I have created a YouTube channel with the goal of helping out Zerg players. Most of the content will attempt to be educational however I do play to make the odd entertaining video, the odd vlog about random things and every now and then an interview with top Zerg players. Basically it is going to be EVERYTHING ZERG: No other races allowed. I did originally call it "Efficient Zerg Learning" but decided since not all the content was gonna be educational i'd just call it "The Zerg Hive"
Currently I've been making videos for about 3 weeks, I'm aiming to try and get some content up everyday so you can get your Zerg fix every single day.
I'm a professional gamer representing Frenetic Array, GM on NA and SEA. Obviously a Zerg player . Recently found my love for helping others improve. Read my blog here to find out why: http://www.sc2sea.com/blogs/showentry.php?e=832
My goals for SC2 are to play at the highest possible level I can get to. One day I hope I can improve enough that I can compete on an international level and get decent results.
This YouTube will give me satisfaction via helping others out and also serve to increase exposure for myself and my team - increasing the opportunities that may come my, or my teams way.
I remember day9 having a thread like this in the beginning where he archived all his video so I thought it'd be fun if I did the same :D. If you have any ideas for content or anything you would like to know about that is Zerg related, let me know and I can probably do a video on it ^u^v.
i am silver protoss level on sea and am having the troubles vs the zerg!! (OH NO) pls if u can watch my replay and help me find out my errors? in my replay u will find bat manner zerg (i fink its cos he play zerg)

Great channel and can confirm this guy is sick good.
Fenners a bit of a boss. Strong player, good guy. Would reccomend his stream to anyone, always good stuff. The vids are really good as well, good quality/informative the whole 9 yards.

Haha can't believe you remember the MVP video was from me.
Hey Fenner, I've been having some trouble lately vs P lategame at mid-high masters level. Basically on huge maps like Condemned Ridge, Shakuras (ffs on ramps... grrr) or Entombed, I just have SO much trouble controlling all the space without losing everything. BL/Festor is just so darned immobile I'm open to a billion counter attacks.
My opener is HyuN's style that he used in Fight Club vs ParTinG in Game 6 with the 5 base 10 gas 13 min max on 9 infestor 20+ roach and then max speedlings and around 80-90 drones just in time to hold the 13-14 min 3+ collossi or mass immo/sentry/stalker pushes that hit the pre-BL timings. Those pushes aren't so much of a threat anymore, but afterwards I feel I have to use just about everything to get enough BLs out that I won't just die when he remaxes on his now 4+ base economy.
Tbh though its the lategame warp prisms that kill me. I've been told that trading out drones for spine/spore is the way to stop this, but how many at a time is safe? 5 drones? 10? Should I try to maintain the 80+ drone-count or should I start trading out supply for more army? Should this static defense transition happen right as I'm hitting BL masses or should it be earlier during his pre-BL attack? I guess what I sort of need is to SEE it being done so I know about what it should look like. I remember when Zs like Stephano used to just make a 12:30 spine wall after pure drones, but I'd rather rely on an actual army to stop those scary pre-BL timings with instead of static defenses.
Also I was wondering if its even possible to do a video on performing Zerg Engagements well. With so much different map terrain, sometimes I find myself struggling to figure out "Do I have the advantage here? Is this a good place to stop him?". This is not specific to vs P but T as well. ZvZ as far as I can tell is just concaves so no need there lol. Its little things like making SURE your banes would connect well with just marines and not hitting tanks or making sure his sentries can't stop your fungals from hitting anything by ffing the infestors out. Also with several unit comps to consider, all engagements have to be handled a little differently and its hard to learn how to do them from watching pros because the pros don't exactly explain their mentality when they're setting things up or expecting the attack.

