Make or break for EGTL
Unfortunetly those arent optimal matchups at all
TaeJa > free JYP > ZerO HerO < sOs (sHy) Jaedong < Flying PuMa < Light Stephano < Soulkey
Woongjin takes it 4-2, EGTL will drop further
I saw your post in the other thread asking if someone would put it up a few hours ago and I wanted to make you wait it out
Wow so personal. LR is srs business.
haha I wasn't serious. I have a big lab project due tomorrow and I wasn't sure what time I would be finished so I didn't want to make the thread until I knew I'd be around for the games
Taeja and Zero are sure wins, if PUMA beats light, EG-TL will win this match. Light still isn't good. I always think PUMA will come around, and get his lucky turn. He's a good player.
EGTL are in big trouble here. They're playing the no contest best team in Proleague, Hero and Stephano have two mirror matches, their achilles heels, Stephano is paired against the guy that 4-0'd Life in GSL.
Their only hope really is that nothing in Proleague ever makes sense. I mean last round they beat Woongjin out of nowhere, so...
You're all wrong. Very wrong. Yes, it's the first-place team vs the last place team. Yes, the matchups could have worked out better. Yes, doom & gloom is popular on forums.
But EG-TL is going to win this match, mark my words.
EG-TL has been oddly successful vs. Woongjin before (unlike CJ, who routinely owns them for no apparent reason) - and despite being the last place team, they're still not doing as badly as you'd think. A few won games and they're darn near 50-50. More importantly - THEY"RE NOT PLAYING AT THE OGN STUDIO. Excepting Stephano, who does not get intimidated, EG-TL is severely disadvantaged at the OGN studio. They just mentally fall apart. Not a lot of heart on the team. But they do have a lot of skill. And they're not playing in the OGN studio. They're playing when they have something to prove. And they're playing a team they do oddly well against.
This has all the hallmarks of an upset & a reason for EG-TL fans to hope again (until they play in the OGN studio next week and get unceremoniously destroyed by whatever team they're facing).
P.S. Anyone have the link to the Korean stream. NaverTV or something like that?

28:00 free is able to kill off TaeJa's mostly marine army the medivacs of TaeJa are all killed free is 50 supply ahead
29:00 free gets a 3rd colossus out TaeJa trying to rebuild his medivac count TaeJa floating out his main OC to take another base free is ahead by 68 supply
30:00 another nexus started for free at the bottom right location free moving towards the 4th of TaeJa TaeJa moves behind his PF
31:00 free groups up his army 80 supply ahead engagement at the PF of TaeJa storm on the mineral line and marines 1 colossus falls the PF is killed zealots and colossi clean up the army of TaeJa TaeJa ggs! free wins game 1 for Woongjin Stars!
I feel Taeja's macro/multi-tasking broke down in the mid-point of that game and that's why he lost? Around that time he made those extra CC's and then lost them to zealots (I think he was able to lift most of them in time, but didn't).

Because he was in a full army engagement with free. In TvP, you absolutely cannot afford to miss one beat or your army disappears - you have to emp/snipe the templar, you have to avoid getting the ghosts sniped by colossi, you have to focus the colossi with vikings, you have to stim and stutter step bio. Kill the enemy's army and look away for a moment to deal with the zealots at home? You have 4 templar obliterating 70% of Taeja's army.

Taeja was really trying to lose there... lost 3 or 4 OC to zealots, really? just pay attention and LIFT!!!!!!!!!! Another thing is that he needed to fall back after kill the 4th, He was just over agressive and lost all the army. Oh I almost forgot.. When there are too many storms, the best thing to do is don't move. If you move for one second, no dps at all. Don't move will give you some dps output.

Maybe because I've actually played BW and I know the amount of skill required to play at the highest level? Also, I don't even need to speak -- the results are starting to prove my claim. Look at GSL Ro8, Look at Code A, look at the constant string of losses EG-TL is facing in pro league. Also, your percentage is invalid. Try again, sonny!

Great game, it was very close. Taeja had the upper hand at points but not dodging storms in the big engagement and not rebuilding his economy after zealot runbys ultimately cost him the game.
Everyone's saying it's his wrists but they showed Taeja at 534 apm at one point, so I dunno.

