- Removed Nextgame-Button, it lost its function, SC2 Coach now automatically detects your Game-Status
After every SC2 match, you have points to spend in SC2 Coach, which runs parallel to SC2.
Every point for an attribute which didn't work that well in the recent match. So if your scouting was bad last game - spend it on scouting. Overmins? Spend it on overmins aswell. For every attribute you can only spend one point every match. The higher the value of one attribute, the more you need to focus on.
If an attribute goes to 5 or higher, the mainfunction of the Program becomes available. It can remind you from now on (with the value >= 5) constantly with a OSD-font and/or voice. + Show Spoiler +Note:
- It only reminds you if it makes sense to remind, attributes like "Gameknowledge" or "Decisionmaking" doesn't.
They won't show up.
- If Something went well and you have no points to spend on it, it will decrease by 1.
- Your weaknesses and strengths are always up to date.
Day[9]-Mode constant Workerproduction, Overmins, Supplyblocks, the Minimap and ScoutingMechanics-Mode Decisionmaking, Engagement, Knowledge, Overmins, Reaction, Scouting, Supplyblocks, Composition, Upgrades
- Extract the downloaded zip-archive
- Second step:
- If you are new to SC2 Coach you can skip step 2 and move on to step 3.
- If you used SC2 Coach v0.9.4 or higher, move the config.xml-file of your older version into your extracted folder to import your saved attributes & settings.
To prevent issues better delete the folder of your old version.
- If you used SC2 Coach below v0.9.4 it needs a bit more time.
If you want to keep your saved attributes & settings, open the old config.xml from the old folder. Then start the new version of SC2 Coach, it will create a new config.xml. Close SC2 Coach and edit new config.xml manually by rightclick/edit -or rightclick/open with notepad. Import the saved values from your old config.xml to your new config.xml. -->> Do it manually, only change the values, not the names. Save the config.xml(ctrl+s). To prevent issues better delete the folder of your old version.
- To start the program, run SC2 Coach.exe.
NOTE: I'm not a verified developer, so Windows Defender can show up at the first start. If this happens, allow the program to start. To confirm the program is virusfree, feel free to check it, with the antivir of your trust, for example at http://virustotal.com
This program is my very first in C#. I chose this as a project to prepare myself for my soon-starting apprenticeship as IT Specialist of Application Development. Lots of love, time and swet are invested in SC2 Coach.
I really wish this program will help you on the road to improve. If you have any feedback, ideas or requests for this program, feel free to write me at sc2coach@outlook.com Thank you for thinking about using SC2 Coach. Greetings, David
If you tried SC2 Coach it would be a pleasure for me to read comments about your experiences. That helps the program to improve, thanks!

I didn't see the first post. This looks like a good idea, though I don't really see what is the actual effect, and how the system of points affects it. I may give it a try and give you some feedback this week end.
|
This would be nice, thanks AbouSV Please keep in Mind, the remindfunction starts on attribute's value >=5, so maybe you want to change attributes to 5 in the XML, if you directly want to test OSD/voiceremind.

I was trying this program today. The only thing I find good about it is that it takes me automatically out of starcraft after I finish a ladder game, so that I cannot start another game just as I finish the previous one. (a losing streak usually starts when I just play game after game)
A bug I must submit: I played a random opponent, and this program told me the race of my random opponent. In other words, it allows cheating. I suggest you turn off the cast of the races if you can't figure out that it was a random player, as otherwise this program allows cheating.

Well, I'm glad to hear I stopped your losing streak, BUT this Program is supposed to collect your current issues (for this you give the points after the matches, and if a Value goes to 5 (or higher) to remind you ingame. I'm sorry that you don't like that, but that IS what the program is good for. If you don't want to use that function you might don't want to use SC2 Coach

Well, this can't be true. It only reads out lout the Gamestate which is explained here. If a Random Player shows up in a 1v1, he says "Random", not the Race the Randomplayer plays. So it's definitly not cheating. Thanks for testing it out! Greetings and have a nice day, David.

