saw that reaper scout the Twilight Council we all cheered for him! :D
May the force be with you, Jinro!

With "Gorilla man" is Jinro refering to Gorilla terran aka IloveOov or am I missing something?
hah Scandinavian Thor.I like it! Good to hear about Hero giving you some good advice. GL in the next round vs MC!
I saw that post but I'm still wondering if Jinro was refering to Iloveoov or himself XD well only jinro knows
Go Jinro!! Punch a hole through that wall of koreans!
Ok, I'm Chinese and I think I can explain why some Chinese SC2 players call Jinro the Muscle Man.
I don't know how to pronounce the word "Jinro" , but most Chinese read it like "Jean-Row", which sounds pretty similar to the Chinese phrase "筋肉" ,which means "muscle". For this reason China guys like calling Jinro "筋肉男" (the muscle man)and even "魔鬼筋肉男" (the devil muscle man)
BTW, Yi Jianlian, the most famouse Chinese basketball player with the possible exception of Yao, got the same nick name of "devil muscle man" after getting hard training in Milwaukee Bucks.
Jinro, you definitely are one of the classiest progamers out there. Wish you the best, as you make it so easy for people to cheer for you. Great representing out there, gl, and don't ever change

Lol well if they call Yi Jianlian "muscle man", its definitely not because Jinro is considered buff then.

Actually from what I've heard so far they call him the 'swedish thor', not the scandinavian thor.
lmao muscle man and Scandinavian Thor. Muscle Man > Gorilla terran xD
good job jinro. you're gonna have a hell of a match against MC, but you can do it

Everyone there is paid in friendly man warmth and confort. Heroes only need that.
You seems like a great person and play for that part! Congratulations!
I like the way that oGs/Liquid are referring to themselves as the same team.
It's pretty damn awesome, and I feel reallllly privileged to be part of the budding SC2 community to be inspired by all this foreigner action. I don't post here much and most likely am coming off as just another sc2 scrub that's decreasing the signal to noise ratio here on TL, but I want to say a massive thanks and congratulations to Jinro, TeamLiquid and the entire pro sc2 "foreigner" community for being so damn inspiring and awesome.
they really see themselves as almost a single team is funny. this picture impressed me the most:

I'm curious as to how TheStc keeps up with the current metagame given his service time. Is he still playing tons of games or is he that good? (hate those mofos ) [edit] Forgot the most important part! Go Jinro! Down a bottle of soju if you win!!! That will definitely get you a private sponsorship from Jinro the company!
Actually, wouldn't they be the true "unchosen" ones? =) Thanks for the insight, btw.

Jinro, thank you man, foreigner hwaitingg,

Jinro has to become the ultimate fighter in the Semi-finals, like Optimus Prime at the end of Transformers 2. I can't sit still when I'm watching the GSLs and Jinros games, I REALLY want him to win, and I bet all of you want him to win too. I know I'll be sitting in front of my computer screaming with some kickass snacks.
JINRO THE WHOLE WORLD IS CHEERING FOR YOU, IT'S YOUR POWER. BRING FORTH THE TRUE ESSENCE OF THE GORILLA TERRAN!!
FIIIIGHTING!!!!!!!!
GOOD LUCK big man. Be cheering from you

MC is so good. It kinda looks like were getting a PvP final. Hope not tho.. Go Jinro!
Jinro vs Choya was some of the most exciting series i have ever seen, I'm sure semifinals will be even better!
Jinro in the finals would be the best ever.
I want to skip school for this match... GO CHINRO!!
Honestly, when I first saw him going to MLG Dallas finals, while players like SelecT and idrA were killed, I got nervous like "who the f*** is this terran" - not that I'm really into the e-sport anyways - but nowdays Jinro is surely my favorite player. GO JINRO KILL 'EM ALL!
And show the PvT master that you are the T master
Some key things the recap missed:
In game 3 Jinro make 2 micro blunders. First, while running away he left his vikings sitting in the air doing nothing while stalkers picked at them. If his vikings had picked off the collosi then his marauders could have kited the zealots around the map instead of just running. Second, he backed his army into a location where the zealots could get tons of surface area. A ramp would have been better. Maybe he should place buildings to form a choke at the natural on metalopolis.
In game 5 one reason Choya lost the final engagement was he blinked his stalkers to the front and blocked all his zealots from engaging.
GL Jinro. oGsMC will definitely be a tougher opponent than choya
So I hope Jinro has some new things up his sleeves.
TL has to be VERY proud of Jinro ! Jinro FTW!
Grats Jinro!! if there is any Terran or for that matter non-korean I wanted to see in the final 4 it's you! glhf in the final 4 everyone here is happy to see you make it this far (though some (if not most) of us expected it) great job! gl against MC

Who knows English the best out of all the oGs members besides Spunky and the others that speak it fluently.

This is much farther than I expected a foreigner to go
Nothing against Idra, but because it's Jinro it feels more "real" than if Idra had gone.
It's amazing how quickly people forget how much Jinro struggled when he first went to Korea. Not meaning that in a negative way, I'm happy it's a thing of the past. Lots of practice against high level opponents has obviously paid off, but not everyone has the talent to push it even further.
Enjoy your success Jinro, your fans are behind you now more than ever.

so excited for the match on friday! scandinavian thor LOL epic nicknames...