The point being that I was referring to him literally losing in one engagement, not that he literally did a term of art in SC2. Like I said, vocally intonation would have made that clear, we're not kids here, we know that modifiers don't necessarily have to sit directly next to the modified, it just ended up unclear because I wasn't thinking of how it would be framed solely as text.

Once the storm has been cast, damage is done. Units don't move fast enough to get out, and stimming them is worse because the HP hit offsets the time gained and your units end up dying faster anyways. No way to deal with a storm after it's been cast - there's a reason why you never hear casters say "OMG BEAUTIFUL ESCAPE FROM THE STORM," only "BEAUTIFUL STORM DODGE" which means they avoided getting hit by it in the first place.

I think it's just an oddity. I don't really care if they win or lose. They clearly are not performing well proleague at this point and have been getting outplayed in each of their losses. It could just be the order of opponents. If that's true we'll probably see it level out by the end of the season

Yeah. But let's not be desperate. Aside from WJS, all teams had their up and downs. Even the terrible Samsung Khan players can still win some game as long as they can get RorO to win the ace match. All it takes is 3 players including the ace.

Constantly amazed at the technical problems these broadcasts have. I've never had a problem playing SC2. Yes you've got added complications (different keyboards, mice) and higher stakes (players will pause for smaller reasons - their career could be at stake), but even then, the frequency of these failures is too high (yes GSL too). You'd think having a dedicated staff and money for good setups would offset these other factors.

Good setups won't stop certain things not working.
Also a lot of players aren't that great with computers and probably don't realize why x isn't working or something.
In short no matter how good of a computer you have there would still be these issues where they are putting in many different keyboards a day.

Flying has a below 50% record and PvT and recently won against Flash. Sometimes stats don't mean everything, besides that, calling a player on that level bad is beyond dumb. Every player there is perfectly capable of winning.

I don't think this build is 'new' as much as that it is based around the current ZvP meta. We used to see a lot more of +1 zealot pressure from P and I think this build would have trouble against that. But the current meta is sentry/immortal or stargate which this build counters.
Sigh, egtl pretty much sucks comparatively, and considering their weaker practice regimen, it will only get worse =_=... makes me wonder if they'll even be included next season.

I give it about a 50 percent chance. Hero vs Shy is a coin flip. Jaedong isn't that great at PvZ, but Flying is worse at PvZ to the point that they try to match him with only Protosses and Terrans.

EG-TL is getting a lot of exposure by doing Proleague, Proleague is getting a lot of exposure by having EG-TL. I can't see why they wouldn't be included next season
Kespa players always seem to be one step ahead of eg-tl. Zero perfectly knew JYP would do the phoenix->sentry/immortal and smashed it (with a little help from ST.Life). Meanwhile, last match Bong did the same build vs revival, and revival had no clue what to do.

I do find some of the coaching calls strange, but idk I don't think it is from a lack of practice.

All right... all right... but apart from better sanitation and medicine and education and irrigation and public health and roads and a freshwater system and baths and public order... what have the Romans done for us?
Well ok, it does mean that. But in common use, as your link points out, it's a synonym of 'annihilate', and anyone that points out the 1/10 figure is just being pedantic.

More likely you are the only person not paying 5 dollars for almost a year content in HQ and vods . Seriously best 5 bucks ever spent. But Crysis 3 ads doesn't sound too bad either.
No there are at least 2 out there. The ad spam fires like a belt-fed machine gun, they just loop the same ad back-to-back for eternity.
I refuse to pay on principle because a) the koreans get it for free and we have to pay $5 for I'm sorry a terribly amateur English production and b) every time I watch EGTL play I get so disgusted I swear it's the last time I'll watch Proleague. And yet I always crawl back to see the new ways they're gonna fail...
PS speaking of amateur how is it GSL puts 5 mins between players while Proleague has more downtime than actual content?

Korean get it for free since they are on Korean TV and internet, so they have Korean centric adds to make their revenu. It's extremely hard to get adds that target citizens around the world, but that's what Twitch does.