Well, may be terran sounds similar to random, but I heard terran when my opponent was a random player, and eventually turned out that he spawned as a terran. I'll let you know if it happens again, but I suggest you test it as well.
As a software engineer I know how bugs come to life, and as frustrating as it is, testing out what the QA team finds is vital so that there won't be any bugs which make the program unsuitable for use. And there are always bugs, its about how crucial they are.
|
Yes, I agree with that. I'll keep an eye on that. Hey, would you have liked a request at the very first start of the program, if it starts with all attributes from zero, so you need at least 5 games to get reminded from the 6th - and between the option to get started with the value 5 that it'll activate the remindfunction at the first game already? So the waitingtime till the mainfunction comes to play would be minimized and the user hasn't to edit the xml file manually to skip this waitingtime.
Update: I have "played" now about 50 games vs random-ai, It wasn't possible for me to reconstruct that situation, that SC2 Coach tells the race of the random player.

The version has been updated to 0.9.5. I hope you enjoy it, from now on it has a configuration wizard at the first start that brings the option to get reminded from the first match on

Hey David,
This program helps me very well to improve my skills in Starcraft 2. The longer I train with this program, the more safer becomes my Gameplay. It is fun to work with this program, because of all the little successes after every game. Im excited how great the program works and how functional it is.
I wish you all the very Best, Fantasia

Hey Fantasia, Thanks for your support, for the feedback and for using SC2 Coach. I'm really glad SC2 helps you to improve and that you actually see your improvement after using it for only a few days. In combination with gg-tracker to monitor your spendingquotient (Saturationspeed seems broken in LotV on ggtracker) I feel, is a good way to use SC2 Coach. I share similar thoughts of improvements, few days ago my workerproductionvalue at SC2 Coach hit 15 - I focussed especially on that, now it's at zero - I don't get reminded anymore - and it's acutally working without the reminds now. Hope I can keep that, at my current league I can afford to NOT cut the workerproduction versus allins - and in PvT these days at gold, 80-90% terrans seem to allin toss, at least push hard between 3:30 and 5:00 and if it fails, expand after. No clue why they do this, if you chrono out the Warpgateresearch and make the Robo before Twilight it's quite easy to hold I feel. Well, gold is not the world. Back to topic: Thanks for using it Fantasia! Best, David

The version has been updated to 0.9.5.3. Lots of bugfixing happened.

Hi, i downloaded this but for some reason it isn't working when i click on it it nothing happens am i missing something when i downloaded it?

Hi ForBalin1, did you extract the zip-archive and started SC2 Coach.exe? Don't wonder if Windows Defender pops up at this point, this happens because I'm not a verified developer. If you allow the program to start, it will work. To be sure it's virus-free: checked at virustotal.com I hope this answered the question. Thanks for testing the program! Greetings, David

Hi Alon, glad you like it, that's a nice start in the day for me, thanks ! I know this issue, my girlfriend (testing since 0.6.8) reported this once aswell. I'm working on Version 0.9.6 and will release it today. It will be only the SC2 Coach.exe, so you don't have the issue with overwriting the config.xml and losing saved stats or using the wrong xml, etc. Also I will include a Readme, the installationguide in there should prevent issues like this. I hope you'll try it and show patience. Also I hope it'll solve your issue. If this won't solve it, PM me, so we can find the solution via Teamviewer. Greetings, David

- Sessiontime shows the time you spend in the current session inside matches+ Show Spoiler +
- Matchtime counts the time of the current match
- Different handle with the config.xml to prevent issues

Are the alerts in this program 'smart' i.e. does it only warn you regarding supply if you're close to getting supply blocked? Or does it warn you of overmins only when your minerals get too high? How high is too high? ect.

Hi Hungry, No, the alerts are not triggered by a detectionalgorhytm, this would come close to cheating. The Program alerts by a timerhytm you choose in the settings. It's designed to train your brain to get used to remember these points. I hope this answered your question. Have a nice day, David

Version 0.9.6 files updated SC2 Coach now works with the 32-Bit-Version of SC2 aswell. Thanks to Stefan, René & Simon for their great bugreports.

