Naniwa refused to play a meaningless match@blizzcup, resulting in a probe rush deluxe. For this he got out of Code S and banned till for a short period of time from GSL.
Stephano refused to play a Grand Finals match, just quitting on the whole tourney. He also was very well aware of the start times of the competitions and the risks of going late into the night, prior to what happened. He also accepted to play 2 competitions on the same day accepting even more risks. I don't see why he is so amazed he received that penalty. It's MORE then welcome for the lack professionalism he showed.
Players once they accept to play in tournaments, even knowing all the risks, should play them till the end. After u play all the matches u can start bad mannering the competition over the internet because of their scheduled hours. How come other players didn't complain..like KAS who stood till 6AM in the morning to finish this game, even stating he was tired. With all these did he ask for even a break? i don't recall...and Stephano even benefited from a break before his match. The organizers moved a match just because he was tired...poor little thing... Do that in a major competition and u will see how fast u are ejected out the window.
It might be ONOG's fault (altho they told players when matches start etc, so they could easily calculate how many h it would take. Even an approximate calculated H would have been enough for Stephano to refuse the invitational from the start.) but the attitude shown is unprofessional. U accepted risks..u play...after THAT u can QQ all u want. ONOG gave Stephano all the fluffy pillows he wanted and still he refused lol.

If he didn't give himself enough time to sleep the day before, that's his fault. He doesn't have any right to bail on a commitment because he was tired from other tournaments than I had the right to bail on one of my finals because I was tired from working on another final. It seems a lot of people seriously cannot understand from another person's perspective. A LOT OF PEOPLE HERE would not be able to stay up 5 days straight and be fine. Just because you can doesn't mean you can hold others to the same standards and tell them they should be okay. I'm not holding him to stay up for five days straight, I'm holding him to schedule his time effectively enough to fulfill his end of the commitment. If he didn't schedule his sleep schedule effectively to meet the commitment, tough shit, that's his fault.

overall i think the decision by the president was perfect. yes put the fans first because pro gamers arn't anything if there's are no fan to watch and support them. Stephano still played well so he still get's fourth. Great of catz and illusion to stay and play the extra games. Players fly around the world all the time and are not in the best condition to play but they still try their best. And by the article it seemed that stephano was being rude and demanding instead of trying to come to a mutual solution. Some player's egos are getting too inflamed, for example the mlg incident where some players were being rude to casters/referees. They had that problem in the NBA until refs starting smacking players with technicals at the slightest sign on disrespect.

Yeah yeah, Stephano shouldn't have forfeit, he's lame, totally different situation from Tyler's forfeiting in the group stages. I agree with all that.
I'm here to make a point. The French jokes aren't racist, they're xenophobic. Unless, of course, everyone in France is now their own race. Which the multiple ethnicities there would probably take offense to.
Also, they're funny. And obviously not meant seriously. The ONG casters obviously not meaning to shit on the entire French country. If we could back off from that non-issue please, that'd be great.

it was a BARCRAFT EVENT and as their Head just pointed out it rather supports the fans than the players , since they stand for their goals. i do like stephano no doubt , but theres no way you can blame ONOG for their decisions. Its not easy to reschedule a game which is supposed to be played on a barcraft event. You have to think from the hosts point of view. It'd be more like,
Stephano student: Hey, I finished my exam as much as I could but I got tired/worn out so I turned it in early. Will you accept it?
Professor Onog: Okay, but you won't be getting anything for something that isn't filled out.
Stephano student: Ok, that's what I was expecting.
Of course, there would be benefits for the tournament if they postponed it, while no benefits for the professor.

For longer than 24 hours. Which is much more than stephano would have been awake for assuming he had woken up at a reasonable time. And if he woke up at 1 in the morning the day before two tournaments that would likely go well into the night, it's his fault.
Am I right?

You don't get to have exceptions for yourself when you knew what was going to happen Analogy circle, here we go. It'd be more like, Stephano student: Hey, I finished my exam as much as I could but I got tired/worn out so I turned it in early. Will you accept it? Professor: Okay, but you won't be getting anything for something that isn't filled out. Stephano student: Ok, that's what I was expecting.
I was making a general relation, but yes that is the jist of it. Why people are still arguing about it when Stephano is fine with it is beyond me.

It's fine if logic goes on tangents, it's like a sub-proof. They eventually point to the same conclusion.

hahah, would have been hard for ONOG to explain how Stephano passed out right at the spot and died of exhaustion because he was forced to play, while drooling all over his keyboard and sending his last will to MoMan, for him to lead the french juggernaut of SC2 domination.
On a more serious note, I didn't watch anything of the tournament but I think the organizers and Stephano himself handled it well. From what I heard there was a lot of unnecessary waiting time beforehand (caused by Stephano), stuff like that should be fixed and handled more harshly for the next time imo (with a proper rule set and guidelines, if someone is unexcused 15-20 minutes late for a match its auto forfeit or something like that). But if a player wants to forfeit he should be able to do so in an online tournament (with all the consequences from his fans and his team because of his lack of professionality), if he doesn't want to play the finals it is the best for everyone if someone else gets the spot, so it is kind of reasonable to rank him down to 4th place and there is no clear loser in the scenario that happened. He couldn't complain if he got disqualified though, so he can thank the responsible persons for his 4th rank.