If they are showing korean commercials on TV this whole time, they must be swimming in money
These long waits are horrible. Almost 2 hours and only 2 games have gone by. Normally this is okay, but there's no filler material whatsoever. And the banter between SNM and Whiplash is pretty dull. I guess it's a tough job for them to talk for hours though...

I think you need to spot that they are going for hydra early and then dump your gas into robo support and colo instead of stargate/sentries. Colo with gateway support should do well vs this comp.
Very easy to just assume roaches and proceed as normal. GOTTA SCOUT FOLKS!
It was interesting to see a fluid style from the zerg!

BW games are averagely longer than SC2 games. Still this break is too long, even in OGN standard.

You know, I bet EGTL would have won more if they had all-kill going. Stephano could have put them far ahead in the last series and I feel like one of these guys like Hero could have carried.

Imo, @EGtrotRC should stop putting out Puma (who had the worst record in Proleague until now; he won his last game so I think he's 1-8?) and Thorzain or probably Zenio or anyone else in the lineup should/ought to be played, instead.
Edit: Also, Revival could be in there. Considering JYP's loss today, maybe put Revival in in his place. Or in JD's place.

I watched one game and JD lost to Bisu.

Can't field Zenio/Revival because you have to at least field one player of each race.

EG-TL's performance the last two series has been really disappointing. They have some good players but they appear to be getting ran over recently by the KeSPA teams. I have to wonder how much of this has to do with player/map/strategy choices and with differences in team training. Regardless, I hope this loss doesn't crush EG-TL's morale.
I hope they get another chance in HOTS they just have their eyes off the ball because of the dumb beta which shouldn't even be played hardcore anyway IMHO yet they are doing it. I mean HotS beta tournaments exist? Just jumping the shark a little. Loads of these Koreans playing WoL mostly still. In hots we will have a momentary advantage at least, watch EGTL improve then.

The KeSPA players are no longer no-name players. They've started qualifying to Code A already, and even though there aren't all that many in Code A, they're showing that they are top level now. My logic: Soulkey, Roro, and Innovation are in GSL Code S RO8. And the other Proleague players beat them routinely. So I think all the KeSPA team aces are pretty up there in skill level and can take games off the best of them.
That being said, I really have disagreed with a lot of the coaching decisions for this season of Proleague. I think Hwanni had a really good coaching record in GSTL. I don't remember which team he came from (FXO?), but he didn't have as many stars as the other teams but they did really well. If it was FXO, they actually took two GSTL titles, or something. But the coach that EG hired was @EGtrotRC. Hwanni was brought on not for coaching, specifically.

I agree.
Something is really wrong with the management.
Having no name doesn't mean a thing. First of all I'd argue that KeSPa's training is more strict and that shows because time is used more efficient, secondly as mentioned before, you have to start somewhere. If you judge someone by not having a name yet, you might as well write off 80% of the Starcraft 2 players as plain bad. Rain had no name, had a good run, became a good player, now everyone knows him.
Taeja had no name to him from the start. Also, if you are from Broodwar, even though Starcraft 2 is a new game, there are people that have a name, it doesn't matter if you acknowledge them in Starcraft 2 yet. Here was a guy calling Flying bad, but Flying is learning quick, looked good in PL, recently beat Flash and today beat Jaedong, who is a very big name out there, even though not showing in Starcraft 2 yet.
People need to stop judging by 1 series, forgetting all history or stop judging at all. How good of a player someone is shows over time and a name doesn't make a good player, good play makes a good player.

In addition to your statement about the KeSPa players in Code S Ro8, they all finished first in their group.
It's sad to see the once immortal Jaedong losing like that, but the romance with TaekBangLeeSsang has to stop. Jaedong, Bisu and Stork were close to nothing towards the end of BW (especially after 2010 where Jaedong and Stork both got beaten up bad by Flash / Fantasy).
I serious question whether those Kespa / BW / Elephant fanboys all switched to SC2 immediately after its release. True loyal BW followers knew that Fantasy > Flash, Jangbi > BIsu, Soulkey / Zero > Jaedong towards the end of BW.
When fans don't see TaekBangLeeSsang dominating in SC2 they instead vent their anger on the game itself with shit like "SC2 is too easy to show their potential!". To be honest I find Soulkey, Fantasy, and Jangbi doing better than TaekBangLeeSsang in SC2 makes more sense than the latter dominating in it.