Doesnt blizz ban things like these external programs no matter what they are doing in the game ? My friend told me that sometimes even change of sound can get you ban so im curious.
|
SC2 Coach doesn't touch SC2 files at all, it's an additional program which uses the systemspeech and osd. I don't see why blizzard should forbid this, it's a tool to learn, not to cheat. Also there is no detection algorhytm which could be seen as cheating, it's simple and only uses the given API. Greetings, David
|
Ah thanks thats great He just got me worried about external programs getting banned . You have done pretty good job with this you can set everything you need there so i reminds you until you get it in your head on your own . I think this will help a lot of players .

Thanks. Glad you like it

Reorganized the whole thread.
Should give a better view of
- What SC2 Coach is
- If it can help you
- What it does
- About features, settings, etc.
Also in mind of the length, I included a small navigationbar at the top, so it jumps to the "chapter" of your interrest.

Hi David,
THX for spending a lot of time and creating this nice tool for us noobs! I tried it out and i have some questions:
During the game, SC2Coach reminds me to: 1. Check minerals 2. Check SupplyBlock 3. Scout the front
etc... After the game it shows me my results. But: 1. what must i the game, to "check minerals" for example, so that SC2Coach can recognize that and react by increasing/decreasing the stats of this? Normally, in the game, i just watch on the top right side of the monitor. Should i click on that, or should i go to the camera location of one of my bases, or must i select the minerals? 2. Same question with the SupplyBlock: Did i have to click on something? I dont think so, because SC2Coach evaluates the times i was supply block. 3. How does your program know, if i checked the front or not? Should i click on the minimap at one from the enemy bases? Maybe i'm using it wrong...
|
Hi Grey,
sry for the delay, I've tons to do lately. Glad you like this tool and it helped you a bit (hopefully ).
To your questions: This tool is more simple (atm) than you thought, maybe in future, testwise I could take a step into the direction you thought it would work like (recognizing user's actions) - but it might be greyish and could offer a bit too much help to stay legal. So properbly I let it work the way to does. Means:
This program doesn't detect if you spend your minerals (or not) - You give the points fairly to yourself after every match. If you spend them (or you are dia-gm with your spendingquotient after uploading to ggtracker) - don't give yourself a point. If you had a problem spending the minerals, be honest and give yourself a point.
Same to scouting, the minimap and supplyblock - it doesn't recognize if you hit follow the goals. You decide when you hit your goal (no point after the match) and when you missed it. Only if it (f.E. Scouting) stacks under 5, it will stop reminding you ingame. If I would let the program detect when you are supplyblocked or when you get attacked (minimap dots), etc. and just would use it to "don't remind, cause it works nice this current game" or "remind, cause it's really bad this current game" it could be the one step into "too much detection from a program, it's getting into the Blacklist"-by Blizzard. I don't want to risk it, even it would be a nice challenge for a beginner like me to code that.
Hope this answer wasn't too late. Best, David

Thanks Atm I'm very limited with time, but I'll work on it. I think I gonna make the user choose in the settings-menu whether to use SC2 or BW. If BW is chosen, I will properly make it like version 0.9.2 where the api-support wasn't given and let the user start and end manually by pressing a button when he's searching for a match and when the match finished. It's not clean, but that's the fast way to make it work for BW, better than nothing, right? Further future will tell how it goes on Greetings, David

No, that's not just you, it's been timed out - this happens everytime, when no DL accured for 30 days in a row. If you're still interested - I've updated it, there are a few new options and features now. For example • a clock, you can turn on/off/ or show only during matches • you can manually and seperatly set your reminders on/off • you can use any fonts/colors you wish (if they're installed on your computer) etc.
If you or someone else is interested, PM me AND comment below, so I am able to recognize that and upload the file to Zippyshare. Otherwise the link continues to timeout.

Can Blizzard ban you for cheating when using that?
|
On November 07 2017 12:09 Damien wrote: Can Blizzard ban you for cheating when using that?
Why should Blizzard ban someone who's using a program hat helps you LEARN the game? It doesn't play for you, just reminds you to do stuff, you struggle with. It doesn't interact with the game or reads out the game (exapt the official api, which is totally legal). It doesn't react to your actions ingame, it only does remind you to do. Just like your Mother, sitting next to you repeats reading out loud a list you've given her.
Long story short: I'ld really be surprised if this tool would be illegal. I've not received any feedback about legally-issues.

