Masterasia's a grad student at GA Tech (math major, I think he's a PhD student) who basically plays and has always played mainly for relaxation. He's never been a SC2 progamer, though he's showed up a few times to compete at tourneys (he went to MLG Orlando) -- but again mainly for fun.

Getting into the professional scene for LoL is so much harder because you need good coordination with your team, which is more reliant on luck (personalities mixing well) and hours of getting to know each other. It's so much harder than getting good at your macro/micro in SC2. Maybe it's easy to 'get' in to the professional side of the game, but it's just as hard (if not harder) to make an impact in the LoL scene than SC2 scene.

didn't he quit SC2 for LoL? BTW who the hell was Masq? I remember wayyyyyyyyyyyy back in the beta people were hyping up, and then they stopped talking about him like yesterday's news. I always see him in GM league and once in a 1v1 obs game.

That's a rumor floating around, based on videos showing him playing LoL instead of practicing SC2, and another false rumor stating that he didn't even try for Code A last qualifiers. (He did try out. He got to the semifinals of his bracket and lost to RagnaroK, who lost to Jjun.)

Maybe it's easy to 'get' in to the professional side of the game, but it's just as hard (if not harder) to make an impact in the LoL scene than SC2 scene. Highly doubt that... LoL is really easy to master as a video game, then for sure, the only hard part is the teamplay, but then again, it's not even close, to the difficulty of becoming pro on SC2, simply, if you want you can become pro on LoL for 90% of people, if they dedicate time, reading, team searching and training, SC2, maybe 10% of players would have actually the capacity of becoming pro. Simply, the apm and the intensity of it, makes it much harder, not trying to compare the games, but SC2 is kind of an unique difficulty. Even if some guys make it look easy because it's natural for them, when you see people training, learning about the game, and being stuck in gold... LoL mechanics are really amazingly easy, compared to Dota for example, so yeah huge part of it depends on the team and few key players actions, which for me depends quite often on luck. Not taking anything from LoL pros but it's "doable", where SC2, well frankly I would be semi pro at least by now if this was true , my hands just say no

Don't really wanna turn this into a LoL vs SC2 vs w/e thread, but out of experience the main thing you need to be succesful at any teamgame is just a lot of friends in the proscene. There's loads of terrible 'pro' teamgame players that get carried around by their teams just cause they are friends.

He recently took out the Australian Cyber League on the gold coast beating Rossi in the finals. Also he was at a lan in sydney the other day but he just missed out on final 8 spot, losing in grp stages. Also he is currently rank 4 on TLPD. People really don't check before they ask questions lol. Ps he was streaming yesterday and had 1800 viewers at one stage i believe.

Well lets be honest the SEA scene isn't very big or that well known and doesn't have the highest skill level of players. I am not to surprised he is dominating over there. But you can't blame people for asking because again the SEA scene isnt' very big and I don't see much streams on it so I can understand why people wonder what happened to him. I was surpised to see him at rank 4 and looked at his TLPD and just saw him rolling through the sea scene but not many people look at that I imagine .

There are also some other folks from the open seasons I wonder about, but they probably just couldn't keep up and retired without anyone noticing (LegalMind, LiveForever, Tankboy, FreeSaga, ButterflyEffect, and Lotze). Was also wondering what became of FreeDSL so I looked him up on Liquipedia and saw one of his nicknames was, "The Protoss Hope." I laughed hysterically thinking he had just completely fallen off after people put so much faith in him. Turns out he's Sage. Oh, and SuzyWerra from open season 2 is now Tassadar. o.o

This thread answered a lot of questions I had about where a lot of people I watched in beta and early retail went. Thanks guys. One question I have though that this thread brought up, why do a lot of people that quit SC2 seem to gravitate towards Dota/LoL? It seems to me that it's a completely different skillset and wouldn't really be all that appealing to people who are used to the amazingly fast paced style of SC2.

I recently played against a Mid-Masters account on the AM ladder named BitByBit, who proxy Marauder and SCV all-inned me in PvT. I asked him if he was from Prime and he told me he left Prime to go to school in Canada in very broken English. It was either BitByBit or a really big fanboy of BitByBit... Haven't seen or heard anything else from him so this is the best information I have.

He is the best protoss. the reason hes so good is not because he is full of shit and making stuff up its really because hes really the best at everything he does the reason why hes so fascinating is because any game he start to play ANYTHING he plays, if hes dedicated and he puts himself into it HE WOULD DESTROY IT. he would just destroy gloriously because hes indestructible hes unmatchable theres no one that can even come close to his lvl of skill and its nt hes some kind of god or sth but its because his skill in games is UNmatchable. Hes rock solid. Everybody he played against actually admitted that Athene's skill is unmatchable if they are honest with themselves. it took him 1 f***ing day to get to masters league hes the dam best player i've ever seen, nt only in starcraft also in WoW , C&C , Warcraft III, Red Alert 3 , Poker, dang he even owned Einstein in science. best person i've ever seen in my life, dont dis him

What sort of suggestions did you make that are only now being implemented? There are quite a few that have been around for a while, but what stuck out to me is I saw you can destroy force fields. I said there should be a way to do that in 2008 when that ability was created. Whether by atttack or ability, idk I'm sure browder just dismissed it. He did not like our feedback. If you played beta on , you could see how broken the game was, mothership etc. We told them all of the flaws, but the mass player base was more valued. I think my problem with Browder in particular was that he was not a good broodwar or warcraft player, so he never got many things. He always wanted the units to do the hard work with abilities, but it should be the players doing the cool stuff, making use of things in unusual or unique ways. Anyway, getting off tangent here, that force field thing was what I was thinking about when I made that comment. If i cared to look I bet I could find more. Terran can't build their own mechanical ramps yet can they? hehe