I think managers can't do much, they can't do the same things KeSPA team coaches do.
I remember couple years ago, some rookie in STX lost the showmatch against Lx from China, coach kim shouted out to him like crazy in public with many audiences watching. That was brutal, like in military. I doubt EG-TL coaches can even ask players to focus on certain maps. They have no power over players, so players can just do whatever they want. It's relaxing, and players are happy because of no pressure.

Well, MLG and IEM WC will be HoTS.
Currently for WoL, we have IPL, GSL and PL left but next season for GSL and next round for PL. So I think it might not be a bad time to start switching.
Weren't EG-TL the favourite to win it all according to TL's pro league preview? It's ok, I'm sure they'll win pro league team of the year in TL's year end awards.
Will EG-TL ever hit their stride? it pains me to see some of the best players ever to play SC2 fail to show their real skill. I hope they can be the come back kid's of proleague and make it to playoffs at the end and take it.

I'm not sure they would even consider it personally. The whole notion of locking down their players in a weekly schedule league in Korea for half a year or longer seems inconsistent with how these organizations operate and what they need their players to do.
They probably gave it a go this season because they thought they still had the edge on most other teams' lineups and it generated some hype initially.
I think the original 7 Proleague teams seem to take preparation for Proleague much more seriously than EG-TL seems to. From what I have read, the 7 originals prioritize Proleague above everything else, even GSL and individual tournaments.
If, say, Taeja and Stephano focus on other tourneys too, of course EG-TL won't do as well.

All of that is debatable. Fantasy beat Flash in ONE Bo5 while they both did very well in Proleague. Jangbi won two OSLs, but was pretty mediocre in Proleague, which is the only place that Bisu has been good for years. Jaedong was showing a lot of weakness and looking worse than Zero, but it's not like Soulkey was putting up incredible results either.
Also, no idea why you're saying that Fantasy is doing better than Flash in Starcraft 2. Flash has already advanced in code A (against a very tough opponent) while Fantasy has yet to do so, and Fantasy has lost 7 straight games in Proleague now.

Most of their good players are Korean, they have to play in some kind of team league.

The kespa players are surpassing them, it's pretty straightforward.
I think they should replace trOt with a new head coach for round 4. He has clearly failed with this team and as hots will be played in round 4 it's a good time to start over. Why is he not picking stephano to play at least to avoid embarrassing looses like tonight?

wow, 4-0'd? I didn't expect that result. Was hoping that at least Jaedong won his game >< EG-TL is definitely not performing up to par but I do have to wonder if its due to their (non-existant?) training regimen. As mentioned, the other teams take proleague seriously above all other leagues but I get the feeling that EG-TL players aren't. That or they already reached their limit and the KeSPA players have already caught up to them and surpassing them which is quite possible. I guess the only confusing part is how Jaedong still can't seem to play ZvP correctly. I didn't see the game but from the comments, it seems he made corrupters and never morphed them into BLs then lost them all to archons? :O

yeah always blame the coach. cause like always the beloved players can't do anything wrong.
it's not the coach faults if people don't fucking perform like they should be.
The EGTL-Roster isn`t stacked with mass great players at all. When they play in PL i only got a good feeling when Taeja, Hero, Stephano and maybe Revival are playing. Players like Huk, Thorzain, Puma, JYP and Zenio always seem like an automatic loss even if their match record doesn`t say so.
With that said, Taeja and Hero haven`t been on their top level for weeks....
I don't really care about EG-TL as a team, but it's immensely disappointing seeing Jaedong continue to be sub-par. He unquestionably has the work ethic, and most definitely has the mechanics to succeed...so why isn't he? Why is he so much better in ZvZ (2x the winrate) than ZvT or ZvP? I can't wrap my head around the x-factors that are holding him back overall and in certain matchups.
I feel like EGTL is falling behind in proleague because they just don't have enough people to practice with in Korea... I feel like if everyone from EG and TL were in Korea they would be doing much better than they are. Then again I could just be a sad fan who is grasping at straws

cause mechanics win you ZvZs. in ZvT and ZvP not so much. and he was always known for being a good mechanic player and not the little genius. (ofc smart player but still.)

