Nobody cares what your opinion is. Who are you to say who 'deserves' community sponsorship to a foreign tournament? MarineKing is a popular player for good reasons and personally I am really proud of what r/starcraft and Milkis have managed
Why exactly is MKP popular? This has always confused me. His games are unwatchable and cheesy most of the time. Is it him crying after every game or the fact he models for a website and people think hes cute? Honestly I never understood the draw to a guy that cracks under pressure so hard and does a gold command center float one game then thor rushes the next then 1-1-1s the other.
Honestly I want to know so the puzzle can be solved and like I said it has always confused me.
Anyways more korean players the better @ mlg.
Why 'exactly'? I don't know how you expect anyone to answer that completely...
Combination of him being ::
- very likeable character - does crazy builds which would just not work without top level micro; entertaining - GSL finalist and regular Code S - cute - often plays with bio more than tanks in TvT - stands out from other pros for the above reasons and more
Just a couple of thoughts...
Try being more objective & ask yourself, why would he not be popular to the average Star II viewer?

Because he's the sickest nerd baller in the sc2 scene. Puzzle solved!

I can't see how his games are unwatchable. I find them entertaining. You never know what crazy build or style he's going to play and whether or not he's going to bring his top class marine splits or send hundreads of marines into a couple of banelings.
If every game of SC2 was Idra vs Idra, that would make for an incredibly dull and "unwatchable" e-sport IMO.

I love MKP because his games are entertaining. I would much rather watch MKPs insane builds and micro than watch STBomber bludgeon his opponent to death in 25 min macro games. His style is different, fast paced and aggressive, and thats why we love him. Also, he is really cute:D

New to sc2? Go back and watch him against kyrix that made me a fan for life. Not to mention he is one of the most entertainig terrans out there. His base trade games are sick as well. I only watched code A because of him.
why is it that everybody just throws around "LOL CHEESEY" when it's a player they don't like? do you people that use the term even know what it means? Bitbybit = cheesy. MKP =/= cheesy.
like, i'm just shocked at the number of people for example that still GENUINELY thinks rain plays like he did in open season 2 ("LOL HE ONLY MARINE SCV ALL IN")
No one cares about the small, small minority of forever-alone nerds bashing on MKP. r/starcraft/ raised $3500 in 4 hours for him and him specifically, and no matter how much you try to complain about how he doesn't play boring-as-hell like IdrA every game, he's still going to Orlando to compete and make all his fans happy. You can stay in your basement and convince yourself how much better things would've gone and all the awesome players you'd have gotten instead if only you had a say. Which you didn't, don't, and very likely never will.
