I'm afraid it will have to wait until tomorrow evening although I do have some recent examples of bio drops in particular killing me. Not letting me access replays because battle.net is down for maintenance so I can't check for definite which ones are relevant.

This was one played on the Test map. The only thing that I could have done to anticipate this was to drop Sensor Towers everywhere.

As a platinum Terran, I have a hard time incorporating drops into my play, mainly because I'm afraid to leave my base "less" guarded while the drop is en route. I guess I'm afraid that the opponent will just take all of his units and come charging into my base which now has less units. What are the justifications to incorporating drops into play when you're essentially leaving yourself more vulnerable?

What are the justifications to incorporating drops into play when you're essentially leaving yourself more vulnerable? Basically it's the old principle: "Offence is the best defence". You're pretty much defending yourself from attacks by attacking, as your opponent will be busy defending his base rather than attacking yours. The tipping point comes when your opponent decides that it's worth more for him to ignore the drops and go all in rather than defending them. At which point you'll just need to have faith that your defenders advantage will be enough to get you through (Either with sieged units, buildings that soak up damage instead if your units, and/or the fact that your production facilities are much closer by). Plus the fact that if he's ignoring the drops completely, your units will wreck havoc on his production facilities, making it harder for him to reinforce. If your opponent is afraid of drops, it will also keep his army close to his home, which leaves you much bigger room to see them coming across the map and prepare accordingly.

You have defensive stuff that can hold off a superior force, so you can detach a segment of your army to attack where they don't have an army and do as much damage as possible. When you do this, you force them to deal with it, which can take their army out of position. Or they can slam into your main force, which should be entrenched enough to handle them. Also, it's generally a good idea to shoot at things that aren't shooting back.

I haven't played since hots but I watch a lot of streams now and apparently they are good. They 50 hp (since hots) and their release interceptor ability was removed last patch I believe They were still useless until last patch except on one map. Now the interceptors cost 5 minerals instead of 25 which is an insane buff.

If the answer to this is "No" then presumably it's for good reason or bad practice does anyone know why?

No. Reason being that it requires a bit extra micro and awareness to know when your units are ready and to group them up with the rest. If it was done automatically you'd be playing Nexus wars (well, not really, but still). It's an extra factor that separates the good players vs the bad. plus not to mention that i would create a bad habit; you don't always want Marines in group 1. What if you're attacking with a bunch of units, and the enemy drops inside your base? You send your newly created units to defend, then you go back to micro your main army, and suddenly your newly created marines are running across the map instead of defending back home, and then you have to unbind your marines before you can use them again, meanwhile you're not microing your main army-and omg everything you own is dead.