Coaches do play a big factor. FXO didn't win 2 GSTL based upon their roster strength alone.
As for whether EGTL should continue with Proleague, I would say no. The lackluster English stream, and the fact that they are being owned, would mean that they aren't drawing many viewers. I watched it a bit to start, but I am already feeling disinterested.

I can tell you that easily.
ZvZ you can be aggressive you don't have to turtle to consistently win. Zerg verse Terran you can't be as aggressive and eventually you do have to turtle and try to get that deathball, zvp is just worse for it as you almost have to go turtle mode as really the only ways you can be aggressive verse toss in wol is to pretty much hope toss messes up forcefields.
I have said it before and I will say it again, I would judge Jaedong based on how he does in hots within the next few months after release. WoL does NOT fit his play style at all. He is not the type of player to sit back, make a ton of spines and try to get a deathball.
Hots zerg is very different from wol zerg (you can be aggressive, you don't have to go broodlords anymore) and this is when imo jaedong will shine.
I'd rather see players do well in individual leagues than teamleagues, Taeja is already in ro8 and Hero in Code A Round 3 so i just hope these players focus more on their individual leagues.

I'm honestly not sure Proleague teams are as big as they once used to be in the number of trainees they have off the A team roster. It would be nice to have some information on this though. They used to have quite large B teams and a whole bunch of non-contracted practice partners in BW.

The all star EGTL lineup has definitely outdone the expectations with a combined 1 set win this week. 1-8 with only stephano winning a game? I was never an EGTL fan and did not consider them as playoff spot contenders, but I did expect them to at least put up a fight in every match. Right now they are just getting crushed, and while they did face top teams this week, they have to aim higher than 1-4 and 0-4 with this lineup. Its a shame

Why do people always blame JYP? He has a 10-10 record in proleague and he was not expected as an ace player. No player got more than 10 wins for EGTL (Hero got 10 as well). IMHO JYP and Stephano are the only players on EGTL who perform as expected.
The problem is that Hero, Taeja and Jaedong don't have a winning record (and thus better record than JYP). Hero is 10-11, Taeja 6-6 and Jaedong 7-10. Especially Jaedong has been massively overrated ever since he played WoL (joining EG certainly helped). He never has been a WoL star, neither in GSL nor in proleague. And btw Revival started well, but lost everything since then and his overall record is 4-8.

Maybe this is their real skill.
Proleague is a whole different ball game than the rest of SC2, even GSTL isn't entirely comparable. Proleague is where the money comes from for the Kespa teams, all of their focus is being able to snipe all the key players to win a match. With a line up as thin as EG-TL's it's incredibly easy for other teams to do. EG-TL players apparently still aren't used to the sniper style practice. Most of them, for the last 3 years, have practiced with the mentality to be solid and well rounded players in order to make it to the finals of a marathon style tournament rather than meta-gaming and sniping certain pros to take a key game here and there during a clan war. I don't think in the last 4 matches with Stephano, he hasn't gone up against anything other than Zerg.
At an MLG or a Dreamhack, if players like Stephano, Hero, or Taeja didn't make it out of group stages or didn't make it to the final day of play, it's a disappointment. They've all won several tournaments and all have crushed team leagues at one point or another.
This is all speculation of course, I don't really know what goes on in their team house. For me, it's sad to see fan favorites fail to pull through.

The kespa players are surpassing them, it's pretty straightforward.
it's not the skill it's the way the players are being brought out( order of the line-up)
This excuse can work as long as there are still possible permutations of EG-TL players lineup to be used.
Let's say they have 8 players to play. Number of possible permutations for 6 players lineups are 8!/2!=20160, then multiply the possible ace players, the total number of possible lineups are 20160*8=161280. That's about 3840 seasons.
Looking forward to see what other excuse you will find after 3840 years.

