Well...it's unhealthy? Like, on a personal level, it's just not a good thing to be fat.

A guy can play great, win championships and everything else, but if when he shows his face on screen, if he hasn't been taking care of himself (I'm not talking about whether he's appealing or not, but his hygiene here) it's going to turn off people. Well, girls mainly. I can see how guys wouldn't really care. Anyone, appealing or not to begin with, that works out or takes care of themselves is going to be seen in a better light than someone who stays up 22hrs out of 24 and only showers once a week.
tldr; I agree with a better image for pro gamers, and I don't think white-ra looks funny ;o! But he has gotten a pot belly (._.) someone take that man to the gym! He could be so sexy <.< such a waste! unattractive males that are unattractive due to their own choice, I.E. not taking care of their hygeine, hair, facial hair, or having absolutely no sense of style makes me NOT want to watch them, or root for them in tournaments regardless of playstyle or skill. I'm a straight male at that, so I could only imagine what a turn-off it would be for a straight girl or gay man to see a sloppy person in eSports, and formulate thier opinion of it as a whole off of them. A single negative image can outweigh multiple positive images.
It's unfortunate but it's true; appearance matters.

Any time some western progamer gets flak for looking fat and unhealthy, show all those people the Daum OSL intro or topless anytime intro.

This is the SC2 version of the "Nada's Body" thread isn't it?

said the same thing for me. I think we crashed the site :D

I don't know.. I think that the majority of progamers that we see at events aren't fat or have really bad style or anything. Most of them wear just average stuff and are physically fine. There are a few of them that are out of shape, but there are also koreans that are to.

guys. just look at MMA. that man is styling.

I agree with this - wtf is with this reputation that all NON-korean progamers are unattractive? I'd say the ratio of attractive - unattractive or fit - out of shape is the same in both korea and the rest of the world. I don't think that sc2 is in desperate need of sex appeal because 1. It already exists 2. Nobody cares.

Yeah, it's fucking pathetic. I'm glad we have none of that crap here. Fix game balance first, fix maps first, fix the ugly ass bnet minus two point crap oh interface and system, add a banlist for hackers, add a 'rejoin game after disc' feature, bring back clan functionality and FUCKING REAL chat channels...and only then...only then, ruin the scene with idiotic music and terribad metrohomo approaches.
I care about how players play, not about how they look. If I want to see beautiful people, esports is not my first resource...and it shouldn't be.
And while you're at it, get rid of the retarded 'hwaiting' phrase, it makes me picture those who say it as unable to utter the word 'waiting' properly, like if there were something stuck in their throats and they dragged the H to places they shouldn't.
In a nutshell, keep e-sports gaming related, thanks.

A photo of me from my stream actually got posted on r/ladyboners. I'm in the lowly Gold League, however.

I think that korea might have less AVERAGE (not too unattractive not too attractive) looking progamers than the west, but it has just as many unattractive ones.

Well the thing is, is that it's just BW culture. Not esports culture. These things kinda carried over, since, you know, both games are starcraft. It was here before SC2 was, and it's not a big deal if it happens within our culture a little.
But to be honest, it'd be nice for the general public to not consider most pro-gamers pimply fat nerds who live in their mother's basements. Granted, I think the OP is over concerned (there's not that many bad looking players), but still. Image can help esports expand. And expansion is good, right?

HAHAHAHHAHAAHA
Rofled at the South Park episode's gamer :D (great idea!)
I dont know what you mean with "sex" but I suppose it is like "character"? well we have IdrA, White-Ra and.... well I guess thats it.. If sc2 wants to grow it needs more gamers with character but I have no problem how the things are at the moment.
edit: if you mean with "sex appeal" looks, thats just stupid.

As someone pointed out earlier, Korean society is overly obsessed with the superficial. Like in any classical asian setting, women are still relegated to lesser roles but who cares you say, they got a boob-job or whatever...
Pro-athletes better look good cause all they do everyday is work out. You'd expect them to look good. That doesn't change the fact that C.Ronaldo for example is but a joke who poses more than he plays. I want to see him score, not open his legs like a cocky whore every time he's about to make a shot.
Likewise for e-sports, one thing is being presentable and another is buying into all this superficial, let's cross-dress and go metro crap. Yes, some of the gay members of the TL community seem to be delighted by these kinds of things, but surely there's more TL'ers out there who in average would like to see more improvement on the gaming side of things. Then again, although I respect sexual choices...it doesn't mean I enforce my own on others. Just because some gay gamers love these kinds of things, I need to pay for it? So perhaps they should pay for my taste too and, instead of having post-match interviews or those terrible kpop videos I always mute, we'll get mud-fights with the cute girls instead...wrong
If you were to broadcast the Korean BW Proscene in any mainstream channel in any major western country, you'd get a major laugh from most people, not respect.
Chess is respected in the west as a high-level intellectual activity. That is the kind of respect I wish e-sports and sc/sc2 had. Does Kasparov work-out? I don't know, I don't care. Did Bobby Fisher get hairgel or cross-dress? I hope not nor do I care. It's their mental prowess people look after.
Why taint SC2 just because 1 country has 1 particular way of doing things? E-sports is now global, not just korean.