I really love this program! It's helping me a lot; and it's better than a simple ding sound :D The only thing it's lacking is the reminder to build workers, inject/boost/mule and spread creep

Hi Slimper,
glad you enjoy using my little program - thanks for that! ;D The reminder to build workers should actually be able to set as active, have you found a bug there, where's the exact issue?
the class-specific abilities might actually be a lack, maybe I gonna consider to add them, but there are useful maps to practise exactly this in the arcade section already. Aswell it might be a bit too much to get reminded for the most users, I don't want to flood people who actually liked that tool.
Greetings,
David

Huh, strange, it appeared only after I've changed my general (loop) settings. It was 30;45, I've put it to 10;30, and the worker tab magically appeared. Maybe I just didn't notice lol, but it's probably because of the stages that the app puts you through
The cool thing with adding an inject/creep/mule/chrono reminder is that you can generalize it and anchor with other things in the macro cycle :D And I do practice on specific maps, it's just that my macro cycle is not established yet FeelsBadMan
Thank you for the answer, I'll practice some more and show my results!

Well, this is indeed strange, never happened me before and shouldn't even be able to happen at all logicalwhise ^^' But glad it appeared after your setupchanges.

You mean as an additional option, an additional circle, which isn't affected by the setuptime of the other circle, but affected to the REAL inject/chrono/mule time. Honestly I'm scared to build this feature. With the optimal timed "on-point-remind" it might be seen as "unfair" and be an legally-issue. I really like your idea, but I think it would betoo much help for players who use this feature on ladder.
Thanks for your feedback! GLHF, best!

Thanks for that shot! I see the issue here, the only bug seems to be the default-selected-mode, it shows as "1" in the statusbar, but should show the name. However, your problem is a different one, that the mechanics-mode doesn't offer "workerproduction" - only the day[9]-mode does. I made this decision to offer two modes in a very early version of the tool. The Day[9]-mode was ment to practise the basic mental checklist - the mechanics-mode some additional stuff. In newer versions, you can preset your reminders, so it all changes a bit and the "need" for two different modes isn't needed anymore I feel. - If you don't like to take care about a field, just don't touch it :'D Right now I'm thinking about removing the two modes and make one big, which includes ALL. MAYBE I will add a Chrono/Mule/Inject/Creepspread-Circle, I'm not sure. But if, I would make it an OSD-Feature only - so no voice.
Do you have any Ideas/wishes/etc. for the next version? I will start by the mode-removal and structuring-stuff now.
UPDATE
Feel free to try version 1.0.0 I've removed the two modes and restructured a lot in the code. Your problem should be solved. For ideas/critique/feedback etc. let me know!

Good news everyone!
There will be some nice new stuff in the upcoming 1.0.1 update! Changes to expect:
- Choose exactly what you want to practice - All reminders / nonreminders can be enabled/disabled seperatly.
- Reminders "Creepspread", "Larvainject", "Chronoboost", "Muledrop" added
- "Between-" and "Looptime" support lower values
- SC2Coach will show when a new update is available + show the changelog
I will add the offer to download SC2Coach from an adfree-webhoster to increase userfriendly downloadexperience.
I would love to see a bigger-growing SC2Coach community in future. My goal is to help a lot of new - and even experienced players learn/improve their macro-abilities. In my opinion solid macro is a main-key to be a better player.
Big thank goes to the user and tester Slimper. His great ideas will be implemented in the upcoming version!
I expect to release the new version early January 2018.

The "Update" is released. It is called SC2Reminder
I restructured a ton of code and it's literally a different program now.
A few changes to SC2Coach:
- SC2 Reminder has a visual player introduction,
- A whole new optic
- is way more simple and the whole point-system got removed.
- Click what you want to remind and you get it!
- Never miss a new update - SC2Reminder will show when a new version got released
Enjoy a few other changes aswell !