As always, it's easy to jump to conclusions. If they're "the players are bad" then, well. Whatever. Think that way I guess. They're performing very poorly in PL but I wouldn't say it's a lack of skill, especially with Stephano, HerO and Taeja.

ofc it is possible, EG-TL won 7 out of 19. If they win 2 straight games, they are possibly in playoff spot.

I can't wrap my head around the x-factors that are holding him back overall and in certain matchups.
I agree, JD was always very meticulous and aggressive in his play. I guess there is still hope then.
Its all about preparation. EG-TL come out playing these games like its just another game on the ladder. Also remember that EG and TL are two different teams and thus probably have a hard time finding that unity and team spirit other teams possess
This is so humiliating. They really need to figure out what is wrong with their practice schedule and fix it now. Its so disappointing to see the top 2 foreign teams just get crushed constantly.
Are the EG-TL players so focused on HotS or the GSL that they can't prepare for SPL adequately? I refuse to believe they are this bad. But if that's the case, I wonder why they joined SPL in the first place...

Stephano is strong in ZvP but weak in ZvZ; Jaedong is strong in ZvZ but weak in ZvP. So why does Stephano play ZvZ two games in a row and does Jaedong play ZvP two games in a row? I know it's partly luck, but coaches have to be good at predicting these sort of things to get their players the most favorable match-ups.

I understand that it is technically possible for them to be performing worse, but how significant would that be? With a 26.7% set winrate over the last 6 matches they played (this already goes back to over a month ago), how much worse can a group of progammers under the same roof get, where it still matters. the whole point is that they are not capable of winning 2 straight games with the rest of the teams not winning any, as it currently stands. you are not going to be beating pl teams if your set winnrate is under 30%

Honestly, luck plays a big role here. Stephano was on Neo Planet S which is a P map. You could say that the WJS coach mind gamed the EGTL coach and knew they would put Stephano there and countered with Soulkey. But what about JD's match. Did the coach really want Flying who is 0-3 vZ to play JD, free would have been a much better choice if the coach 'guessed' they would play JD there on Antiga.
If anything, I think WJS was trying to snipe Stephano with ZerO since Stephano had played on Akilon flats the 2 previous matches.

Stephano and Jaedong's bromance is probably the reason. Jaedong can't focus, and the other Koreans are probably jealous of Stephano, so they decided to tank the team.

Because at the end of the day, you have to win 3 out of the first 6 matches or you lose. Sure, 4-1 looks better than 4-0 on paper, but a lost is a lost (unless it comes down to tiebreakers which is less likely in a season this long). Remember that WJS also had their best player (Soulkey) in the 6th game.
I wonder if EG-TL's performance can be due to the language barrier in the team. Mass-gaming is one thing but experimenting with a build and getting feedback afterwards is a whole other thing requiring a lot of communication.
But honestly given woongjin's lineup today, the results are not surprising. The only set that seemed like EG-TL might have hada shot was taeja vs free.
Maybe EGTL still have the syndrome that they think they're the Stronger team than most. When that happens, and your opponents are close to your level, if you start calculating too much and playing 'to win safely' rather than taking the gloves off and having a fistfight, you don't play your best game! Who's afraid of losing can't win.
Fuckit can't hurt to speculate and give some selfhelp advice.

Kespa teams are not getting enough credit to how fast they are improving in SC2. They obviously didn't listen to the hype about EG-TL and just practiced their asses of instead.
My respect for Kespa teams are growing exponentially.
Too bad they don't play in GSTL. Would love to see them vs the established SC2 ESF teams. I think the elephant would stomp them.

Soulkey is actually their fourth best player by results.
There best player is Stephano, and he can carry them in all-kill rounds. Taeja is also very good, and JYP has been consistent. Everyone else hasn't been playing well. They'll do okay again in round 5 when the all-kill format returns. Stephano will be in proleague top shape by then.
EZ-TL is right where they should be. People tend to overrate the talent on their team, but to tell the truth, only taeja and jd are possibly high calibre players, who are of course not in their best shape right now. They are simply not as good as the other korean players, whether they are kespa or ESF. Of course, having only 2 good players on a team does not bode so well for in-house practice.
Nothing wrong with the coach, don't blame him. JD should get out of this team if he wants to show results.

