lol why does the figure matter? Random Starcraft fan: "$20 is too much for one event." Sundance: "We gotta start somewhere." TL: "Pay x amount if there is no free live stream." MLG: "Too much, we should get it for free anyways." For the record, I'm not an MLG hater I already got my pass but this is very black/white for me. If MLG can't afford it for w/e reason then that's fine but it shouldn't expect it to be free. They never said they thought the should get it for free. All they said that the price TL started with was way too high to even bother negotiating. Many people here are all pissed off that MLG is trying to make money and is doing the even PPV, but then TL thinks it fine for them to spend a ton of extra money of something that other events get for free. I doubt MLG would say no to a price that was reasonable, but considering they wouldn't even bother negotiating the price, I can only imagine what TL started wit (probably was $10k to be honest, what reason do we have to doubt LJ?).

Would I be crazy to suggest that the majority of people using exaggerated language like this against MLG have a European country next to their name? It's just what I've observed. Regardless, is it really necessary to say "fuck MLG"? I mean I know you want your post to stand out and not be drowned out in a big thread, but you really should think a little more before you post.

MLG is biting the hands that feeds it. So many tournaments for free (alot of them in HD too) that are free and have a lot of Koreans playing in them.
I really hope they drop the PPV thing after this because it was an enjoyable experience watching MLG and they have now cut off probably 80-90% of their audience of course until we get to view the vods a week later.
Seriously though who's actually going to watch the VODs a WEEK LATER?

He's just doing to TL what he did to MLG, calling them out when they do something that either doesn't benefit eSports or is going against expanding eSports. Some people see him being critical of an organization and see him as being an asshole for it. Fair enough. But let's face it, he's been right too many times in the past to just dismiss something he says. I'm guessing he wants TL to be a better organization, and if calling them out when they do something he doesn't agree with is something he thinks is worth going out of his way to do, then it may be in our best interest to at least listen to him.

Edit: This post was originally discussing the moderation action taken against the user Lord Jerith, arguing that his ban was warranted. I realised this post may have crossed the line in to off topic back seat moderating sorry, so I won't discuss it any further.
I originally left the post up for intellectual honesty, rather than taking a shot at making a point and then hiding it, but as the post has been quoted now, sufficient time has passed and the point has been made sufficiently by others, I am now deleting this post.

The fact that LordJerith was banned for asking what the exact figure TL started with pretty much tells me it was $9950 or something effectively equivalent to $10k

Ok, here's MLG Adam's quote from this thread:
On February 24 2012 08:56 MLG_Adam wrote:Hey everyone, was not going to post in this thread, but just wanted to clarify one piece of information (and wow 35 pages...well done ). The price that was initially quoted was a lot of money. How much was originally offered will remain between MLG and TL, but I will say it was not an insignificant amount by any means and further negotiation did not happen because we were pretty far apart on what was proposed and what we were willing to spend. All that being said, we respect TL's position on this matter. MLG is gearing up to run an amazing show this weekend. Whether you think we're doing the right thing or not with this PPV effort, I hope those that tune in have a great experience. Have a great weekend!
I don't see anything here stating MLG was not willing to spend anything.
