Oh man wish my ISP worked with SC2 (turns out they have trouble connecting to limelight networks websites and servers, and I noted that Activision is the major customer for limelight networks...) I would deffo enter 1v1 and 2v2 but unless it gets fixed in time I won't be able to practice.
Also if I were entering I wouldn't make this thread, and only tell glade so he can be my 2v2 parter

No idea, but I imagine hardware, shirts, etc.
The sponsor's logos are too blurry to make out on their website the only one I could make out was waiwai.com.au

i wont be able to play but i hope that is the map pool for only 2v2 and not 1v1. or it could be weird. almost as weird as 3v3 cs

China Airlines Hello Mobile V-Specs auto accessories Mizunya Barcode Connection M Connections
Some of the sponsors have not confirmed what they are giving as prizes merely the the amount of contribution, but my understanding is it will comprise mostly of computer gear and vouchers/products from some of the sponsors.

For just a $350 prize pack + some gear most likely worth $100 (not $400 )?
Also is that the map list for 1v1 as well? (4) Arid Wastes (4) Decena (4) Twilight Fortress (4) Coalition (4) Scorched Haven (4) Lost Temple

|
hey guys
online registration is now available ^_^, pay for your registration fee through our rewards program site http://www.morefun.com.au/ProductSearch.aspx?Cid=55&
Select "delivery" as the payment mode, you dont need to put your real residental address as there is nothing to deliver it is just the only way the website accepts payments online LOL
IMPORTANT- email me confirmation afterwards with the additional details of which event and you are registering for (as we have 2 events going on at the moment
*note if you are paying for a team then purchase the $10 ticket quantity 2 (for Starcraft 2 vs 2) or quantity 3 (for CS 3 vs 3)
In-store Registration is also now up and running, you can register at any of the City Hunter stores as well.
as for spectators/casters im not sure Im pass it on to the Game admin for this event (I look after Shooters, Dave looks after Strategy ^_^)
|
Guys keep me up to date with which event you are going for so I can dodge good players so I can sign up for one with people from TL or CG that I know there. We can have a jolly laugh about how I thought you were less nerdy and how you didn't think I was overweight.
|
Signed up today for the 1v1 and 2v2, surprised there's not more interest, prizes are damn good for sydney

also does any here use Board Aussie? I wanna post there but need to be invited! lol

You should fill up the qualifiers as is anyway.
If TL is anything to go buy people have been craving a Sydney SC2 event for some time, and it's best the majority of your players come from here or CG so they are at least a little competitive (general public vs mOOnGLaDe = no fun for anyone).

hahaha Thanks deL
lol ill keep that last site in mind if we need to fill numbers :D

1v1 map pool should be like...

:D

hmm iuno if im good enough =/ im mid plat any advice?

I signed up for the 1st qualifier today. They seemed a bit unorganised - I asked what time I had to be there by and I had to wait like 10-20 minutes to get an answer, "before 10" - but it seems pretty good and friendly.
If I had known the second and third qualifiers had less sign ups I'd have gone for them
Anyone wanna team up for 2s? I'm not too bad and there's plenty of time to practice

i don't agree with the maps used. well majority of them. decena? is that incineration zone or monlyth ridge? i remember they renamed both of them and one of them was formerly known as decena.

pretty sure the maps listed are for 2 vs 2? theres meant to be a different map set for 1 vs 1 I asked the Game admin for this event for the updated list a couple days ago he said he would have it for me today but his been out of the office all day, think he is testing out the PCs or something
Oh also with the qualifiers it isnt 2 rounds of single elimination but now a round robin comp, 32 contestants in 8 groups (4 contestants each) they play a bo1 match against each other person who tops the pool goes to finals, a fairer system then a 1 strike your out that was previously in place.

Main thing that sucks about winning is all that store credit. There better be some really hot shit I can get with store credit or I'ma just sell it to some dude for some moar moneys.
This is of course assuming I actually win. I dunno. might happen. Thumbs crossed for blizzard NOT patching the game before tomrrow and making the game fair for all them zergs.