Problem with Stephano is that he is still fairly easy to snipe using ZvZ. Also, Rounds four and onward are HoTS so we will likely see a slight reshuffle in terms of player levels. Some players might adjust faster, some slower. Balance and maps might as be tilted towards a specific race/play style.

Stop the doom and gloom and be a bit supportive of your guys! To the players/coaches (who if they are the least bit sensible probably won't read this sorry excuse for a thread): Keep on fighting, train harder and suddenly things will start going your way!
dont kid yourself, stephano is above average in ZvT and ZvP but far from remarkable, he would get steamrolled by people like parting and bogus, but could stand a 50%+ chance of winning against regular A teamers.

While that may be your personal idea of the top six players, from best to worst, the coaches still need to take into account the maps and possible match-ups each player will be playing. It would be un-wise to blindly throw a player out third just because he might be third best in the top line-up. Experience and sniping other players are important things to take into account.

The streaming thing strikes me as a potential issue. If their practice time goes towards streaming then it's a waste of practice time imo - either they aren't practicing particular strategies and not using the time productively, or they are and as a result are providing their opponents with an opportunity to watch and see what might be thrown at them. I get that streaming is a big source of income, and good for exposing people to sponsors/players, but there's a reason why EGTL is the only Proleague team where anyone streams.

In fact, I don't see your point at all, and I doubt anyone else does either. Kespa teams have done all sorts of silly stuff in the past. They have had female beauty pageants (with only males participating) and played soccer games versus other Kespa teams.
The problem isn't filming videos. The problem is that Kespa players are REALLY fucking good and very underrated. If you wiped the GSL to a clean slate for one season (Code A/S wiped), you would have over 70% of Code S being Kespa by the end of the third season easily.

Your second point is just wrong, there have been plenty of opportunities for more Kespa players to get into Code S and all 7 of them failed to advance through the up/downs, Kespa is really top heavy when it comes to good individual league players so far.

Yeah, INcontrol would totally have owned WJS if he wasn't making the video...
No he needs to actually get good at the game too by putting in more practice time too and get his butt to Korea.
I think InControl himself will tell you that if it was just practice that he is missing from being a top player global, he would train his butt off.
I don't see Jaedong, Taeja, Hero, and JYP filming silly videos.
In fact, I don't see your point at all, and I doubt anyone else does either. Kespa teams have done all sorts of silly stuff in the past. They have had female beauty pageants (with only males participating) and played soccer games versus other Kespa teams.
Lulz, you must be blind as they appear everytime during SPL commercial breaks. And oh yeah they definitely have done strange stuff in the past but at very low frequency. The soccer stuff was during off-seasons just letting you know. My point can't be anymore clear.
Some crazy irrational reactions ITT. Firing anybody is the stupidest idea I've heard, hiring some b-teamers would be a much better idea actually. Flaming the management or the coaches is irrelevant, the coach do what he can with what he got, which is pretty much less than everybody else in PL, so no miracle there.
I feel EG-TL needs to address this if they wanna win :
- No depth : very limited coaching choices = getting sniped over and over. - Nerves, mental strength : Zenio and HerO are not very good at this. Revival seems weak on that front too. Only momentum can get them better. - Changing priorities : players don't give a fuck about PL as soon as they enter GSL. - TL players don't train in the EG teamhouse, it shows. - Monetary incentive to win ?

the team probably spent like, a few hours total max on the video only though, they're mostly rather short interviews. CJ and Team 8 have them too
The team really isn't that strong. They don't have a lot of depth, they are top heavy but have players that are easily sniped in the all-kill round, and they were unlucky that Taeja had a wrist injury. If Taeja would have won all his games like he should have they would be many places higher.

I don't think the blame can be shifted onto any one individual tbh. The players need to prepare better since it shows(Taeja proxying a stargate instead of playing straight up macro against Skyhigh lol) and the coaches need to do a better job of helping them come up with strategies. It's also clear that their priorities lie elsewhere unlike the KeSPA teams which focus on PL before anything else and imo, that's the way to win!

