Bogut gets away with way too much holding and shoving game-to-game. In fact if they just called the holding foul on Bogut in the first place, we might not even be talking about this.

It reminded me of what we discussed on thread and and some posts (almost 3 years ago!) about the post-up and it's role in the NBA. http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/games/349098-nba-offseason-2012?page=42#839

Its related to our Point Guard glut though, there are just so many more athletic 6'2" guys than 6'6" guys and even more so than the 6'11" guys. Like, Anthony Davis and Lebron are probably the 2 most "dominant" guys in the league right now, but if you transposed them into Steph Curry's body I question if they would be able to make the all-Star team.

To be maximally efficient, you need smaller but necessary balloons (types of shots) to act as pressure release valves, so to speak. As the article pointed out, the Spurs, for instance, had pressure release valves in Parker's (or Mills' last year) midrange game and Duncan's repertoire. The value of the shot also depends on the situation. A Dirk fadeaway is probably more valuable than a Barnes 3 point shot. An uncontested midrange shot may be more valuable than a contested 3.

That being said, this roster isn't going to go any farther than the ECF. We need size. We need Aldridge or Marc Gasol. Watching every scrub center completely dominate us this post season was embarrassing. Atlanta's been undersized since Horford came to the team. I love Horford, and I love Millsap, but they're not getting the job done on the boards. Having both Millsap and Horford is redundant; it's silly to have two power forwards taking turns getting dominated on the boards. They basically have the same skill set (Horford's a better mid range shooter, Millsap's better at putting the ball on the floor), so if you lose one and get an actual center, so be it. Bazemore is going to be a great player in two years, mark my words. Teague needs to take over games sooner and more often. Korver had a lucky season and he's basically done. Budenholzer's system is proven and great, but we need talent and size. They call us Spurs East, but we don't have a Tim Duncan or Manu Ginobli. It's a shame, but unless they make a serious change to the roster the best they can hope for is getting swept by Lebron for the next three years.
