Mark Hunt is about to take a belt back to NZ, at 40 years old, with a 10(11)-8 overall record (hopefully!). Even if it is an interim title this should probably be the best MMA story of the year, imo, if it happens. I still think that JDS and Cain are the two best heavyweights, like a solid step above everyone else, but goddamn Hunt has so much constant momentum behind him from the fans at this point that I really believe he could do just about anything but drop a weight class =D

It would be pretty crazy if Hunt won the title, but I don't think he'll be the favourite for this fight. Werdum is a pretty crafty guy with a lot more ways to win.

UFC 179 is tomorrow evening! Former contender Chad Mendes will be facing current 145-lb Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo for the second time in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In their first face-off, back in January of 2012, Mendes was well on his way to becoming the champion, doing well in the fight until he ran into a slight problem: Aldo's arms and legs. It was a tough knee to the head that landed on Mendes that ended the fight, and caused Aldo to run out of the octagon, past all the security, and swim through the crowd of people in the audience. Also, Light Heavyweight disappointment Phil Davis will be facing former title-contender, Glover Teixeira in the co-main event. Both fighters are coming off of some tough, grinding, decision-defeats where they seemed to be outclassed entirely. When pitted against Jon Jones, Glover Teixeira's talents were reduced to him being a human punching bag for Jones. Similarly, against Anthony "Rumble" Johnson, Phil Davis' wrestling was neutralized by the fact that Johnson is huge. Poll: Who shall win? Jose Aldo (2) Chad Mendes (2) 4 total votes Your vote: Who shall win? Poll: Co-main event winner? Glover Teixeira (1) Phil Davis (1) 2 total votes Your vote: Co-main event winner? Le card:

1) If Neil Magny wins in his bout against William Macario, he'l be 5-0 in the UFC for the year 2014. 2) Regardless of whether Aldo or Mendes wins, Dennis Bermudez will still have the longest active winning streak of all featherweights.

I dunno, but this could be a really lame precedent that is being set. I'm sure Jimmy will give us the scoop behind the conspiracy soon enough.

Lets go Aldo! lol Phil Davis is so boring to watch. I'd love to see Anderson kick him right in the fucking face, but I don't think that is at all what would happen. None of those guys have the wrestling of Phil Davis. Assuming he doesn't get KO'd shooting, or submitted...I think he'd hold Anderson down. And ooooh damn Aldo, that prolly shoulda been minus 1 point :\

Interesting that you bring that up. Aldo really started to fade in the fourth round. His speed and power were not there, and he was fighting flat-footed. I was clearly quite tired, but I don't believe Mendes put enough pressure on Aldo during that round. Mendes actually looked fairly tired as well, so he may not have been able to turn up the volume when Aldo was starting to fade, which let Aldo catch his breath and get a bit of break.