Are you watching the same games I am? It seems to me EG-TL's top players such as Taeja and HerO have lost recent games due to playing non-standard and doing something risky. I wish they just played more standard, and possibly even a little "safely" like you suggested.

If you gave them half the spots then yes their chances of winning would increase, that much is obvious. Life was the first royal roader so I can't agree with that at all, that's simply foolish to state. He got into Code S and less than 3 months later was already a two time champion. Kespa is top heavy in GSL as shown by Soulkey and Bogus achieving good results two seasons in a row while others have failed to get to the ro8 more than once. In 2012 Season 5 two Kespa players went straight from Code A to Code S, Roro by beating Fantasy in Round 3 and Baby who beat Symbol in Round 3 ( who would then fall right back to Code B in the next season ). In the up and down matches Flash, Jaedong, Trap, Bbyong, sOs, Flying and Fantasy all lost.
I'm just telling you what happened, none of this is really arguable.

Well you could realize that what you affirm with a lot of conviction in a polemical offensive posture is most certainly wrong. Life was in code B two seasons ago and is now a two time champion three seasons later with a RO16 finish between both championship in a MU that is a little bit random and lost this seasons to one really strong ZvZ player and the best protoss player at the moment, I don't see where you can place it lower than other players.
Now maybe if KeSPA players had half of the spot in code S they would win but 1) that wouldn't prove anything since it would be only one season 2) you can't possibly be certain of this like you seemed to be in your message.

I got a beating in logic today by a lawyer so if I were you, I'd never say something is not arguable.
For example, when you bring up the Life part, a strong counterpoint is that edgeout was talking about dropping down all the way to Code B and Royal Roader is just winning Code S from Code S on your first try. Life's first entrance was in Season 1 in all of GSL and he won Season 4. Anyways, I don't think how Life was in Season 1 back when he was in ZeNex is applicable to his current state and I suspect he'll just pull a Nestea if that happened. But that point is so easily debatable, never mind right or wrong, just easy to argue.
But my main point is never ever say something is not arguable unless you keep to 1+1=2 stuff or cold hard facts with as little application as possible. Even when you apply stuff, the application can be debated in terms of its relevancy to the original statement.
I was referring to how kespa is top heavy in GSL, there's no way to predict how life would do if he was sent back to Code B so I wasn't including that part at all, I just said I can't agree with it.

You know I could begin going into sentence structure and semantics just to be a dick.
LOL. I just wanted to get the point across that you should never say something is not arguable.
No, you're right. I wasn't clear in my original post about that. I posted again to clear up that confusion. Of course you can always try to argue anything but all I did was lay out the facts on what happened and then gave my opinion that kespa is top heavy in their GSL performance.
You give 16 seeds to KeSPA players in code S at the beginning, they will have championship by now. You put Life back in code B, no way he can get good results in code S after 3 seasons.

You put esf teams in pro league and top 4 spots would be esf teams.
Sorry for enter in your argumentation, but both of you are just doing empty especulation. Just wait maybe 1 or 2 years and see if itll be a 1 sided game or a equilibrium between Kespa and esf.
That was kind of the point. We both presented unprovable opinions as facts, except only one of us knows that.
I put opinion out as opinion, I just believe them, but you don't. So there's a discussion, otherwise, who needs discussion, or possibly argument. And this forum will be dead.
I can be certain on my own opinion because that's my own opinion and I believe it, I'm not asking you to believe it. Some of your eSF fanboys's comments against KeSPA players are offensive to me too, as minority here, I can't hold my tongue to let you majority to bully minority all day long.
It being your own opinion doesn't allow you to use it in a debate if it can't stand an argumentation. You can't just decide that something wrong is your opinion and expect people to accept it, there has to be some reasoning behind it.

You are dealing with very small sample sizes, it is just variance. Concrete conclusions like KESPA is top heavy in individual leagues in general ability-wise is speculative at best.

over the few seasons of GSL so far, we've got quite a bit of data now

"Quite a bit" is relative. The fact that the best records in proleague do not correlate that well with best results in individual leagues should emphasise this.