Result for 1v1 tourney:
3rd was Kommunist, (T) 2nd was myself (T) 1st was Glade (Z, best Z in SEA, oh my fucking god. I kill like every ladder zerg ezpz then I get my dick ripped off and raped to death by Moonglade. Pretty cool guy)
2v2 and CSS to be concluded later.
Also, is it ok if Schiznak and ImSkepical receive my prize in my stead tomorrow? I won't be able to make it on account of family shit going down that day. Thanks.

Hi everyone, Here's a basic overview of how the finals went down: with 4 Groups of 5 (and a couple of holes here and there) we saw many exciting games go down, from professional cheeses, to drawn out macro-fests, there was variety and excitement across the board. The stand out player was GlaDe (a.k.a MoonGlade), a member of Team Immunity who placed 4th in the SEA Blizzard invitational, who flew down from QLD to show us that a race currently undertuned could still take us all to school. He played a solid Zerg strat utilizing a lot of mutas and lings, that ensured victory after victory, not losing a single match in the whole 1v1 tournament. A good sport, and a nice guy, no one can say he didn't deserve first place. Arguably the best player in Australia at the moment, and with Zerg at that. That's not to say the other players weren't excellent performers. Iaguz, who lost to GlaDe for 1st place, ensured he had to earn it, with a strong Terran play, utilizing a lot of creativity in drops, and taking advantage of Lost temple's terrain, however GlaDe's excellent creeping, and map control, meant that any strong push by Iaguz was drowned in a swarm of zerg. GlaDe sealed the deal in the 3rd match on Steppes of War, utilizing Iaguz's strat against him with Overlord drops. Iaguz strong defensive capabilities helped him survive well into each match, but he couldn't stem the overwhelming flood of zerg. Iaguz took it in stride though, gracious in defeat. He's a great sport who has already helped my TvT from sucking so much ass. Sanchez (4th) and Kommunist (3rd) were the other two finalists, both players with a lot of potential, but not quite the polish that gave Iaguz and Glade their deserved victories. Expect a difficult game if you ever encounter these guys on the ladder. All round the 1v1 tournament was a truly enjoyable experience. For me the most enjoyable part was seeing the meta-game manifest. The problem with the Ladder is that your up against a random opponent everytime. Being able to see and hear about people's play styles before entering a game allowed for a lot more outside-the-game thinking, particular in the finals wherein it was best of 3, and best of 5, so the games had a lot more personality and flavour then you would see in ladder games. Even being able to recognize names that you had been playing over the past 2-3 weeks was quite something, putting a face to a previously ambigous internet opponent. Same for the 2v2 tourny, which I couldn't stay to watch the finals for, but that was great fun for the same reasons. Stand-out game was to see PiG and his brother (who I can't remember the name of. Sorry I'm terrible with names) top their group with a win against Glade's. Fantastic utility of inf drops into enemies bases, taking out their economies, whilst putting just enough of a defense together to resist Glade's Tank/inf army from stealing the win in what could of easily turned into a base race. Again, scoping out the other teams in your group and trying to get an idea of their strats etc added another enjoyable aspect to the game, and actually helped people win games. It's enjoyable to partake in the meta-game, something we usually only get to watch in the upper tiers, and something tournament play will always have that over ladder play. If anyone can share how the 2v2 finals went down I'd love to hear it. Best of all though was seeing Australian SC2 community come together, from across different states enjoying a truly fantastic game. Kudos to Cityhunter and the tourny organizer, chris, for putting it all together. We all eagerly await future competitions, and will no doubt be helping each other sharpen our games in preparation. Anyone else there please share what you most enjoyed about the experience. P.S Player of the comp: Anh. By far the most entertaining player to watch, shoutcasting as he played. Next tournament that guy needs to be employed as a commentator. Stand out strat was massing High Templar, with everyone watching but him seeing that he hadn't tech'd storm.