@sCCcrooked's questions
I've been told that trading out drones for spine/spore is the way to stop this, but how many at a time is safe? 5 drones? 10?
Once you get to the Broodlord Infestor stage and it's time to start defending prism play with spore/spine instead of whatever units you have at the time, you can start putting almost all of your excess minerals into spore/spine and refreshing the drones that get used. You will have a pretty heft amount of excess minerals because brood/infestors/corruptor are so heavy on the gas. So make sure your gas is kept down then use left over minerals on spore and spine.
Should this static defense transition happen right as I'm hitting BL masses or should it be earlier during his pre-BL attack?
You will need a good amount of static defense pre-brood but all of your static defense pre-brood should generally be placed on the attack paths to your 3rd/4th. You don't really need static defense around all of your bases before you get into the brood ball because you will have units out that can deal with prism harass if there is any although the prism harass usually happens after brood morphing or during the prebrood push, at this point you have units out that can move around quickly to deal with the prisms including corruptors since they wont be morphed into broods yet.
I'd rather rely on an actual army to stop those scary pre-BL timings with instead of static defenses.
This is something we'd all love to do but I Static D is pretty vital to defending those 3 base pre-brood timings. Honestly i find getting the perfect balance between spines and units quite hard myself but spines are definitely crucial for defending the pushes.
Also I was wondering if its even possible to do a video on performing Zerg Engagements well.
What you wrote here would be quite hard to make a video on I think. I'm not sure how to explain it - but I will definitely think about it more and see if I can come up with something!
Also all 3 of the maps you mentioned, I veto them all haha. Condemned is silly, I really dislike playing ZvT/P on entombed because of the 3rd base structure so this would be my go to veto map in tournaments or I would cheese on it. As for Shakuras... I don't think it's that bad although 2 base Protoss pushes are insanely good on it because it's hard to flank/counter and the space between your third and nat is very very awkward.

Thanks so much for the reply. I'm going to try applying this mindset when I'm reaching that point in the game. Your channel continues to amaze and entertain as well. Glad to see it growing! b'-)b
I m not a Zerg player, but I ve taken a look at your videos, I must say it is very well done. Nice preparation, it sounds smooth and crisp, no useless blabla.

Thanks mate, now you should switch to Zerg :D
Just an update guys, I'm going to start doing replay analysis probably once a week. If there are any Zerg players who are interested in getting their replays analyzed please submit them via my website http://dfenner.com/starcraft/contact/ - leave some description about what you're struggling with and I'll see if I can help you out
Here's my first analysis of a Platinum player called Osi in ZvP

I love these videos, they are so helpful and humorous. One thing though, I would love it if you could upload the replays to each specific video. For example: the "Leenock +1 Carapace Standard Zerg Build Order mOOnGLaDe Version!" could have a replay attached to it, so that anyone with specific questions could simply look in the replay and find their answer. Keep the good work up, Cheers!

I had to remove it because of copyright issues
Thanks everyone else for the positive comments!
I also remember that, I cant watch that video no more .
I am currently looking for how to defend the famous immortal sentry allin and I knew that you made a video on how to defend it a while back. However it seems to be unavailable for play. Zerg Defense #2 Defending Against Parting's Immortal Sentry Allin The message that appears
Thank for your latest replay pack! Really learned a lot watching life's play. Cool to see his pov too. Can't wait for hots to resume from replay with these sick replay packs.
Well edited and produced in addition to being very informative! I love how short you keep the videos and the utter lack of any bullshit in them that usually stops me from clicking any kind of youtube guide... Keep it up fenn3r!
@JonEdw Good idea! Once I overhaul my website I'll make sure to add video files to all videos
@TsGBruzze WELCOME TO THE SWARM
@MehCya I can't really stream because of my data cap, only have 100gb/mo T_T
@Llea Thanks a lot!
@JonEdw Yeah had to remove that because of copyright issues (even though everything was legit, damn youtube!) But I will do another very soon on how to hold it with ling hydra which I have been liking a lot lately.
@SoL Oh man, resume from replay is going to be SO GOOD
@usNEUX Thanks man, keeping them informative without the bullshit is my goal, atleast for guides. If I want to get my personality out there more I can always vlog instead of getting in the way of the guides

Will update the thread in the morning with all my newer videos, it takes a while and I'm suuuper tired!
Let me start by saying that I really like you, your channel, and your content. I find your builds to be very relevant to the meta game and well explained.
My one request would be that you put the basic outline of the build in the video comment so that people can copy and paste the text, or just look at the text. If I'm trying new stuff out I like to just look at this outline, and skipping through a video / pausing it.
Hey Mate I realy like you're videos i'm in Platinum and trying to get into Dimond to the next sesson But i think i can make it with you're videos so big thanks
