How does everyone feel about the way WC EU/NA concluded?
I tried to replace the players in the finals with the ones I thought were popular and I still came to the conclusion that it was a bit of a letdown.
So we've crowned the champions of each region, which means nothing in SC2 atm due to lack of region lock and Korean dominance.
We don't even get a season finale to tie everything together. It just feels like being WCS Champion means almost nothing.
The WCS system has really sapped the momentum for SC2 tournaments for me personally, whereas I used to get incredibly hyped for MLGs/IPLs/Dreamhacks, I just can't get into watching WCS. The last SC2 tournament I really enjoyed was the IEM World Championships.
What are your thoughts about the way WCS EU/NA ended?

MMA lost so it sucked
jk, the removal of the season finale does seem weird, it was just more tournaments for us to watch which was great, but it does allow for tournaments such as the Global Tournament tonight!

Is there any point to this but to say, "WCS sucks it should be region locked."? If not, this has been talked to death many times D:

In WCS EU, the storyline has to be consistency. MC and MMA have both proved that not only are they the absolute elite players of WCS EU, but they have been for the past 10 months. It's not often in a tournament where you have the exact same finalist repeat and both make the finals the next tournament.

See, I like this kind of stuff. Any kind of stability when SC2 is clearly a volatile game is nice to see for me

I miss the Season Finals. Those were always really hype, and we haven't really gotten anything to replace them.

I agree with OP's comments.
I think GSL/WCS Korea is the most meaningful tournament by far, and it seemed to do a good job sifting through the contenders to find Zest, the player who is clearly playing the best at the moment.
WCS America and Europe feel so much worse. If they picked the champion of North America and Europe, that would be cool, but instead, the winners were Hyun and MC, two Koreans who were among the earliest to migrate. The top N spots of each tournament were all Korean too.
This isn't bad, in itself, and led to some good games. But WCS America and Europe felt second tier compared to GSL, because the players in WCS America and Europe would not survive in the GSL. They should be brilliant tournaments in their own right.

WCS EU is amazing, WCS AM would have been amazing if all 3 terrans didn't lose in the ro8.

Games/Race/Balance aside, I don't like how the WCS system is. I don't really support region lock either so I think I'm going back and forth on the system itself but I hate how at least now, it doesn't feel like separate tournaments. It honestly just felt like two different brackets, with two champions at similar times. I'm not sure if actually being in NA would make that much of a difference but I miss the WCS Finals. It really felt like something big and exciting

they really need to add back the season finals. Was a terrible mistake imo. If they can't afford a big prize pool, at least have a nominal one and let them play for pride. (would have to be enough to encourage them to fly out obviously). And if they can't even do that then run a damn online tournament at the least

There's a GSL global finals effectively in place of the season finals, not that there's supposed to be one for each season.

it's ok that koreans are dominating
although i wish there was race diversity and not just protoss all the time.
i was a little glad that hyun won AM

Nobody I wanted to win got close so I didn't even watch.

Blizzard should give more points to WCS Korea so that it punishes those who deserted to AM/EU.

I did not really enjoy either too much tbh. Wcs eu was alright but even wcs am was a little dull with the top 4 being a little underwhelming. I hope next season will be better

I agree with mlg/ipl/nasl/Dh being more exciting. First WCS EU finals were fantastic
