Absolutely, I'm making sure they both have rest days/stress relief activities to make sure they don't burn out and stretches/icing/heating to make sure they don't develop overuse injuries.

It isn´t untill you´re in the top #10 masters serverwide or higher that you begin to understand just how large a gap there is, even on the weakest main region.

Did a quick rankedftw search. Schlooty played 400 games so far this season, and seems to have platooed at low dia3 / high plat1 mmr of 3600. The other guy seems to have abandoned it, played just 80 games this season, reached gold 3.

Which was to be expected, sadly. Even though it could have been a fun challange. If one of the players gets caught by ladder anxiety its pretty much over

i know tons of players, myself included, who plateau in dia-master because, even as our mechanics get better, when the game gets frustrating we just kind of quit and start over hoping the next game will be more favorable rather than playing from behind or paying attention to why we lost. and i think that's a fine way to play. pro sc2 is awesome, but i think it gives people an unnecessary sense that they have to emulate pros and take the game seriously. games should be fun

This seems to be over

No, it's not over. Schlooti is still continuing, just taking a small break. Banshee had some IRL problems so he can't continue for a while.

i'm still rooting for them ... but this is a setback and with a game like starcraft, i think breaks can be punishing

Honestly breaks most of the time are just bad because you are not further improving. Would not really call it a setback because you are getting back relativly quickly to where you once were. Obv depends a little on the time of the break.

So much hype, and they didn't even last a month and half... especially since they are introduced as dedicated guys... wow such dedication
I at 33, family and all, as casual play more...

I think when you're plat and silver, setting a goal as GM is way too big, its demotivating. Yea it can happen but its better to take it in steps

I am currently at diamond 3, and getting to master 3 will be massive leap... Setting a goal from silver to grandmaster is equivalent to someone shooting on basket, that next year he will in NBA.
I would be fine if they did whole year and not reach GM. I would be fine even if they quit after 8 months. But one guy just had 80 ladder games in months time. You can do that in a week, no sweat. So basically it took longer for their coach to write his intro than from him to actually play... Man...
|
The way it looks right now it seems like a dud but lets not get ahead of ourselves, these guys could still get back into the race. A year is a long time, if stuff happens in life its not weird to take breaks, this is a nice hyped fight lets not pour water on possible embers that might reignite.
|
this whole thing was doomed from the start. unless you are some one in a billion prodigy, theres no way you can reach gm in a year, especially with no prior rts experience. ive been playing rts for years and after 2 years of dedicating to sc2 im still stuck in master 1.

A more realistic goal would've been masters
|
While it's not impossible (FlaSh won his first OSL within a year of joining a pro team), it was difficult for sure. But why be so negative about it, if they're improving and learning and having fun, who are we to tell them "I was right all along"? Setting the goal to something neither thinks they can realistically attain is also making the playing ground a bit more fair too, since one player won't feel like it's much more out of reach than the other.
I see no reason to play the smartass here, and continue to wish both of them good luck at getting whatever league they're striving for, whether that be GM or diamond
